Hello Miss Charlotte, lovely to see you and your ornaments
Thank you! 😊
I enjoyed the Charlotte’s appearance…so much joy in that little girl! I’m getting ready to start the Seasonal girls as well…looking forward to sharing in that with you and Jackie.
Oh that’s great that you’ll be joining us Clare!
Great finish on the advent calendar, I hope you all enjoy it this year and in years to come. I hope you feel better now/soon. Great to catch up with you x
Thanks so much Natalie. The head cold is a persistent one!
Congratulations on you finishing your advent calender. Beautiful Thank you for sharing your stitching progress and future plans. Lovely to have Charlotte visit Happy stitching 😊❤
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Elizabeth.
Hi Sarah! I enjoyed your video especially getting to spend a little time with your sweet little Charlotte. She is so cute! Your stitched pieces are lovely! The Advent calendar turned out beautifully! I loved the historical Sampler and the Brenda Gervais piece, as well. Thank you for sharing. Please take care!
Thank you so much Barbara. It feels so good to have the advent calendar hanging ready for this weekend!
Your advent calendar looks fantastic - congratulations on getting it finished. I'm sure Charlotte will love using it. Rejoice Evermore is looking stunning and you are getting so close to a finish. I was over the moon to finally get a copy of the pattern recently and am planning to start on my birthday next year. For knitting sweaters, I would recommend Tin Can Knits for comprehensive patterns and they have some lovely free ones too. I've knit the cascading chevron cardigan, which was really simple and also the Whitmoor sweater. The Whitmoor sweater looks scary but the pattern is so good and explains everything brilliantly. For sock knitting, I'd recommend the tutorials from The Winwick Mum, as they are how I learnt, and West Yorkshire Spinners do a great sock yarn that she has actually designed a few colourways for too.
Should have said, cascading chevrons and Whitmoor are by different designers.
Thank you so much for the great suggestions Kelley. I was speaking to Black Sheep Wools yesterday and they advised Winwick mum and Yorkshire spinners so I’ve placed an order with them for my friend’s birthday present. I’ll also collate the info re sweater knitting and share it with her. Tin Can Knits has been suggested by a lot of folks, so that’s good to know! I’m so sorry I’ve been so long with the Rejoice Evermore pattern. 8 even have a note in my bag to pass it on to you when I’m done🙄 I’m glad you got hold of a copy, it’s a really beautiful stitch, I’ve just managed to let myself get distracted from it which is the only reason it has taken me so long!
@@sewmesarah Oh, don't worry about that - I think you've stitched it really quickly, especially taking your 50 starts into account! It'll probably take me twice as long...
Your advent is absolutely amazing. I’m just now coming and finding your floss tube. You’re a little girl is absolutely precious and is so smart. Thank you so much for sharing.❤
Thank you so much for watching and taking time to leave a sweet comment. I hope you’ll visit again!
A Oh my sweet Sarah. I'm so sorry your not feeling well. I'm a prayer lady so I will put your name in our Tuesday morning prayer group at my church. It was so good to see my miss Charlotte. I love her. She is so smart. And does not miss a thing. She is precious. And she does a good job on u tube. Throwing you kisses back miss Charlotte. See you next time ! Try to get some rest. If you can Sarah ..I have not stitched in a week and a half. Life has gotten in the way. My stove broke had to buy a new one and waiting for delivery and installation ugggg right before thanksgiving. Thank you for all you do. Have a blessed night. Linda from Rhode Island
Oh my Linda, I hope your stove will be delivered and installed in good time for your Thanksgiving celebrations. Isn’t it funny how one thing like that can upset the whole house, and it never happens in the middle of summer when you don’t really need it! 😉 As always, thanks for your sweet words about Charlotte.
Your Advent Calendar is marvelous! I'm sure Charlotte will delight in its daily use. It was so nice to see Charlotte and in truth, her giggles are contagious. Hope you are feeling better and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Thank you so much Theresa. Charlotte does love a giggle and she loves to make other people laugh too.
The Flax by Tin Can Knits is a good first sweater. I hope your holiday season will bring you some calm.
Thanks a million for the recommendation. I will pass it on to my friend.
Also, very interesting to hear about the K&S show - I wondered how many cross stitchers would be there, or even smaller vendors x
There were so many people there and lots of them buying all sorts so no shortage of customers, but for me we were really missing folks with a more modern eye to design , to fabrics for patchwork, for knitting patterns across the board. I would have loved to see you at Belfast, and know my friends would have too!
