Tab: i.imgur.com/qrP6C18.png Here's an arpeggio exercise I came up with to help you play in one position. It's based around the G, C, and D chords. Practice til you can play it clean. I got a new camera recently, so I will have more videos coming soon. Let me know if there's anything you would like me to cover. Like, comment, subscribe!

Ernest Ranglin - Way Back When (sax solo)
Переглядів 92512 років тому
This is a saxophone solo on a song called "Way Back When" by Ernest Ranglin off the album, Gotcha (2001). I've always loved listening to this solo, so I decided to transcribe it! I tried to nail a lot, but not all, of the articulations that the sax player did. Kind of interesting transferring that stuff to guitar. Ernest Ranglin is a really great guitar player that combines a nice mixture of re...

Here's a quick little video on "unison bends". It's a cool sound where you play two notes, and bend the lower one up to reach the higher note. Try it out!
How to Use a Metronome! What? Yeah
Переглядів 26 тис.12 років тому
Seems like an easy thing to do, right? Turn on the metronome and go, right? Well there's a little more to it than just that. A lot of people own metronomes and don't use them "properly". Here's a video to help you practice with the metronome and achieve better rhythm. Any questions, let me know.

    wouldnt those be half note triplets because quarter not tripletes and normal triplets right? and you should do another video soon i really enjoyed this one

    • @KevinGuitarLessons
      @KevinGuitarLessons 10 років тому

      Thanks man, really appreciate that. As for the triplet thing, remember, it's fitting 3 notes where 2 normally go. So 3 quarter note triplets would fill 2 beats. 3 eighth note triplets will fill one beat. 3 sixteenth note triplets will fill half a beat. Would love to do another video, just don't really have many topics in mind that aren't already out there. If you have any ideas, let me know. Also, I lost my camera a while back, but will be getting another soon. Peace!

    I have a question for you (or anyone who knows about guitars). I understand the basic principle of the metronome. However, what if you are playing mostly notes and do things that pause rhythm, like string bending, string wobbles, or just pauses in general? It throws off my timing a lot.

    Aww thanks so much man! Yeah, I'm down a half step, my voice just didn't want to hit those high notes in standard. I even considered going down to D, but the guitar would have needed a whole setup. I have since acquired a wonderful Martin D-18, and I'm considering redoing some of my videos with it. The chords are pretty standard voicings, lemme know if you need help with anything. :)
