I have the Standard Electric Version shown with two paper tapes and a few extra tapes in cans, plus one slave clock on a lower floor of the house. They have worked perfectly since 1999 when I bought them at an auction and had to do all the same debug work as shown in the video. It works fine on 12V if there is enough current and drives both the winder and slave solenoids. Apparently it came from the original Local Highschool.

I just received my great grandfather’s Seth Thomas pat. Feb. 5 1876 calendar clock and have gotten a lot of information about how the mechanisms work. The insides of my calendar clock seems to differ from the one you are showing. The mechanism that controls the calendar has just a center post with 2 arms coming off of it. Should it work the same way. I haven’t removed the faces as I just receive it back from the repair shop. They said they wouldn’t work on the calendar as the parts are too hard to find, but it seems to work as of now. Is there a way to tell if it works the same? Thank you for explaining everything about the way the calendar knows when to change the dates. It’s really facilitating how it works

I JUST bought this bell, at least a very similar one! [Funny too because it is in Minnesota as well] Sadly the clapper doesn’t hit the bell no matter how I adjust it. Not sure if it’s broken or if the bell gong itself is too small for this clapper. Maybe the clapper must be bent? I am not sure if that’s good for it though. Sadly not sure what the rating is either. Can’t get any other information out of it

I have a beautiful Chelsea ship's wheel style clock and barometer set manufactured in 1972. The casings are made from brass and the ship's wheel rim is bronze. I asked Chelsea to give me some advice about cleaning and polishing. Their answer was "We don’t recommend any cleaners regardless finish as underneath it is all solid brass. Clean rag and pledge only."

Just found this video while looking for answers. Hope you don't mind a question, I would greatly appreciate your help/input. I just received a watch with an Elgin 7640023 from 1899. I would imagine this is a pocket watch movement (small) that was re-purposed in a watch case. My question is this, I figured out I have to push in the crown and wind while pushed in. When I pull out the crown to set the time it is very very easy for the crown to come out al the way in my fingers. I have to wiggle it and find its way back in, then get to a position where I can set the hands and leave it. The crown stays in, turn sideways stays in. But if I pull it to set the hands it comes out too easily. I notice in your video that the pendant set has that pendant part and appears that it would keep the crown from falling out. Is this normal that if the pendant part is not there it is very easy for the crown to slide all the way out? Or should it be more difficult to come out even in my example? Again, thank you so much for your "time". :)

I have a 1920s standard electric clock I just purchased from an antique dealer in Reading Pennsylvania, he purchased it from an action in New York . He had no idea if the clock ran or not but I took a chance on it because it was all original. I did get the clock to run but im concerned if it has the original pendulum on it , the pointer is past the scale at the bottom , the clock runs perfect and keeps time to the minute with my watch . How can I send you pictures of my clock to give me your opinion. Thank you in advance!

Before you go any further, you're going to have to bring back waistcoats (vests). Right now, in Europe, you're going to struggle to sell an Omega, one hundred year old solid silver pocket watch in near perfect condition, for more than the cost of the silver scrap value.

Awesome presentation! I'm so curious about this clock's features and function, knowing nothing about it. I'll go back and search for your previous video of the total rebuild of one like this. I don't understand the purpose and operation of the tape drive. And curious to know why the clock runs on 24 volts instead of 120. My apologies, I"m new to all this!!!! Love your channel and all your episodes!!!! Thank you!!

I've been dealing with a Siemens-Halske 1959-ish master clock and been struggling with how would I maintain it since it needs a complete cleaning from old improper grease. Thanks to your video I just now realised that the pendulum and the mechanism are not connected, just engaged! That helps a buch. Seems obvious in hindsight! thanks

In conductor training for the CSX in 1998, I recall they had no criteria for a "railroad watch." They told us there was standard RR time, and it was the train crew's responsibility to adhere to it. I believe you could check the time via radio. I was in freight service, so time was only critical if you had a track warrant valid between certain times. When you accessed the company computer, for example to clock in and out, the computer put the time in for us.

I worked for Standard Electric Time from 1972 to 1978. I trained on the "60" beater clocks. I have some service data. International time became Simplex. Standard was always standard. Standard was owned by Johnson Controls in the 70's. Standard was sold to Faraday. Faraday was eventually adsorbed into siemens. The Standard products were discontinued.