Lovely stitching Sarah as always. Ooh can't wait to hear what you thought of the K&S show - I've been wondering about doing that one x
For knitting I'd suggest Black Sheep Wools. Also winwick mum easy sock knitting book. Black sheep stock it and also self striping wool specially for these socks. They are easy to knit and there are on line video s to help.
Thank you so much Elaine. I spoke to Black Sheep yesterday and these are exactly what they advised, so I’ve placed an order for my friend’s birthday gift. 😊
@sewmesarah so pleased they could help. Shop not far from my house. Amazing selection of yarns!
I like following your Flosstubes Sarah and keeping up with the progress on your 50 starts with Sally, an amazing achievement! Maybe 2025 should be your year of finishes!! I may join you on the #BA4seasons sal, I've been wanting to start it and it's a great idea to break it down into solstice starts. I'll get it kitted up. These days I just want a quieter run up to Christmas too and hate all the conmercialism, I have cut my present list right back. Hope you feel much better soon. Happy Stitching 🪡 PS What's the point of hashtags if we can't follow them 🤔
Thank you Lynn. Yes, I’m so sad about the hashtags - their demise makes it harder for anyone without a UA-cam channel to participate in our SALs etc in the same way. Such a shame. Anyway, we’d love if you joined us for the Four Seasons SAL, it’s going to be first stitching up those girls.2025 should be a year of finishes, but don’t hold your breath! 🤣🤣
I love seeing the finished advent calendar!! I have followed along with you and it is so satisfying to see it finished. You must just be thrilled to have it hanging up for Christmas!!
Thank you so much for cheerleading me through the advent calendar Susan. I’m thrilled that it is finished and we can now use it when we put up our tree on Sunday.
🎉🎉🎉 Great finish on your advent calendar - it looks great and what persistence! Always lovely to see Charlotte and what fabulous happy mail from Lorraine in Canada. You must rest up - too much strain on your voice. Take care, Steph
Thank you Stephanie. Laureen’s gift was so gorgeous and generous. Charlotte will love hanging them on our tree.
Ah that’s a real shame about your Belfast Knitting&Stitching Sarah because the Harrogate one is brilliant with lots of Cross Stitch vendors. Sarah and I have been going for a few years. We had tickets for today 21/11 unfortunately we had to cancel, Sarah is not up to the journey or walking round there all day. Fabulous 18 year finish Sarah ! 🙌🏻🥳
Thanks Pauline. I’m so sorry that Sarah wasn’t feeling up to the show. It must be so hard for her. The Belfast show was very busy but I do think the expense of the ferry crossing isn’t worth it for vendors. Sadly we don’t have enough home grown vendors who are big enough to want to do the show either. Aw well, I’ll just have to go to more retreats where the shopping is exactly what I’m looking for 🤣🤣🤣😉
Congratulations on the finish of the Advent calendar!! Beautiful!! Tin Can Knits has beautiful sweater patterns for beginners. The directions are very easy to follow. They have several patterns and they are on Ravelry. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 on getting close to finishing your 50 starts. Ravelry has lots of sock patterns and if you get a pattern for what they call a “Vanilla” sock it should be easy enough for a beginner. Happy Holidays to you and your family. Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you so much for the knitting recommendations Vickie. That’s really helpful. I wanted to get a sock kit first my friend (don’t think I explained that very well on the video) and I know she’s been looking for a while for the beginner sweater. So, I will collate all these helpful responses for her.
Congratulations on your advent finish. It was worth the 16 year wait! Llovely to see Charlotte again, she giggles and we all laugh with her. X
Thank you so much. Her giggles are definitely infectious!
So lovely to see Charlotte! She is a joy and made me smile today.
Aw thank you, I’m glad Charlotte made you smile.
Hi Sarah, you all received some lovely gifts. 🥁🥁🥁 your advent calendar turned out so nice. I love the hanger you chose. I'm so upset about the hashtags on Instagram, I love following them.
Thank you so much. Yes, the hashtag situation is upsetting. It allowed those without a flosstube channel of their own to participate in the community of a SAL, but what now? Grrr!
Congratulations on your Christmas ffo it looks fantastic Sarah 👏
Thank you very much Katie.
Another fun video. Charlotte's smile and laughter, oh my, I needed that. I guess we will have to use hashtags more often on UA-cam. I read META's explanation for eliminating hashtag following, but it just feels like "we want to decide what you see, rather than you decide what you see". Urg.
