1965 Ford Anglia 106E Recap - What we did so far & what we are up to
The big problem with Caddillac over the years they wear out too cheaply built but the price was always high But back in the fifties and sixties Caddillac was so sexy with names like Coupe DeVille And Fleetwood and Eldorado now they are boxy and even got rid of the names now it’s x-5 I wonder how car companies just hire anyone and say have at it Cadillac always out sold Lincoln because they were SEXY FLASHY NOT NO MORE
I have always thought the early Seville was a good looking Nova But every time i said that people would tell me they not the same at all
FIRST CLASS job.
I had that four-door sedan that was my first Cadillac Seville 1976
Right to left suggests the car is for the driver. Left to right suggests passenger entry. 10:29 This ad placing the Seville with the monumental redwoods in California suggests that the car, too, is monumental and belongs with something as timeless and with longevity. Also, I agree with you, the (75)76 Seville front is best! 13:38 The woman included in the ad, left to right, is, again suggesting the woman is a companion, or passenger. The beach scene is classic for lovers, endless ocean like an enduring relationship, and the enduring relationship is also with the car.. 18:12 The ad, the car is placed in front of San Francisco City Hall, near the gates leading to the San Francisco Opera. 20:36 Showing a black family as upwardly mobile is significant as more Black Americans were making strides towards wealth at this time. Also, the placement in a national park suggests freedom of movement, another cornerstone of Black American success.
I wonder if you can just put a Holley EFI Sniper II on this car would that fix the issue.
Can you upgrade these 5.7 to E85 I would to see a Build doing this nothing crazy just a little performance upgrade.
I have a 1979 Seville and its the black air cleaner with “Electronic Fuel Injection”. In blue , my parents 78 had the same so thinking maybe 1978 for the black air cleaner housing.
Automotive abortions....
I really enjoy your videos and I am very impressed with the work that you do. Do not feel bad about turning the bolt the wrong way. That's an easy mistake to make. Anyone could make that mistake too. I look forward to the next video.
Bummer. Looks so much better and safer with the red turn signals
I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for bringing us along for the ride. Austria is a beautiful country. Have you had any trouble with your automatic level control? I would really like to see you work on that feature if it is currently not working on your beautiful Seville.
I'm Looking For One Right Now
225 that convertable cold jack
I love the original body of the Seville
Any chance you have the links for these parts ? :) I would love to fit a dual exhaust to my 78 seville Best regards from Denmark
How could somebody work with flip-flops on? I could never do it.
I found all new from 1978 still in the package for my V8 chevy for $350 or I can buy a Proform one for $160
76 my favorite😍
Hi mate, my 76 seville's distributor is broken and needs replacement, but the old one can not be taken out easily, even with a lot of force. I wonder if you have had the same experience. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your complete video when you were dismantling and reinstalling the distributor. 👍
Hi Champion, Thanks for your precious videos. I have a 76 seville, its distributor is broken and requires replacement. but the problem is the old one can not be taken out , many tries failed even with so much force. I wonder if you have any advice or idea to share and help to take that out! 👍
Thank you for the very good information. I wonder if you can make a video of cadillac seville 1976-79 regarding the vehicle parts and components and how they work and company maintenance procedures, if a part needs replacement. Cheers
I have a cadillac seville 1976. it's a head turner. absolutely lovely and gorgeous, but It doesn't have a door handle illuminated light feature. Just wondering if that feature comes after 1976!
1966 Oldsmobile Toronado, 1967 Cadillac Eldorado, 1971 Oldsmobile Toronado, 1971 Cadillac Eldorado, 1976 Cadillac Seville, 1979 Oldsmobile Toronado, 1979 Buick Riviera, 1979 Cadillac Eldorado & 1980 Cadillac Seville; GM's wannabe futuristic but still traditionally obsolete & obsoletely American luxury cars.
1st gen Seville was unibody RWD with 2 subframes front & rear joined together running underneath the entire body with a retrograded leaf-sprung live axle. 2nd gen was body-on-frame FWD. One thing upgraded, the other degraded which was more crucial. Then the loyalists in the 1960s called the mechanically superior Mercedes as inferior. It was all bound to doom one day. It did.
This was my dream car as a 14 year old kid. Not the Firebird Trans AM or the Camero. Still has clean lines in 2024, with nothing over done.
Wow… working on your car in a carport… It's better than working in a parking lot or on the street but it's still, technically, outdoors. I've been there and done that back in the day, most recently when my fuel pump sprung a leak: ua-cam.com/video/OxVu5tDMumw/v-deo.html Watching you struggle, indeed, reminds me of the first several years I worked on my '74 Chevy Monte Carlo and '68 Cadillac before I ultimately bought a house with an enclosed garage. Like you, I've done my share of improvising and making due with the tools I had. As the years have gone by, I slowly acquired specialty tools here and there, and each time I acquired another one, I asked myself why I didn't get it sooner. It's a little like the Clint Eastwood movie _Grand Torino_ where the Hmong teenager, Thao, asks Walt when he got all the tools in his garage and Walt answers, "I didn't get them all at once, I collected them as I went along." Good on you for your perseverance.
