We all want to drive for success. I hope my weekly videos will help you do just that. Golf is a mainstay of my golf tips but I will branch out to other life-skills such as family topics, your health, your work pursuits and hobbies you may do. I talk about this more on the "Life Skills" page of my website www.DriveForSuccess.ca. The link is below or you can also cut and paste it into your browser. A golf putter in a box
This week (Sept. 2 to 4, 2024) is our Eaglequest ladies league game. It's about putting. The fewest number of putts wins. One of the draw prizes is the “putter in a box” as shown in the video. Let me know who the golfer is who is putting. Leave your answer in the comments section or email Rob. We will draw from the entries sent in on Wed. Sept. 4, 2024. Have fun! Rob Boyle

Nico Wynd Golf Course is fun
Переглядів 14214 днів тому
Nico Wynd is a super fun golf course in South Surrey, BC, Canada. Their website address is www.nicowyndgolfcourse.com/. I have a few gift certificates to play this fun course as draw prizes for the Eaglequest Ladies League. Good luck. By the way, ladies, this week’s game (week of Aug. 19, 2024) is a mulligan game where you get four do-overs. I produced a short video earlier this year to explain...
How long will it spin, Part 1
Переглядів 16121 день тому
How many seconds will my drainplug spin? Watch the video, then guess at how many seconds the drainplug will spin until it completely stops on its own. Put your answer in seconds (30 sec., 45 sec., 70 sec., 120 sec., etc.) Whatever you think actually. Here's a clue - don't under-estimate the power of the spin. The one who is the closest to the actual spinning number will win. If two or more folk...
Playing golf by yourself
Переглядів 142Місяць тому
I had a fun day playing by myself at The Hills at Portal Golf Club. Playing by yourself is a learning experience. You can hit the odd second shot too as long as you’re not holding up play behind you. The golf course is wonderful. I mean just look at the thumbnail. Wow. The address to this super golf course is 16900 4th Ave. Surrey, BC, Canada. Its website is thehillsatportal.com/. Enjoy! @robbo...

The 2024 CPKC Women’s Open is being played in Calgary, Alberta July 23-28. Watch the video to learn more. I also demonstrate a unique stretching drill involving a rope but it didn’t turn out very well. I literally got tied up in knots trying it. Thanks to Anica Yoo who is a PGA of Canada pro for helping me get untied. The link to last year’s CPKC event is at this link… ua-cam.com/video/mYiBT2Tk...
Learning about golf's divot
Переглядів 510Місяць тому
A divot is the piece of ground that sometimes flies past the golf ball after you take a swing - Ha! In today’s video lesson, I talk about the divot with a wedge, a five-iron and a wood. I did this video from the back of the driving range at Grandview Golf Course in Sun City, Arizona. Thanks Grandview Golf Course. You are a wonderful facility, and the staff are awesome! To those folks watching, ...
How To Use A Golf Impact Bag
Переглядів 4652 місяці тому
Impact is the moment of truth in the golf swing. Some teachers use an old tire to make the student stop at impact. It's a bit harsh on the hands and on the golf club so I ususally don't receommend a tire. A soft impact bag is best. The Dr. Gary Wiren impact bag for example is available at some golf stores or on Amazon. When you practice with it, monitor your positions at impact. The video expla...
Snake River Canyon golf ball driving attempt
Переглядів 2422 місяці тому
Long Drive: It was a lovely day at the Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls, Idaho. My attempt was to drive a ball over the Snake River Canyon. I had a following wind so I thought this improved my chances. I had worked out for years to build up my muscles for such an event. Watch the short video and you will see surprising results. 😊 Just a reminder, I produce a new video each week during the golf ...
The greatest golf chip shot in history
Переглядів 9 тис.2 місяці тому
In 2005, Tiger Woods hit one of the best golf shots of all time. This remarkable chip shot helped Tiger win his fourth Masters and ninth major of his career. Rob looks at Tiger’s shot and analyzes the two main fundamentals of what makes a great chip shot. It is a definite “teachable moment.” To see the full video of the senior PGA champion shown at the beginning of this video, click this link.....

