Omg- LEMME TELL YOU BOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH A PICK ME GIRL. So there was this time where I missed like a month of school because I was recovering from surgery. For context, I got into a fog attack and had to get reconstruction surgery for the right side of my face, including my eyelid/eyeball. ANYWAYS- I’m taking medicine, staying out of the sun, doing online work, etc. The stitches are clear, and dissolved in water when they were ready to come out. (which was cool since I didn’t have to get them snipped out.) The day comes where I have to go back to school but I wear a mask because the sunlight can still damage the healing scar tissue. So I go through my day, the only person wearing a face mask at school, and make it to my last period. Well one of my stitches get CAUGHT ON THE FACE MASK, and I can *feel* it digging into the fabric, tugging on my skin. Naturally, I panic and go to the front of the room, asking if I could see the nurse. The teacher decides that he’ll handle it himself, so he tells me to take the mask off to try to cut the part that’s stuck in the fabric. So I do. BRO BRO- Tell me why this girl at the front of the class STANDS UP and LOUDLY EXCLAIMS: “OMG! ARE YOU OKAY?” And before you come at me, saying that that’s not that bad; right after that, she asked me if I was “BURNED IN A HOUSE FIRE” in front of the ENTIRE CLASS. I wanted to put that girl’s head through a wall.

My therapist brought up that it’s not unusual for children to be able to pick up nuances of who has power and who doesn’t, and sometimes want to identify/ally themselves with the ones perceived as powerful and learn to despise the “weak” ones. This was in the context of me learning to side with my father when he often insulted my mom but I wonder if a similar process is involved with pick me girls. Also sometimes boys really do like you better if you have this desperate for attention energy but only bc they sense that they can easily manipulate you

I was a girl that had a lot of guy friends (I was in JROTC and very few girls stayed in beyond 2nd year it was kinda unavoidable) but I never behaved that way. When they got girlfriends I was I was happy, because honestly, you can only listen to so many d!ck and fart jokes and Monty Python references before you go insane. 😂😂😂😂. I'm was one of those girls that would lean towards tomboy, but when the occasion called for being "girly," I ate, as the kids would say. I'm so disappointed to see that girls are doing this to each other. Its not needed. There's nothing wrong with being "one of the bros" but it's NOT OKAY to do it at another woman's expense. That's not how real tomboys operate.
