Runaway Horses is probably my favourite book of Mishima's - and I've read nearly everything translated into English. I remember during my first reading I found the Shinpuren section a bit of a drag to begin with (it is a relatively long section that, on first appearance, is divorced from the rest of the book), but when I had finished it I was left with such a vivid impression that stayed with me for years, and it's a fantastic device to have the pamphlet which radicalises Isao play out in full.