Thanks for watching Heidi! I haven’t been very good at using hashtags on UA-cam this far, guess I’m going to have to learn. Your summary of the meta explanation is pretty much my experience of IG for the past 18 months. I saved the algorithms a big job by initially following lots of accounts I wanted to see the content of, but the algorithms have other ideas. Because once I stopped to watch something random and obscure, I now see lots of random and obscure instead of the 500 accounts I do want to see. I would apologise for ranting, but I know you don’t like that 😉🤣🤣🤣. My bigger concern is that only those of use with channels can now participate in the community of a SAL, for example, where before viewers with an IG account could be part of it too. 🙁
@ maybe Mark wants us to go back to Facebook?!? 😩
Pat you on the back!!! what a finish to be proud of….I bet Charlotte will enjoy her calendar...
Thank you so much Janie. It’s lovely to have a finished calendar to use after all this time.
Winwick Mum has a great sock tutorial on her website. For your friend TinCan Knits has beginner knitting patterns. I really enjoy your videos from Australia x
Thank you so much for the recommendations Sue.
Omgoodness Charlotte's giggles are so infectious I was giggling along with her ❤😂 the nativity advent calendar is brilliant and I'm sure Charlotte will love using it xx
Thanks Kirsty, she loves a good giggle.
It was such a fun visit from Charlotte! She is definitely growing up and learning so much. It was exciting to see her reading and the joy she was getting out of her special gift. I sure hope your voice comes back strong and you begin to feel much better.
Thanks Kristine. Charlotte loves to read and she was tickled to receive those sweet tree ornaments from Laureen.
Yay! Congratulations on the finish of the advent calendar; it looks so good on the wall 👏🏻. Lovely to see Charlotte again! I can well imagine that the excitement for her will be starting to build 😬. I could give it a miss too 😉. I gave up on the Knitting and Stitching show a few years back when there were only two cross stitch vendors. By the time we’d paid for travel/hotel/meals and entry we had spent a considerable amount of money; enough, I realised, to have paid to kit up and frame two or three large samplers! So disappointing; I used to really look forward to going. Rejoice evermore is beautiful. Take care, Sarah, don’t push yourself too hard. Hope you’re feeling much better soon. God bless.
I do love Christmas and feeling festive but sometimes there’s just sooooo much extra going on that festive gets replaced by exhausted 😉 Happily the Belfast show was close enough only to cost me admission but I know quite a few people had travelled for it like you did. Anyway, lots of folks seemed to be enjoying and making purchases so perhaps I just have more niche requirements 😉 Thanks for the knitting suggestions and your email (I will reply).
Great stitching and how lovely to see darling Charlotte. Sorry, I am a huge Christmas person - I had the house decorated by November 10th! I love seeing all my Christmas treasures. Hope you feel better soon. x
Thanks Sue. I do love Christmas and decorating and stitching, of course, I just don’t love how extra busy it gets. All for feeling festive, rather than exhausted! 😉
Absolutely beautiful FFO of the festive calendar! I love it. Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks Andrew. Good to have an 18 year old WIP finally finished!
Your daughter made my day! She has grown up so much.
Aw thank you. Yes, she’s getting bigger and more grown up every day it seems.
Wow the advent calendar turned out beautifully! Are you pleased you went ahead and did the border? It looks great! Also you might want to check out Marly Bird for beginner knit/crochet patterns. She posts lots of tutorials on you tube that are geared for beginners and she has both free & paid patterns online & on Ravelry. Good luck!
Thank you Dany. Yes, I’m really pleased I didn’t wimp out of doing the border. It was worth waiting to do it. Thanks for the knitting recommendations, I will share them with my friend.
A huge congratulations on the FFO of your advent calendar. I am so happy for you. I loved seeing Charlotte as always. Laureen is an absolute treasure of our community. Thank you for sharing!!
Laureen was so kind to send us those treasures. I’m thrilled to finally be able to use that advent calendar after such a long wait!
A very beginner sweater I have knit is called Brick by Clara Lee. I learned to knit socks by following the crazy sock lady vanilla sock videos on UA-cam. As far as socks I love watching Wholly Mammoth on UA-cam and her sock yarn looks beautiful ! Emma uses only yarn from local sheep and has started dyeing with plants from her garden. Even if you don't knit she is so relaxing to watch. She lives in Ireland also.
It was lovely seeing Charlotte. You both got some amazing goodies 🤩
Thank you for the great suggestions Emma, I will pass them on to my friend.
