Hi, I made the copper sheet myself. It is inspired from the PDF "electro-etching for champlevé enamelling" from L.R.Jackson. I attach the brass plate to this clip, using Vinyl sticker material. I bend this clip over the edge of my container with the etch solution. (Bend first, then pour the etching solution) For the plate on the bottom (cathode) I also use copper and bend en trim it to fit my container. You must try some angles to get the best distance between the clip (anode) and the cathode. (I my case ½ inch or so) Good luck!

Not silly at all! You could use brass plates to make an impression on brass, but it is not ideal, because the plates are equally hard. If you use silver, the brass is harder than the silver so it will not wear out as much. So yes, it will be possible, but you can only make a few impressions.

Thanks for your reply! Why I use photographic film: it is easy to use and it does hold with the electro-etching technique very well. I tried thermal paper but I did not get a clean image and had to retouch all the time...Coral Shaffer advised it in her document (Relief Etching for Jewelers and Enamelists) as well! Brand: I started with Puretch film, but it is expensive. and not available in small quantities. So I tried "Film voor PCB Circuit Productie Photoresist Sheet" (Amazon, 11 euro) and it works just fine. This is the film that is also used for circuit boards. Texture for jewelry: No, if have not yet used a texture plate for my jewelry, but it is posible for sure! Different metals: On the last slide in the film you can find information about other metals and etchants. I learned a lot by Coral Shaffer. Thickness of the brass: I used 24 gauge. I use fine silver to make the impression and it is so soft that it does not damage the brass. If you close the rolling mill too far you can damage the brass plate. So I see no need to use thicker brass (and thinner is cheaper...)
