I’m Joshua Hume, the lead (and only) creator at Makery Pokery. I’m a professional filmmaker (mostly video editor) and I’m interested in every kind of making!
Expect to see projects involving woodworking, prop making, digital fabrication, resin casting, mold making, electronics, leatherwork, metal work, sewing, baking, and who knows what else.
You can also expect ABSURDLY INVOLVED Halloween costumes.
My approach to choosing projects is simple. It must be either: Fun to Make, or Fun to Have. Of course it’s best if the thing is both. But some things are super annoying to make, yet I love having them, and some things are pure joy to fabricate, but I don’t care about owning it at all (or it’s for a client).
I’ve learned (and continue to learn) so much from other creators on UA-cam, I hope my videos can contribute to this incredible community!
Failure is always an option (thanks Adam Savage). You can expect to see me exercise that option pretty regularly.

How to Make an Awesome Wooden Bike Basket
I made myself a super cool wooden bike basket for my electric bike. It's definitely much fancier than it needs to be, but who cares? It was a really fun build.
Normally I create my projects in Fusion 360, and then build them from precise plans I generate. This time, though, I just kind of made it up as I went along. I tried to show my thought process in the video, let me know if you like this sort of thing, and if it was clear the way I was working things out in my head.
NOTE: this bike basket is pretty big, since I sized it for my camera bag, and is also HEAVY. Since it's for my electric bike, I didn't really bother about the weight. If I were going to make one for my regular bike, I'd make it MUCH lighter.

Crosscut Sled with Removable Zero Clearance Insert
Переглядів 4,9 тис.3 роки тому
Subscribe for more videos like this one! ua-cam.com/users/ParameterWorkshop?_subconfirmation=1 This table saw sled with removable zero clearance insert solves a problem I had in my wood shop. I use my table saw sled a lot and for different purposes but all of them require zero clearance to make cuts without blow out. I designed and built this table saw sled with a removable insert so I can have...
Easy DIY Holiday Decoration
Переглядів 1243 роки тому
Here's an easy DIY Christmas decoration that can be made with minimal tools. I used lots of tools because I have them, but you could also just do this with some pieces of scrap wood, a jigsaw, and a sander. I actually made this thing last year, but too late to post the video, so I've had the finished product on my bookshelf all year, and it's really fun to have! If you need a last minute woodwo...
Plywood + Hardwood Moveable Storage Rack

If you have any questions please e-mail me through my about page! The shop set up continues with the addition of wood storage. Plywood, hardwood, offcuts, projects I may or may not finish - it holds it all. With a simple design and easy to build with minimal tools this plywood and hardwood moveable storage rack is a great option for a mid to large scale wood shop. The height may pose a limitati...
Rolling Plywood Shop Cart
Переглядів 19 тис.4 роки тому
I built this table to solve my own shop issue - bench space. This plywood work bench is a simple addition to any shop that is hard to live without. The ability to move projects around the shop as you work on them so they are closer to different machines is a serious time saver. The ability to store my air compressor underneath while keeping it mobile also adds versatility to my pneumatic tools....
Setting up my new Wood Shop (with difficulty)
Переглядів 2524 роки тому
ua-cam.com/channels/9jWRsFvIu0bYmCLrZ5freg.html You may notice that a few of my previous videos featured a "new shop" that wasn't this one. You're correct. This is my new NEW shop - bigger, cleaner, and quieter. Given the concrete walls that surround my space I needed something that was adjustable and adaptable. I need to be able to hang tools, store wood and optimize my work shop flow. This vi...
How to Build Rolling Shop Cabinets For Storage
Переглядів 3,9 тис.4 роки тому
If you enjoyed this video please consider subscribing to follow along as I make my transition from the film industry to the world of woodworking. It won't always be smooth or perfect but I will always be honest with my mistakes. I am trying to give you a raw experience of what starting a wood shop is actually like. The first rolling cabinet I made using pocket holes and screws. The second I mad...
How to Make a Stool out of 1/2 sheet of plywood
Переглядів 3 тис.4 роки тому
I made a very simple stool for use in my workshop. I used a little less than 1/2 sheet of plywood. I used a router table, track saw, jig saw, and sander, nail gun, drill and drivers, glue, pin nails, and screws. You could make this with a lot fewer tools. It's a simple project that yields a useful result. This is the DiResta video that I mentioned. I used the same approach as he did, with sever...
How to Make a Solid Wooden Headboard (Mistakes Were Made)
Переглядів 7415 років тому
I made a new headboard for my bed out of hard maple, with a faux live edge, finished with a white wood wax. It came out great! It’s a fairly straightforward project, basically just a big panel glue-up with a faux live edge. But for some reason it was also the biggest pain in my neck of anything I've ever made. On the plus side, I don’t think I’ve ever learned more on a single project than I did...
How to Make a Pen Holder
Переглядів 11 тис.5 років тому
My wife does Bullet Journaling, and has loads of pens that were kind of a mess, so I made her a Pen Holder. She loves it! She also uses it every day, which makes us both happy. I made it out of glass green acrylic and a small piece of old teak. This is my favorite video to date, I hope you like it! Please like and subscribe. This video does not have any narration, since I wanted to experiment w...
How to Make Shadow Boxes
Переглядів 8 тис.5 років тому
This week I made shadow boxes out of cherry wood, to hold my friend's collages. I used box joints, and made neat little retainer clips for the glass, using magnets. This video has a fairly detailed explanation of how to mill wood square. I also had a few issues with some pretty bad tear out, since I didn't use a fresh backer board in my box joint jig, and I go over how I dealt with this problem...
Track Case for Festool Track Saw
Переглядів 3,9 тис.5 років тому
I made a track case for my Festool track saw. Festool makes a great track saw - I have the TS55, and I love the cuts it makes. The thing about track saws, though, is that they are only as good as their tracks. If you damage the tracks past a certain point, you may as well just use a regular old circular saw. And like all things Festool, the tracks are not cheap. So it pays to take care of them,...