Hi Sarah, what a treat to see Charlotte, she is such a poppet, and looks like she is in the Christmas spirit. 🎄🎅🏼 A huge well done for finishing the Advent calendar. I hope you are as delighted with the result as I would be, it’s wonderful! Fabulous stitching, enabling and inspiring as always. I hope you can shake the cold you’ve caught, it’s the season, especially when school children are in the home. A quick question, what threads and fabric are you using for Strawberry Fields? I may join in but only have the chart so far. Take care and I hope you find some stitchy time during the chaos. 😊
Thanks Wendy! Charlotte is in the Christmas spirit from about February! 🤣 She loves it!! I’m looking forward to putting the tree up with her this weekend. For Strawberry Fields I’m using mostly called for threads but just substituted something similar where I didn’t have or couldn’t get something, and then, because I haven’t stitched on pink for a while I’ve chosen a 40 ct Zweigart blush (pale pink) for my fabric. I think the designs and colours lend themselves to a variety of fabric options - neutrals, silver, even a pale blue perhaps.
Thanks Sarah. I’m fortunate to have inherited many many pieces of Aida, Linen and evenweave from my mother. Unfortunately they are from the 70’s and early 80’s and all off white neutral, some she even brought back from a trip to Western Australia. I have not ventured into fabric dyeing but feel I must as I cannot justify purchasing coloured fabric with SO much in my stash. I think I have invented a new acronym not SABLE, but SIBLE Stash Inherited Beyond Life Expectancy 😂. I shouldn’t complain, but it’s all so neutral 😐. Bless Charlotte, I hope she never loses her Christmas spirit. We are not sure if my grandson grasps the Christmas occasion yet. He’s nearly six, nonverbal (but boy can he spell words!) with Autism. He loves the BBC trailers for Christmas films on UA-cam. Hey Duggee Christmas songs, but not the programmes. Time will tell. I hope you are feeling better. We are playing pass the lurgy here as well. It’s the season 🤧 Take care, hugs and a cwtch for Miss C. 😍
@ I’m sure it’s really hard just wanting your grandson to be able to understand and enjoy Christmas as we know it. I was watching a dad on IG last week who showed a video of his son asking for Christmas for the first time ever. He too is non verbal and is about 10 maybe now. He suddenly used his iPad voice machine to ask his dad if they could put up the Christmas tree and then spent the night dancing to the music. It was heartening because the dad has said that his son showed little interest or understanding up until then. Your grandson has great taste in Duggee music 😉 We are all in for Duggee and the Squirrels here too. Charlott3 likes the Singing Hands Christmas dvd too. Singing Hands are a makaton signing duo and you can get some of their songs videos on you tube ( nursery rhymes, Christmas and pop songs).
Drum roll for your finish. How beautiful. What a awesome surprise seeing Charlotte. It’s always nice spending time with you. Take care of yourself. Happy Stitching and Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks Mary, it feels good to have the calendar finished and ready to enjoy this Christmas season.
Your advent calendar is wonderful! I know you had considered eliminating the border, but I’m so happy to see that you opted to do it, it adds greatly. You did a beautiful job finishing it. No doubt Miss Charlotte will enjoy putting each ornament on it. Congratulations on coming into the home stretch on your 50 start challenge.
Thank you so much Jeanne. I’m really glad I completed the border as it was supposed to be too. I think maybe I just wavered and wondered if I would ever really get it finished if I went through with the border, but it has been worth waiting to do it. Thanks for your encouragement.
I love watching your videos... you make such beautiful things!! I love your Advent Calendar!! I have a different pattern I'd love to make sometime... not really sold on the calendar part but love the little things that hang on it... seeing yours has given me an idea!! How did you finish the calendar part? What did you display it on?😊
Thanks Jan. The calendar part is just finished by turning over and stitching a hem on the bottom and two sides. The hem at the top is a tiny bit deeper and not stitched closed at the sides to accommodate the dowel rod. I will hang the dowel in an existing black metal quilt hanger that you can see in the photos I posted, but you could just secure a piece of cording at each end of the dowel and hang it from a hook or pin. The back was then just finished by glueing on a piece of felt in the kit. I hope you are able to stitch up your own nativity to enjoy.
Dear Sarah, Charlotte always brings festive vibes to the flosstube. I wish you speed recovery ❤
Thank you so much Nouf!
