The episode was edited down to just under 12 minutes. The opening song was cut out to avoid any possible issue (although we may publish it at some future date). The show starts out with Poppo introduc...

Rather boring
That was an amazing system--buried in trees and cutting through tight streets at various points.
I am 78 years old and remember that cartoon!
Hooray. Dick Tracy triumphs at last. Even though the Brow tried to be a smart skipper.
Pewrsonally speaking the pre war live action films were better.
New to me as a 60s kid.
I haven't seen this opening since the late 1960s. I used to watch the Dick Tracy cartoon show on television in Los Angeles. I can't remember if it was on Channel 11, KTTV , Los Angeles , or Channel 13, KCOP, Channel 13. I guess after the assasinations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, parents probably complained about violence in the media, and the TV stations thought it wasn't a good idea to show Dick Tracy shooting his gun.
Love it. I shared and subscribed. My brother and I used to watch it in the early 60s on ch9 wgn out of Chicago (we lived in nearby de kalb). He became a police detective and I a usaf cop during the cold war. "No medals, just guts!"😅
@@davidscott3820 thank you David
The world needs more of this❤ from England 🇬🇧🌲❤
Thank you , Merry Christmas
We saw these as part of a live kids show every afternoon along with Mr. Magoo and Popeye. Over and over and over...
Wow so much to say about all these images, but sadly no voice over, or narration...
Very interesting film, would love to hear the narration. Thanks
The film had no soundtrack. We wonder if it was narrated live?
Definitely early 60s animation 😊
God awful in very every dimension...crummy art, racist characters, corny jokes, voices imitations of 40's actors, and Tracy was (with exception) never part of the program, just the dispatcher... to a humanoid dog, a thick accented Japanese American and Mexican American, and a uniformed Andy Divine impersonator. And kids grew up thinking a gambling expression was a way to end a two way communication.
Other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?
The beauty of this is that YOU CAN SWITCH CHANNELS!! Phony, Virtue Signaling is not Virtuous…
Dick Tracy - the man that popularized the "Apple Watch". I originally saw these cartoons in COLOR.
Man who inspired the Apple Watch
They are in color!.😁😁
Thanks for sharing. I remember seeing episodes after school on WGN-TV in Chicago. They had a rotating cast of three cartoon detectives, including Hemlock Holmes, Joe Jitsu and one other whose name eludes me. The Dick Tracy character only appeared for a few moments in each episode and never had anything to do with the story, so even my third-grade pals and I got bored after a while. We did, however, retain one catchphrase from the show. Instead of saying goodbye to one another, we would say, "Six-two and even. Over and out."
You're welcome, we have other Dick Tracy Cartoons on this channel and more to come next year .. Thanks for stopping by.
You were thinking of Go-Go Gomez. There is also a fourth character named Heap O'Calorie, but I don't blame you for not remembering him because he appeared in much fewer episodes than the other three.
Heapo Calorie was the remaining cop .
Those were the days. Convairs, DC-9s Connies, Electras, and B727-200s.
Strictly speaking, the only part of this airport that was "abandoned" in favor of the "New Pittsburgh International Airport" in 1992 was the terminal building from which these movies were taken. The remainder of the airport was merely enlarged by several orders of magnitude, new runways replaced all but one of the old ones, and of course the new terminal was built. This was all done to facilitate USAir's buildup of Pittsburgh as a hub. But of course, that went the way of the dodo after they consolidated their operations at PHL, and KPIT more or less died on the vine, becoming merely a spoke airport for the airline hubs located elsewhere. At one time I could have flown my 2 seat very light plane into and out of it, and the controllers would have been grateful for the bump in the traffic count! This was, of course, also the fate of a number of other one-time hub airports such as KBNA and KRDU, as airline consolidation in the 1990's and later years obviated the need for some of the hub operations. I have fond memories of Greater Pittsburgh Airport, since we lived in the Pittsburgh area for a few years in the late 1950's, and my first airplane ride was on an Allegheny DC-3 out of there, headed east for Wilmington Delaware. It was fitting that I should start my flying career in such a manner, for the Allegheny operation in 1958 was nearly identical to what would have been encountered in the 1930's in a DC-3, when those great airplanes were just starting to revolutionize air transport. I still have the Junior Pilot certificate I got on that flight, and back around 1993 I met the Captain again at Oshkosh, by then retired with over 40,000 hours in his logbook. Of course, Captain Jack Robinson has gone West, but he was pleased to find out, when I met him again, that I was a senior Captain for American Airlines, now of course merged with USAir/Allegheny. The circle has been completed. Happy Landings Captain Jack!
Thanks for your comments. Great memories. I flew to my sister's frequently (Nashville) on an Allegheny DC-6 , I believed they called it a "FanJet" I also remember when the old terminal was being abandoned. I worked for the Carnegie Museum at that time and Allegheny County was trying to find a home for the Calder Mobile which hung in the old terminal. It came back home where it started and hung over the grand staircase for a while. It has since been removed and I am not sure where it is now ..
Giving my age away, but I remember those days at Pit very well. I spent many hours watching the various planes arrive and depart. Connies, Electras, Viscounts, DC-6's, 7s, DC-9's Convair 880's and 990's, Caravelles. Apologies to any I left out. Not to mention the new jets which were just taking a foothold. Of course this was when you could walk right out to the observation deck to get a good view. I'm sure the screaming Caravelles damaged my ears, but it was worth it to get a close up view of these beauties. In my opinion this truly was the "Golden Age" of commercial aviation. Unlike today, commercial aviation was glamorous. Men wore coats and ties, and you would never see a woman boarding a plane without a dress on. The passage of time reminds us that not everything gets better with age.
