HMMWV GM 6.5 V8 Diesel Rotrex Supercharged PT2
First start with the new engine.
Lots of work still to do to get it fully completed with all the regular components.
Also the intercooler needs to be integrated to the front cooling package and connected correctly.

GM 6.5 V8 diesel, build in the Netherlands. Fitted with own special brackets to fit a Rotrex supercharger on the front of a 6.2 or 6.5 diesel. Depending on customer preferences, a various amount of different Rotrex supercharger setups are available to get to the preferred amount of bhp. In this case the engine produces 215bhp and 510Nm torque. The engine will be placed in my M1028A1 CUCV, conne...

    How much power is it making?

    • @sbrouwer3458

      It's making over 250bhp and well over 600Nm of torque. We have not pushed it to get to the max. The torque it delivers, directly, when touching the throttle makes it a good drivable humvee.

      @@sbrouwer3458 Thanks for the reply! Those are pretty good numbers from a 6.5 diesel. How much higher do you think it can go before reliability becomes an issue? Is 350-400bhp and 900-1000Nm out of the realm of possibility?

    Have you run it yet? I was looking at doing a centrifugal also and some of prochargers engineers said that the centrifugal doesn't work well with Diesel. I have a 6.2 I'm trying to do! The positive displacement blowers work better on a diesel from what they told me. So keep me updated on this please!

    Garbage engine. I don't get why anyone would pour money into one of the worst diesels ever made. The cranks snap at anything over 300hp. They blow headgaskets like no tomorrow in stock form at 200hp. They sound like shit. The injection pumps are garbage to. They honestly just suck. Put money into a 5.9 12 valve.

      your just jealous because you dont know any better. They have the same power rating as a cummins and weigh 300 lbs less !!! They use less fuel and are much better for driving and off roading. I think all you know is that you and your foolish friends dont know how to properly maintain one of these fine pieces of history that saved north americas ass

    • @sagacious11
      @sagacious11 Рік тому

      The cranks do not snap over 300 horsepower. You get a Fluidampr harmonic balancer, you ARP stud the top and bottom of the engine. Then add fuel, a 1:1 turbo, exhaust and you're ready to go. The cranks only snapped because the stock harmonic balancer literally fell apart due to a bad design. Look up banghart customs, they made 550 horsepower 6.5 with a turbo. Reliably. As far as the head gasket's blowing, blame the 2.5:1 drive ratio of the stock turbo. The stock turbo and stock harmonic balancer are to blame on this engine not the actual engine itself. Of course the engine itself could have been better but those two items were the major downfall.

      @@sonnydayz2118 What you are saying makes no sense. Take the 6.7L diesels from Ford and Dodge (Cummins). Same displacements but the Ford makes more power and torque. @@geoffmooregm , I understand how you feel. I've been a heavy/mining equipment mechanic most of my working life and worked for a dealership (Komatsu) where we had to put engines on a dynamometer for 8hrs after the build, before releasing the engine from the rebuild department. I also rebuilt other brands of engines too, so I have seen the torque differences over various configurations of engine types. The v configuration saves space, with sacrificing performance. For instance a Detroit 4000 series is a v type configuration and would be as long as the mining haul truck, if inline. Same goes for the MTU 396 16V, or a Cummins QSK 60.

You're joking right. Please tell me this is a joke. I work with someone that has a 1.9 litre Turbo 4 cylinder Seat that makes (after turning) 230bhp and 330 lbs ft. I fitted a rotrex supercharger to my EP3 Honda Civic and got great gains. Rotrex are very good. I'm stunned at how such a large capacity engine makes so little power once fitted and tuned to run a supercharger. That's embarrassing. Theres 3.0 litre 6 cylinder diesels that run more power than that as standard!
