What Airline is Really Operating Your Flight? Regional Airlines Explained

There are lots of smaller regional airlines in the United States who operate flights on behalf of larger airlines, but can you guess how large this operation is? Great video. Please use shorter sentences with frequenr pauses, change pitch and volume frequently to not sound like a monologue. Your channel would grow a lot. All the best
What is the difference between the mainline airline and regional airline ?
Can you make a video on MHT please
As has been mentioned in many comments, almost every regional airline pilot group is unionized. The only major regional airline without a union is Skywest.
Also, the 76 seat requirement had nothing to do with total number of flights. The 76 clause had to do with pilot furloughs. If pilots before a certain hire date (I forget the exact date) were furloughed, United could no longer fly 76 seat regionals. United furloughed pilots that had been hired before that date and therefore had to remove the six seats. There was no tie of total flying to the 76 requirement. While this isn't a terrible intro video to scope clauses, this is the problem with getting all information from Wikipedia.
"Smaller city..." proceeds to show 1 city that is over twice as large as the other...
To be honest… regional airliners are kinda cozy
Really want to see the EMB 195E2 be used as RJs
No that's way way way to big that's a fully mainline sized aircraft that should be flown at mainline pay by mainline crew
Really loved the video!
In Ireland (before stobart air went bust) Aer Lingus Flew Filghts Around The Country Under "Aer Lingus Regional" Operated by Stobart just like in The US
The cancer killing the American airline industry.
☑️
BTW, the production of CRJs ceased just before the transaction to sell the product line to Mitsubishi was signed. MHI only does maintenance for the remaining fleet. The negotiation of scope will be interesting because alrlines seem to want to get read of 50 seat jets, so one has to look to see if there will be accomodations for 50 seat jets going forward. (cure the CRTC 700 <cough> 550 to United which may magically get back to 700 capacity if there is no longer any advantage to flying 50 seat vs 70 seat aircraft. And with the disappearance of 50 seaters, does this mean rebirth of Dash-8 and ATR-72 ? Dash-8 is out of production (now owned by de Havilland Canada after Bombardier's quasi bankruptcy, but they not only ended production, but are being evicted from production facility in DOwnview Ontario (Bombardier sold the plan to developper with clause it woudl vacate the building by a certain date, and when deHavilland bought the product from Bombardeir, in inrehited that lease and eviction conditions).
The challenge is airlines dont want to fly 50 seats anymore. Will be interesting to see how contracts are effected.
Great videos on aviation
Try adding some background music to your videos to make them more entertaining. Love your videos!
Bro I'm shocked you're making Wendover Productions quality videos if not higher quality, and you only got 200 subs. You're gonna grow to a million subs just keep going, I love your videos!
I'm a flight attendant for Skywest. Absolutely love my company. We keep business travelers moving. The King of Regional Airlines.
Sorry, but no one cares about the regionals.
@@TB-um1xz tell that to the business traveler and have a blessed day.
@@MsAries1968 Exactly! They don't care. As long as you get them to their destination, that's all that matters. Tell me, how do I buy a ticket on Skywest website? I'll wait.
@@TB-um1xz We are large enough to be a mainline but make more money leasing to mainline. We are the only Airlines that made a profit entire pandemic no furloughed employees and we recieved bonuses all 4 quarters. I could go to mainline but choose to work for a company that's more like a family. Besides that I fly for free on absolutely every carrier. We have the best benefits in aviation.
@@MsAries1968 First. You don't fly for free, I'm sure you have to pay an enrollment fee. Plus you fly standby, I flew for the regionals for 5 years. Try and fly between ATL and MCO during the busiest time of the year. Second. Don't try and act like "mainline." Who really owns those planes? If one day AA, DAL, and UA decides to park your planes, what happens to you then. The regionals are just puppets. Being told what to do and how to whipsaw each other.
Regional airlines are when they serve you dope.
great vids man!
why make an aviation video if you can’t pronounce Piedmont?
... see that the flight number has four digits, nod your head sagely, knowing you're about to get on a commuter jet...
Hello, You make a general statement that regional pilots are non union. I know that my regional airline is a union airline (pilots, FA, mechs, dispatch etc) also most of the other carriers in this class have union flight crews. You are correct in the fact that the scope clauses do cause issues for regional carriers and are forcing them to be creative.
Scope is bad !!!
Scope is very very good
Two syllables Pied Mont
One big falsehood. Most regional airline pilots ARE unionized. Only one in the US is not.
Well done
Really nice informative video! Thanks
instead of delaying people by randomly removing 6 seats and later restoring them serve the customer with the seats they want.
And ground the united express fleet? Cause that's the contractual requirement, that or ground the entire mainline fleet
recently i flew round trip between BDL and DCA. large text was American Eagle. what was the regional carrier?
Yes! American does not fly any American eagle branded planes
It was Envoy Air en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Envoy_Air_destinations
@@benjaminpitman2980 more likely PSA. Depends what type it was, if it was an E175 it was Republic or Envoy, if it was a CRJ it was PSA
This is great, it's a lot like wendover productions but that's not a bad thing
Awesome videos! Looking forward to the next ones.
Great video and informative, but the majority of regional airlines do have unions. The only one I can think of off the top of my head, without a union, is SkyWest.
you are so underrated, you dont even know. keep up the good work my guy
I can't accept the fact you only have 98 subs... This is quality content
300th like, and 92nd subscriber, you deserve at least 100k subs.
"a small city" - Cincinnati... instant dislike lmao
remember me when you get millions of subs
very underrated video you just earned a sub
The stingy honey unsurprisingly accept because napkin curiously whistle aboard a scattered low. quickest, royal clock
83rd subscriber! Just showed up on my feed. Monti, you have a good thing going on on your channel. Looking forward to your future videos.👍👍
wow!!! you deserve so much more subs, when you have 80000 i'll say i was here since 80
Great video but one correction. Almost all regional airlines ARE unionized and even with the main union that the major airline is with.
Bomb-body-yay
As an Alaskan Airline employee for 4 years, I like this video! Great explanation!
The Sky King Lives
As a pilot for Skywest, this is a good simplified explanation of how it at all works.
Is that why a lot of mainline pilots call you guys regional pukes?
Skywest is trash. Hope you find that mainline job soon

@@forevergrateful4743 nah, dk what your talking abiut
This channel has great video quality.
Really high quality video, couldnt distinguish it from a channel with like 800k subs
Really good explanation. I get asked these questions often and this video spells it all out nicely
great video, highly informative. Would love to see what you have in the pipeline! Do you have a discord or are you planning to have one soon?
I was the 56th sub... after the regional airline video... This channel have potential