Will this work with postcards?
National Panasonic R 3000 Multi Band Portable Radio 📻 This is the first time i am seeing this model! It was a radio which has a very fine built quality! These quality standards are not available at all anywhere in today's electronic market. Those good old days! 😊 👍 Thank you for the video! Sorry about the late comment.
My mother's uncle's owned Mon Valley Transportation. They had a jitney from Clairton to Glassport then streetcar to Mckeesport. A jitney mean a nickle in Scottish.
The many many pillars are still present from Gimbels in present Burlington that’s in its spot. I can’t believe it’s really a 2 story building. Gimbels, to Hills, to Ames then to Burlington.
Love the intro; had a hard time finding it
Looks like North Side
Hmmm…wonder why they never let Tracy handle the cases himself, instead of having these sidekicks tackle the crooks, since he was the title character?
Because at the time this show was first aired, it was intentionally designed in a way that would allow for a kids show host would dress up as a police officer, pretend to call Dick Tracy, and then right after the intro it was supposed to look like Dick Tracy was calling him back. Unfortunately, these live-action segments are lost media.
No blacks allowed it’s sad there be no history without blacks here unfortunately fast forward today
Are we going to ignore that dick Tracy just did a drive by for no reason
First of all , I mean NO disrespect to anyone with what I have to say . I believe it was a Conspiracy to have Conneaut Lake Park removed ! . Look at all the property that surrounds the Park . Then ask yourself Why ? Would you let Todd Joseph walk right in and literally destroy the Park , and all the memories that each and everyone of us cherish of the Park ? It makes no sense to me at all . The people that dedicated their lives and hard earned money to the park , And all the Fan's that enjoyed the Park for what it was . We understood things were worn out and a little dirty . But that was what we looked forward too. I admit , My heart will always be broken because of this ignorance and planned failure . So when Mr. Joseph places his Condominiums there . I am sure all of you will enjoy counting your money and NOT your Blessings ! Thank You for reading my thoughts , and may God Bless all of Us . I sure do miss this Park !
Love Roller Derby and especially Charlie O
very cool footage. love these vintage hand built cars these guys built. wonder where this track was..
Richard Tracy. And Tracy, is misspelled. That Tracy, is the forename spelling, and 'Tracey', would be the surname. I took British descent class, 101 (not really)😏…………
In this case, dick is actually a slang term for detective. So his name literally means "Detective Tracy". Also, I believe Tracy is meant to be his first name, not his last name.
The square is not for standing it is an antenna
Visited Pittsburgh for 1st time last month and love the city... I just felt at home unlike anywhere else I've visited. Maybe it's all the saints connected to St Anthony's chapel? They're my family in Pittsburgh! Love the PCC streetcars... represents best times for life in Canada and US. We all have the PCC to remember so fondly! Greetings from Toronto Canada!
THOSE WERE THE DAYS WHEN THEY TOOK PRIDE IN BUILDING QUALITY APPLIANCES. THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE
The iconic architecture (or sculpture) that is associated with that Fair is The Trylon and Perisphere. A very large round ball or spherical shaped form and a tall narrow 3 sided pyramid. It was replicated into salt and pepper shakers, bookends, table top decor, and embossed into leather book jackets.
Hey,..really great footage! I happen to have collected some (antique) memorabilia, from that Worlds Fair. I collect salt and pepper shakers, many with architectural themes, from World Fairs and other significant monumental structures, like The Empire State Building. And I found a wonderful souvenir booklet, filled with photos, from that Fair.
Very cool footage. Thanks
It's wonderful to see these colorful scenes, with relaxed and happy fair-goers. But it's also distressing to know that just four months after the opening of the 1939 World's Fair in New York, World War II began. According to Wikipedia, some of the pavilions represented countries that had been invaded by the Axis powers, and were closed.
Also a bad flood in summer 86 IIRC
Pretty neat I gotta say, especially with it being in color
Its all synthetic now. Fake. Pretending to be something it aint.
Music is too ^&^%^%$ repetitive!
Try finding a 12 minute tune that is in the public domain ... LOL .. UA-cam does not allow copyright music
I like it
Whatever happened to the World’s Fairs?
16mm Kodachrome movie film had just been introduced by Kodak. This was the same filmstock used to create Viewmaster reels, which also appeared that year. Suddenly color film was available to the masses, and the World's Fair was a great subject. We're fortunate that this footage has been preserved - acetate film stock is not a permanent medium.
Thank you for adding that information ...
Fantastic quality! I believe my father went there ... You can imagine the impression that would have made on a 10 year old boy at the time!
2:34 Edgewood Ave in Swissvale, old Union Switch & Signal plant on the right.
The planners really went for thee “modern” look!
The unifying theme of the 1939 fair was "The World of Tomorrow", with the slogan "Dawn of a New Day". This made some sense, given that the world was only beginning to emerge from the depths of the Great Depression - which wouldn't entirely ease until the end of WWII.
God, that terrible animation I would watch as a kid, lol.
She was in the army during World War Two as a truck driver. She's at least 40 here.
Yes, like we said , YOUNG .. :)
3:30 Hmm. Not as stupid as he behaves.
