Pimped my naked Yamaha RD 350 YPVS daily driver
Hi 2-stroke afficionados. I pimped my naked daily driver on the next level: My 1987 RD350YPVS (type 1WW) in the "N" (naked) version. See the first testride after setting the ignition and power valve curve of the ignitec-box and re-jetting the carburetors to the exhaust.
Unlike in my full-faired ("F") RD with Mikuni TMX30 carburetors, I use the original 26mm types of the 31K version here with a modified original airbox. Exhaust system is a used DN Performance, identical to the one in my "F" - Version RD with "bean can" silencers in the look of the stock silencers (thanks to Michael for building those).
During the testride two problems apeared:
The first is, that the idle jets (size 25) are to lean so it needs a bit more revs at lower throttle. I will change on 27,5 like in the original 26mm carbs of the 1WW.
The second: As you can see and hear in the vid, the clutch is sliding when the engine comes in full resonance with the exhaust at 10500 RPM. Especially in the higher gears. After I recogniced that I avoided the range over 10500 RPM on my way back in fear to burn up the clutch. I will add three more of the reinforced springs in the clutch. At the time of the testdrive a mix of three original springs and three reinforced were installed, combined with heavy duty EBC clutch discs and Rock Oil Gear Saver transmission oil.
But apart from the little problems: the thing runs and has a really wide and usable powerband.

Please bring back the lightweight two stroke street bikes!!! They would crush in sales.
2024.... Jetzt stell dir 6 Takte vor😂
Best Video ever ❤
runs good
Landstraße… die 2 muss stehen 😅
took me 40 years in the past, I had one of this 31k, unforgatable.
🔥💯🔝🔥💯🔝🔥💯🔝
Back in the day I had a 350LC that was ported, skimmed head, expansion chambers, all the usual stuff, it had a 'nasty' powerband that would only start at 9.5k, the engine then revved to 11.5k RPM. It needed a lot of work to keep the engine in one piece! The YPVS certainly helps give the bike in the video a better spread of power. Really when running the LC or the YPVS up above 10k you are wise to fit TZ big end bearings, they have silver coated cages and are very light so they help prevent the needles from skidding on the big end crank pin.
Hello, do you find her as dangerous as her fame indicates?
yes because of the lack of breaking, if you don't want to stop quickly it's ok.
I owned a ypvs 350 in 84 -85. Almost new , i put some allspeed pipes on it and re jetting. Whent like stink! A couple of years later i bought an all most new 1500 mile tzr 250. A lot lighter and better handling bike! All most as fast as the 350. Tzr was a better bike though...
Yes, that's the reason I put the USD front fork, swingarm, brakes and 17" wheels of the 1993 RGV250 in the RD350YPVS. Best handling combined with the tuned 385ccm engine is a serious package.
,,,,and they drank fuel, were infamous for 20mpg!

Fake video! I know this bike and I'm a rider since 1985. The tachometer and the camera aren't synchronized. You see 200 on the cockpit, but this is maybe an 80. A joke.
@@stargazer4359 Check the gearing ratio of an type 1WW RD350YPVS, count the gears in the video and compare it with the speedometer so you will see it's real. 6th gear at 10000 revs and then its 80 Km/h with an RD350YPVS? Aha. God bless yout math, genius...
A laaa verrrrgaaaa😮😮😮😮 jajajajjajajja sape gato 😮😮😮😮
nice bike. shit video.
I had one, the ride of your life ,like been strapped to rocket , some machine 😲😲
For how expensive these are, i thought it would be faster…
I m at the Start of be a owner of a 83s 31K (Pichler), would u might help me to give it some Performane, like which settings. Its stock now, i only have some other exhaust to fit.
She's a runner!
This is what i love about these two stokes.. all the meters will travel to their limit..no bs
I love the fact it has 73,000 on the clock and still runs beautifully I had a GT380 with 43,000 on the std pistons if you look after them they will go on forever
What a beautiful sound not to mention the smell. 🙂
😮😮😮 que maquina 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
P O E T R Y.
I recognise those clocks! Only mine were in English and iirc peaked out at 9,500. Which makes no sence because it still maxed at 125mph (200kmph)? Sprocket change no doubt? How often do you replace a piston?
From one of the same displacement we get 180 km/h. Greetings from Uruguay
lol where is your fairing??... Gotta watch that power band around intersections! lol
I had one in my 20s left many a 750 sitting,brilliant machine
2 Stroke Power 👊🏻. When i was 22 i had one too.
👍👍👍
Brings back memories from 40 years ago. Growing up I owned an 81 RD350, two 82 RD350s, and 85 RZ350 and 85 RZ500. Miss those days.
Beautiful. Had an rs 125 and one of this came past and knew I had to get one
❤
💘
Loved my 250/350 LCs and bought a brand new 350 ypvs …. Loved my Suzuki RGV250s as well 😊
I wish there were more of these in my country, RD350s here cost atleast 8k usd. And these are not even the lc variants. It's too expensive for a toy.
You need to put up more content, look at the amount of views you get! Great street bike too. I started on one of these years ago, by accident really... it was my brothers bike; '86 RZ350 in NZ. I had a lot of 2 stroke dirt bike experience first thankfully!
What a bike!!!!!!!!!!!!
Q lindo cara
Y ese sonido...
Tuve una, la arrancabas a pedal. Era increible ❤❤
topped out at 120 mph ??? my RD 125 went faster than that ???, this is no RD350, powerband, kicks in at 9.5000 rpm when it should be at 7,000 rpm .... my RD350 behaved totally different to this one and that one was factory (no add ons) she was a bitch to keep the front end on the ground
Thats two stroke 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