Needlessly Fancy Scalpel Case, Made on Glowforge
Переглядів 1826 років тому
Just showing off the fancy case I made for my craft scalpel.
Thanks for posting
I know this is years old but 1) the quality is awesome 😊 and 2) I am using this to build a table to hold my air compressor. Appreciate this!
No comments in 6 years?? What a shame :( terribly cool idea very well executed 👏👏👏
I wish i have some hays😣
Too heavy. Too high borders. Non quick-removable.
I made something similar for my wife’s Cricut station. Her favorite colour is purple so of course I made it out of Purple Heart. No laser cutter for me so it was a few hours in front of the drill press and then some careful sanding and dremel tooling to get the holes all looking nice.
“Please fit” so many times I’ve been in that situation
Been planning to build a cart for my large kitchen. Watched a dozen cart videos and yours is my favorite. One guy must have cut 40 pieces of wood. You and I however like fewer pieces for both simplicity and structural strength. Well done. Now I have a plan.
Looks nice. But too heavy for a bike rack. And won’t hold up to rain. But looks nice.
I'm crying because I have no woodworking tools.
Just found your video and really enjoyed it.
Very nice. Let's see Paul Allen's artisanal basket.
I do own a track saw and have been thinking of building a case to keep my track in. I find it somewhat ironic that all the videos I have watched so far none of them have used their track saws to make the box.
I think they sell these new for fifty dollars.
Thanks mate - this is a well presented and professionally edited video. A credit to you, and thanks for leaving in the bloopers also. We all learn from others mistakes. Cheers from the Sunny Coast of Queensland in Australia!!
What I now do to ensure the rear fence is square is to have one side of the base and the corresponding fence rail past the edge of the table saw base. Screw the fence at the opposite end to the base (actually the base to the fence) and then clamp the longer overhanging side. If not square using the 3 or 5 cut method, clamp a block to the overhanging end plus/minus the width of a feeler gauge strip and re-clamp the block. Now you have no extra holes. When the fence is square, drill and screw the base to the rail. Thanks to Nick Engler at Workshop Companion, for his tip on doing it.
Really nice. I wonder how much it weighs.
at least 20 tools are being used here.
This is so awesome. What a great idea - thanks for the inspiration and view into the process.
Where did you get that specific bike rack?
Use MIK system and you can easily take off and on...
And lucky me I don't have any of the tools shown!
Nice job god bless
Nice work, but for me it looks too heavy. Would prefer lighter or thinner material.
Nice edit! you gave me Ideia for adapting the Ulock my back basket, thanks!
I want one for my bike. I wonder if this guy sells these. I wounder if he has a website
Nice idea with the magnets
Whoa, I feel like I'm watching myself. I'm gathering intel on a combo sled.....glad I found your vid. Def like your build. Next up, your your 5 cut adventure.
Mega Hammer Teil 😮😊❤
Great!!! now I need a Domino jointer a CNC machine, those Veritas spacer.... and a new box. ;) but really Nice work!
Question if you would. - Have you had any issues from the replacable fence insert? I am building a sled and have a concern that the accuracy is largely dependent on the fence and if the insert is not precisely the same thickness and aligned with the rest of the fence - it could introduce errors. Or am I overthinking this?
I haven't had any issues with the fence insert, maybe because it's a pretty tight fit, and also because it doesn't get cut all the way to the top of the piece, so there's more holding power from the tape? I did end up making the sled insert larger so it could be screwed down. Trying to keep it flat with tape alone proved too annoying in the long run.
👍👍
fine! but the taillight would be better protected when still on the old hight but more backwards shifted to be in line with the back of the basket. (this way it would be also be more reflecting rays of the head lights of following vehicles) putting the lock on the basket is surely practically.
New subscriber from Philippines ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's Amazing. I wish I had the patience to make something like that.
Wish u made more of these, I'd love to buy one!
Wow! I wonder if you might be willing to discuss making one like this for my new KBO Ranger e-bike? Let me know, THANKS and keep up the great work!...
I need build something like this and add it speakers
Mad skills! Love it!
I love this video because it combines all my favorite things!
im struggling to figure out what your favorite things are. “all” implies at least 3 things.. so uh... woodworking, biking, and.. baskets?
Nailed it.
I could buy so much more I need when I go to the thrift store. Panniers only do so much.
Thanks for this. I might've missed it in the video--but I don't think you showed how the zero clearance inserts stay in place after you cut the kerf or dado thru the sled. I'm assuming double stick tape--but maybe you have another trick. Thanks again.
You're the proud owner of bicycle with weird wallnut furniture... I mean crate.
Holy crap, this is a terrible design. No one has a functional brain anymore.
can I put my dog in there?
What was that lil box you used to measure the tape lines?
Nice looking project. As a wood butcher I would have used plywood with glue and screws, and then covered my sins with paint.
😂😂😂
Nice work way too heavy
You’re very talented. Awesome job.
I like it and like the way you made it with normal tools ✌🏽🇿🇦