The video footage was taken by me at the 2023 Canadian PGA Seniors Championship at Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. Al won the event too by the way! I feel you will get a lot out of this video. I also have links below which will also enhance your knowled...
Golf's Best Putting Drill

Golf’s Best Putting drill - Part 4: Today’s golf tip is about a drill I often teach golfers. I call it the Bernhard Langer putting drill. Bernhard Langer is a PGA player considered to be one of the best players for decades. He’s had a total of 46 PGA tour wins, 2 major championships and many seniors’ championship wins. He has a putting style that is unique and you should perhaps try it to impro...

Come on, greatest ever? No way. Yes he hit a great shot but not the greatest ever. He had the advantage of gravity with that ball feeding down the slope for one thing. He also would have been chipping against the grain with no wind to deal with. 1987 Larry Mize chip in on 11 in the playoff - fantastic shot , with a hazard behind. Much better than Tigers 1969 George Archer final round on 15 he hit second shot in the water. Got up and down. Hit one of the best shots from behind that water hazard bumping it into the slope you would ever see. Tiger had no hazard to deal with. He had an open faced lob wedge skidder to a higher elevation. Tell Tom Kite that Tigers chip shot was the greatest ever - obviously you have not seen his chip in during 92 U.S. Open final round at Pebble - DOWNWIND to extremely firm greens. Tiger Tiger Tiger. You know there are other golfers that have played the game, including a now deceased guy by the name of Seve who was a magician with a wedge.
Thank you @generalgrant3189. I was probably a little over enthusiastic about Tiger’s shot. You’re right, he had gravity on his side. The other golfers you mentioned had great shots too. And there were many more. I appreciate your insight.
waiting for my next toilet roll change!!! lol..... I'll let you know if I succeed. :)
With practice, I know you will succeed!
unbelievable! Love it! You are a natural, Rob :)
How many seconds will it spin? Enjoy this video and make your best guess to win 😜
I love Peace Portal (old name.) It's one of the best courses in the Lower Mainland 😃.
Thanks for your comment DB. I played it a lot when Wendell Arnold was the head pro. Rob Watson was an assistant there and he was super good as a player.
You got me Rob. Fun 😇
Thanks DB. Yeah, I gotcha :)
Here's one that's a bit like it. Write down a three-digit number, e.g., 123. Now repeat it to make a six-digit number, i.e., in this exampl,e 123,123. (I've added a comma as is standard, in the UK, for numbers of a thousand or more.) Why is a six-digit number formed in this way always divisble by each of 7, 11 and 13? (It's rhetorical: I do know the answer.) Perhaps you might invent a trick based on this numerical effect. Cheers :)
Thank you. I love this and I enjoy numbers.
fun fun fun lady league!
Thanks. I hope I got your number :)
Magical as always Rob.🎉
Thanks. Magic is fun !
Short and sweet tip
Glad you liked it
Luv this
thanks!!!
Great advice Rob. Thanks!
I appreicate that!
I'm gonna go to Boise ♥
I loved your videos from last year. Can't wait until next year!
Happy new year!
Love the ending Rob - Funnnnyyy :)
Thanks for the comment. Anica came in at the last minute to save me 🤣.
The ironic thing for me is to try to hit behind the ball and I get better contact. I have noticed over the years, when pros strike the ball it sounds like they hit them fat but it is because they hit the ball and ground almost at the same time but in a shallow circle. Most people try to "hit" the ball from the top and hack straight down at the ball. This produces fat shots and if somehow, they make contact, the ball doesn't travel very far. The clubhead must be coming into the ball at a shallow angle to catch the back of the ball. It's like kicking a soccer ball - do you kick straight down at the ball or from a level attitude?
Great question. In golf, each club has a different angle of approach. A wedge for example is much steeper than a five iron and a driver is extremely shallow. I would think kicking a soccer ball (or a football) would be shallow - like a golf driver.
