    Thanks for posting. We cannot hear the quality over UA-cam that you are recording. It's impossible to know the quality because the speakers on our phone aren't 1% of what you are playing from and the device you are using to record isn't able to capture half the quality. Can you post another video about your setup, tell us how you like the sound, describe the sound, give info on volume peaks, distortion (if any) , weight of the amplifier, ease of connection, etc. Thanks so very much.

    How does the top come off? I picked up a pair several years ago and they've been in storage waiting for me to fix them. One produces no sound. I recall it made sound when I bought them but it was much quieter. So I'd like to remove the top and look at the wiring.

    What's the rest of the system besides adcom 555? I'm using b& w matrix 802 series 3 as well but my bass drivers don't have that silver around each driver? Mine are all black. We're these drivers replaced? Thanks for the video! I use mine with a adcom gfp750 preamp, enlightened audio designs dsp-9000 pro series 3 dac (highly modded) along with a enlightened audio designs power master 2000 115 lb beast. Also rotate in a ead dsp 7000 series 3 dac and sad signature pre/pro. Still delivers effortless glorious music as it did in the late 90s and early 2000s !

      I was going to say the same thing. One thing I discovered is that on regular redbook CDs the EAD series 2 DACs sound better than series 3 DACs. This is due to the pm100 filter chip. This was also the case with any DAC that used that filter chip. Decades later only one manufacturer has discovered the same thing I did, so they did something to their DAC to bypass the HDCD chip when playing back non HDCD discs. Additionally, I owned the flagship Matrix 800s back in 1991 which I used to hear this degradation by the HDCD filter chip. They were high resolution speakers. Even though your preamp made Stereophile Class A one year my friends and I found it to sound like Class C (no offense). I guess you use the 9000 without preamp? Anyway, happy listening!

      @@carlosoliveira-rc2xt thanks for your thoughts on your experience with b&w speakers and ead dacs. I honestly don't put ,uch stock in the stereophile ratings. It's more of a overall easement from many sources. So it's just a single review. I can't speak for newer preamps but my adcom gfp750 with either the dap 7000 series 3 or the dap 9000 pro series 3 has shown me every change in my system over many years. I have tried the 9000 direct into my amp and it's ok but every thing gets better when using a preamp. I don't have my experience with the older series 2 ead dacs. My 9000 is not a standard stock one. It has been highly modified by the original designers. They also offer more upgrades I think as well. It's full of black gate caps and things to lower the digital noise floor and upgraded output stage as well. At first I wasn't to found of the upgrades but after the caps fully broke in (took many hours) it will compete with most great dacs of today for Redbook. I've heard some dealers put ead dacs up against some of dcs stuff. I wouldn't know as I don't have much experience with dcs. Not bad to be me mentioned from a dealer that carries and has seen everything roll through their showroom. Was your experience just with the dacs in ead CD players ? Or from their stand alone 1000, 7000, 9000 series dacs ? Thanks for sharing your experience. I bet those b&w matrix 800s were terrific! Those definately need a good sized room !

    • @carlosoliveira-rc2xt
      @carlosoliveira-rc2xt Рік тому

      @@brandonburr4900 I had the EAD 9000 and 7000. The 7000 was a series 1 upgraded to the series 2 with the PCM 63K chips. I knew the distributor and several other dealers so I also had free access to much gear the instant they were released. I believe it may have been moon that just a few years ago allowed the bypass of the PM 100 HDCD filter. Note the filter only negatively affected the reg red book and not the HDCD discs. Eli Gershman, a few weeks later also noted the degraded sound quality caused by the filter. At the time there were only a handful of HDCDs so series 3 upgrade was never a thing with me, in light of the degraded sound. While the series 2 was a huge step up from series 1, I still found the EAD DACs to sound smooth with a somewhat slow, full,but slightly woolly bass (9000 much better than 7000). At the time I preferred the Spectral SDR DAC and the top Theta DAC. Something to note about the matrix 800 series speakers was that initially B&W included the bass filter with the speakers but shortly afterwards it became an option at an additional $250 CDN charge. With the Matrix 800 the bass filter put a veiled haze over the midrange although it did wonders for the bass. Krell made a semi prototype that was much better at not screwing up the midrange and i was able to obtain one. Do you use a B&W bass alignment filter with your 802s?

    • @brandonburr4900
      @brandonburr4900 Рік тому

      @@carlosoliveira-rc2xt you mean moon audio? I believe moon audio had some rebadged ead eos theaters masters called legacy or stagnate back in the day? I'm fortunate with ead as they were far from me and in same state so I got to go visit, hang out and demo and pickup gear I purchased in the late nineties. Went back there to have older stuff serviced and upgraded through Nobel electronics that is still here. Some of the same designers at Nobel after they became alpha digital when they were purchase by tata labs in the early 2000a. I wonder what process they used to bypass the hdcd chip? Funny you mention the base alignment filters on the 800 series speakers. I didn't get the b&w ones. I purchasd a pair of golden flute base alignment filters specifically for my 802s. I head no such problems with the midrange on mine. The company that made them was abyss headphone parent company before they made headphones and made those and cable upgrades. I have seen the krells pop up for sale very rare. They was another company I think that made them called anodyne or something?

    I have a Jeep with 3 ft of ground clearance and 35 inch tires. One day my brother-in-law and I decided to go up and over a mountain even though it said danger ahead and we figured out what the danger was when we saw how bad it was raining. We didn't realize it but the tires were completely caked with mud and as soon as we started down the other side and tried to put on the brakes all we did was slide. On one side of the road all the way down there was a 500 ft drop until we got near the bottom. My brother-in-law said no offense but I might jump out if we start going over. I told him I'm open for suggestions and he suggested I put it in reverse I told him it's been in reverse for about a half a mile now and I'm even gunning it in reverse as we were sliding about 5 to 10 miles an hour we realized there was a huge rut on the mountain side almost 3 ft deep but it was our only hope so we slid into the rut and tried to not flip over but that's how we got down the mountain we stopped finally and then I put it in first gear granny low and then second gear granny low and stayed off the brakes. I think I gave myself some gray hair going down that mountain the fun part though was driving out onto the pavement when we were done as mud went flying sky high and all over cars that were trying to pass us. Went to a car wash and some stuck up little guy was wanting to be next until he saw the mess we left at the car wash 😎🤠