The one thing that will absolutely shorten the life of an automatic transmission is excess heat resulting in burnt fluid and reduced lubricity. That's why I encourage people to install an RV grade auxiliary transmission cooler. I installed one on my car decades ago and my current transmission has 200K+ miles.
I agree with @nemoyuno162, you likely have a failed diode in your alternator. It may help you to understand the role of the alternator light. The alternator doesn't have a permanent magnet in it, it uses an electromagnet. There's a sequence of events that happens in the alternator when you start the car. When the ignition switch is moved to the RUN position, it energizes the stationary windings via the alternator light - current is flowing from the ignition switch through the light to the alternator windings. The dash light lights up because the diodes in the alternator only allow current to flow one direction and behave as a closed circuit. The windings need to be energized in order for the alternator to generate electricity. When the alternator spins above ~1000 RPM, it self-energizes and current tries to flow against the diode which it can't since the diode only allows current to flow one-way, thus the light goes out. Your symptoms are consistent with a bad diode. The easy fix is to rebuild or replace the alternator. I suggest you disconnect the alternator charging wire and use a jumper wire to connect it directly to the battery "+" terminal and unplug the 2-wire plug then test for the parasitic draw.
Who did you order Seville emblem from?
Yes you forgot to say C.B RADIO 😮
Have your replaced at gas tank on a Seville?
Just by looking at the video, I think the oil does not look bad at all! It is still red/pink as it should be. At the end of the tube it looks a little brownish, but this is most likely due to the discoloration of the plastic of your tube. However, most important, you must smell the oil. Best, right on the dipstick. If it smells burnt, this may be an evidence that something is not ok with your tranny. Just for you to know, it is normal that you have some sludge in the pan after all the years of use. I wouldn't even wonder if this is still the oil from the factory.
It's not factory oil. There's a plastic cap in the hole where the dipstick tube goes. When the transmission is installed from the factory, they simply push the dipstick tube into the case, thus pushing the cap into the pan.
I don't understand why automatic transmission oil pans do not have a drain plug!
It should be noted that transmission fluid is a hydraulic fluid with lubricating properties. It never gets exposed to any of the environments or materials that engine oil is exposed to. As such, it shouldn't need frequent service like engine oil. Consider you power steering, how often do you replace the fluid? Nevertheless, I replaced the transmission pan with an aftermarket pan that features a drain plug.
So glad you stopped that leak after so many years! I love the ride-alongs too! If the Seville is fixed, what will we do?
WOW!!! that was unbelievable!!!
I owned 5 sevilles I love them
and if it dosent work check the battery switch with spare one just to be sure . Next step if bouth of this dont work u have + - shorting ( any cable with rust etc can be it)
I had the same problem battery goes dead with car shut off. I found that the plus +12V to the alternator had a 4 ohm resistance and 2 amp drain continual. I will need to take the +12V alternator from accessory, key on. Or buy new Alt.
the egg-crate grille has been a continual/constant element for Cadillacs. Possibly I favor the waterfall grill (starting '77) only because either those were the ones that I had or the influence of the Rolls Royce grille. I think the egg-crate makes it look larger. it's a small element, but definitely changes the look. Bottom line I like them both
If it was that hot ( my formula for celsius to Fahrenheit: actual celsius temp doubled, then add 30), 35 celsius x 2=70+30=100 Fahrenheit I would not have had a clear head myself... and likely could have shorted out battery. Im glad it wasnt worse, I would have expected that to have more severe consequences. I cant focus when im uncomfortable or tired so that wouldn't have been the best day for me to be "wrenching"
What carburetor nozzle size did u use ? 95, 98, 101 ?
I cant get over your patience and display of perseverance!
I think I would have traded the car for another one by this point. haha. On my two older Caddy's (1986 Seville and 1988 Cimarron), I don't have any draws running batteries down. However, I still put a trickle charger on each one about every 30 to 40 days and let them charge overnight.
older/classic car clocks almost NEVER remain operable. My '79 had the clock in the radio (like yours does now) and I had that script in the "clock" area, but the '78 elegante' clock did not work either. its great you identified the problem, and would be great as well if it could be fixed!
its mind boggling how much detective work you've done on this!
i have the memory of a goldfish, did u try a thermal camera on the fusebox. it'll show which circuit has constant current
Awesome video / production
Hi , for American old-timers you need the green anti freeze or ?
GM vehicles typically use the orange antifreeze while Ford and Chrysler usually use green, although you can get "all vehicle" antifreeze.
Did you use a conical shaped metal gasket for the flare fittings as stated in the service manual? Is that a MUST?
