The Rise & Fall of City Girl and Player Culture
The city girls and the players all fall victim to the idea that their pride, ego, and fear of being hurt is more important than their natural longing and desire for real value and connection. #citygirls #citygirl
in relationships
And in friendships
And because of that a lot of them find themselves catching feelings for the person that they initially had intentions on using

Why no one takes Domestic Violence serious

This topic may be triggering for some because in this video I am talking about #domesticviolence What inspired me to talk about this topic was the recent news surrounding Keke Palmer & her boyfriend Darius filing a restraining order for abuse and Cassie suing Diddy for abuse & other heinous crimes. I elaborate my thoughts about both situations & why we as the public react to them the way we do....

✅ I’m day one with hophop .. it’s been my whole life basically … been blessed to see the different changes that has occurred within the culture … before I give my take .. I want to say that I super digg what cats is doing today … a lot of talent is still out here and that’s what’s up … for the most part .. I think the fun and having a good time is missing in the music today … I also think that we have forgotten to make the music for the people rather than solely for ourselves … and the violence has made the culture dark and gloomy .. music is about touching the soul of others … it’s about making the fans feel some type of way … that’s the ingredient that’s missing in hiphop right now … peace ✅

I agree with everything you said here. I’ll always see “Miseducation” as a landmark, but everything after has tarnished it for me. I also have reluctantly come to conclude that she never properly followed up “Miseducation” because she can’t, because a lot of people contributed to making that album what it was but she burned bridges by not paying them or crediting their work, making it seem like it was all her. Look up an interview of Robert Glasper by Talib Kweli, where Glasper basically says he knows all the people who worked on it and how she didn’t acknowledge their work, and how she disrespected him, too. I’ll always love that album and the Fugees album before it, and a lot of her issues may stem from mental health. I hope she gets the support she needs, but it doesn’t excuse the way she treats her peers and her fans and it’s all kept her from being the artist she could’ve been if she were able to collaborate humbly and give credit where due. It’s sad, because that’s one of the best albums of all time and as a rap/singing double threat, she’s one of the best vocalists ever.

Very good video, subscribed! I love neo soul, and see it as a branch on the tree of what we might call “progressive soul” with ambitious arrangements and non conventional chords- stuff like Stevie Wonder, Minnie Riperton, Donny Hathaway, Gil Scott-Heron, Terry Callier, Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield. Acid jazz was another branch on that tree, and a close one, too. I think that part of what happened is due to the influence of J. Dilla, who was very involved in shaping the sound of neo soul at one point (working with Erykah) but by the time he worked on D’Angelo’s “Voodoo,” he’d ironically innovated the sound so much it didn’t sound like what people expected neo soul to sound like anymore. Today there are a lot of artists who borrow elements of past neo soul but do their own thing with it. I think everything Robert Glasper is involved in can be seen as an extension of neo soul, and in the UK there are artists like Cleo Sol and Lianne La Havas who collaborate with UK jazz musicians and hip hop artists to create what we might consider neo soul 2.0.

Hip hop these days is to me what rock was in the 80's, it was at the end of its life cycle as THE cultural influence. Rock became like a corporate parody of itself with hair metal. Modern hip hop is like this for me these days. I grew up in the "golden era" and hip hop these days like doesn't feel like anything. More like a vacuous parody of what hip hop used to be. But like rock, it just ceases to the be the main cultural force, and integrates into the culture.

What happened to singing…..for all music. What happened to artistry, musicality, instruments, the soul….just so you know I’m a old white guy who does not relate to rap at all but have this to say about all genres rock, country, blues and when I say that you have to take music over a long span, 1940’s to current. Even though there is much I didnt identify with it never sounded like noise, now most things just sound like noise. Country ain’t country, rock is thrash metal, blues and soul and r&b doesn’t exist and rap is well I guess rap. I miss being excited that something new was going to move me, so maybe I’m just old and ran my course. I did try telling my 19 year old there is nothing new that didn’t come from those that came before you and you should expand your library and have an appreciation of the old stuff if you like the new. If it helps movies have died in the same way for me. As evidence all that has been new is the comic book movies that weren’t created pre 2000 and now we are just in my childhood remaking old movies badly might I add, or making a movie out of a tv show that I watched that few have heard of these days. Wish everyone luck but think most have forsaken their roots and now things are at a dead end and you don’t have the true partisanship to create something new, certainly not better as music is someone sharing their story, that was worth sharing or something beneficial. Now just sex, drugs, and violence. It’s that what we deem beneficial? No need to answer that question, I know the real answer and I know the answer most will give. Truth, reality and perspective shouldn’t be far apart. Why are people old enough to know better than to condone these things still condoning. Best to all, I guess my rant doesn’t really make in any better of a spot, just love music very much, one of my only friends. Don’t shoot the messenger

First of all, we must understand that no one who can actually play music, as in actual musicians nor people who truly know good music is jealous or envious of newcomers who go to Best Buy this morning, buy a laptop, come home, download "Fruity Loops", oh excuse me, FL Studio and in a few hours are suddenly calling themselves Producers/ Musicians. The fact is, anyone over 3 or 4 years old can "make a beat," but because of this illusion, almost anything passes as music or Hip Hop, and therein lies the tragedy of it all. Technology is great and this is an amazing time to be a musician, however lets not get it twisted... We all know a real musician when we see one and a laptop, FL Studio, and 10 minutes does not a musician make. Lastly, take your time, learn your craft, and then make some meaningful contributions to the art/the culture.

i think an aspect you didn’t touch on is that a lot of hip hop listeners are male. and because of that, lyrics written by other men will be inherently more relatable. this is sort of shifting now, but it helps explain why hip hop has been historically male dominated.