Gold star to you Sarah for finishing the Advent Calendar. Charlotte is really progressing with her reading and it's good to see her smiling face. I'm so pleased you're having a go at Goldwork. That's another WIP I haven't touched for a few years!! This was going to be an embroidery year apart from the WA Sampler but I've ended up cross stitching and knitting up old wool mostly and now need to write the Christmas letters. Get well soon. Happy Birthday 😊
Thanks Jean. Sometimes plans get waylaid 😉 The goldwork is fun but definitely something a lot more practice is required first. It’s been good to have this wee introduction so far.
Such fun to just have the birds to fill in … always more exciting when the border is finished!
Yes, the end is in sight!
I’m very new to your channel and so it was so lovely to meet your daughter Charlotte. Great flosstube really looking forward to your next two starts and I’m in awe that you have managed 48 of your 50 starts wow well done 👏. Looking forward to seeing what’s in the advent calendar. Well done on your fully finished piece it is so beautiful and I bet you’re sooo glad it’s finally done and can be enjoyed by Charlotte too ❤xx
Thank you so much for giving the channel a try and leaving this lovely comment. It’s great having the advent calendar finished after so long. I look forward to us all enjoying it properly for years to come.
Hi Sarah! Sorry to hear about the Belfast stitching show. Me and mama are travelling up to Harrogate one so I’ll have to see what that’s like and report! 😂 amazing finish on the advent. So many moving parts to that one. You’ve done a fab job! 💗🧵
Plenty of folks seemed to enjoy the show and made lots of purchases. Perhaps I just know too much about where I can get things better suited to my tastes. I think at Harrogate you will also have a better selection of vendors because travelling is so much easier and less expensive than crossing the Irish Sea. Harrogate is also a long established show. I hope it’s a good trip for you.
Me too! Got a horrible cold at the moment so hoping it’s long away by Friday!! 💗🧵
The advent calendar is gorgeous. I must look for one. Mind you I hope I finish it well within 18 years😜your work is really beautiful. 😊
Yes, my 18 year WIP was a bit excessive! 😉
You finished it at least. I had a few that never were finished. I meant to say also Charlotte is a delight. She is such a wee treasure. It was lovely to see her contribution. 💞
Lovely flosstube. Fantastic finish on the advent calendar. What an achievement. Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you so much Sarah.
Super to see Charlotte again, her laugh is so infectious. That was a lovely gift from your friend. I hope your cold goes really quickly and you feel better very soon. Happy Stitching ❤❤
Thank you Joy. Yes, we are much blessed by Laureen’s thoughtfulness,
Hi Sarah, Thank you for your lovely floss tube episodes. I find them inspiring and they brighten the day. I learnt to knit my socks from Winwick Mum’s patterns and book. I also think Kay Jones of The Bakery Bears tutorials and patterns are fabulous to learn from. Kay of The Crazy Sock Lady is great too. They are all on Ravelry and UA-cam and Instagram. The Lovenote sweater and the Ranunculus are meant to be good sweaters to knit on Ravelry. I think TinCanKnits have super patterns too. See you in December.🤗
Oh thank you so much for all the suggestion Cherry. That’s brilliant. I will share them with my friend.
How lovely to have a visit from Charlotte…her reading is developing nicely. I too am deeply disappointed that Instagram seems to be taking everything that works so well and undoing it. Thank heavens we can still do sals on flosstube. I hope your cold passes quickly and that it is the last virus of 2024. 🦉🧵🪡🎄
Thank you Karen. I’m really disappointed about the hashtags and don’t know how it’s going to work in reality. Yes, we can do our SALs through our flosstubes but it was so good to gather in the folks who don’t have channels too. It was all working so nicely until they started messing with it at the beginning of this year! It frustrates me so much!
Congrats on getting the advent finished! It looks great! Always love seeing Charlotte. I hope you are able to find some peaceful stitching time during this busy time of year. I'm looking forward to starting Strawberry Fields with you. Hoping to get the 2025 Haed Sal done first. Take care!
Good luck getting your Haed done. You must be really close now!
@@sewmesarah I reached 97% complete last night.
I can’t believe the year of 50 starts is winding down! It seems as though there have been a few other pieces popping in on the action. Such fun to watch. So glad Charlotte liked her little ornaments and treats. Now I am off to look up the Friends episode with Ross and a lollipop …😆
Thank you! Yes, we are getting to the end of our 50 and it’s been so great. Yes, I did slip in a few others like birthday gifts and SALs I was asked to participate in after my plans were already in place, but it’s all good 😊. If you haven’t found the Friends episode yet, search for Ross and maple candy 😝
