  • @srinivas5531

    I'm confused about this conversion. I have below doubts. In the first step you have selected 2 servers and installed ESXI servers on them, using that you have installed 12 VM's. 2) why are we converting remaining physical servers into VM on existing host using vCenter Converter? why don't we convert these physical servers into VM's by installing ESXi on each server as same as first step? 2nd point is so confusing for me. I hope you understand my doubt.

    Great Session!! I have a doubt. Assume that we have created 50 VM's by using Template and they are running on windows server 2019. Is there any way to upgrade them all at once to WIN server 2022? or else we need to Mount the WIN 2022 ISO File on each VM and upgrade 50 VM's one by one?

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 10 днів тому

      That's a great question! You can use a scripting approach or a centralized deployment tool to apply the upgrade to all 50 VMs simultaneously. Upgrading 50 VMware VMs from Windows Server 2019 to Windows Server 2022 can be approached in several ways depending on the tools and resources available. Let's consider the options: 1. Automated Upgrade Using Configuration Management Tools You don’t need to manually mount the ISO file and upgrade each VM one by one. Tools such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or PowerShell scripting can be used to automate the process. - SCCM: - SCCM can deploy a task sequence to upgrade all VMs. - It will handle mounting the ISO, initiating the upgrade, monitoring the progress, and completing the process without manual intervention. - PowerShell Scripts: - You can use PowerShell with VMware PowerCLI to automate the process across all VMs: 1. Mount the Windows Server 2022 ISO on all 50 VMs. 2. Trigger the upgrade process using `setup.exe` with automated parameters (e.g., `setup.exe /auto upgrade`). 3. Monitor the progress remotely. - Ansible or Similar Automation Tools: - If you have Ansible in your environment, it can be configured to perform the upgrade tasks in parallel. 2. Consider In-Place Upgrade Automation Windows Server 2019 allows for in-place upgrades to Windows Server 2022. The process involves upgrading the operating system while retaining applications, settings, and data. - Advantages: - No need to redeploy or migrate applications and data. - Minimizes downtime. - Steps: 1. Automate mounting the ISO file for all VMs (using PowerShell or VMware tools). 2. Run the upgrade command in silent mode (e.g., `setup.exe /quiet /noreboot`). 3. Reboot all VMs post-upgrade. 3. Fresh Deployment (If In-Place Upgrade is Not Feasible) If in-place upgrades are not suitable (e.g., due to application compatibility or OS corruption concerns), you can opt for a clean deployment: - Create a new Windows Server 2022 template. - Deploy new VMs from this template. - Use migration tools to move applications and data from the old VMs to the new ones. 4. Manual Process (Fallback Option) If automation tools are unavailable, you would need to manually mount the ISO and upgrade each VM. However, this approach is: - Time-consuming. - Error-prone for a large number of VMs. - Less efficient than automated solutions. Recommended Approach: For 50 VMs, the most efficient method is to use SCCM or PowerShell scripting to perform the in-place upgrade. These tools significantly reduce the effort and ensure consistent results across all VMs. If automation tools are unavailable, consider setting up a proof of concept for automated scripts to manage repetitive tasks like ISO mounting and upgrade initiation.

    I follow everything from this video, but my installation always failed during the boot.kube process.... And also, is the creating manifest and ignition-config is needed or not for OCP4.17? I really appreciate if you can solve my pain. Thank you...

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 14 днів тому

      Here are a few things to check that might help: 1. Logs from `bootkube`: The logs can provide more details about what’s causing the failure. Use `journalctl -u bootkube.service` to view them and identify specific errors. 2. Resource Requirements: Ensure that your master nodes meet the minimum requirements for OpenShift 4.17, as insufficient CPU or memory can cause the `bootkube` process to fail. 3. Network Configuration: Verify DNS and network configurations, especially if you’re using a custom setup. Network issues are a common cause of `bootkube` failures. 4. Manifests and Ignition Configs: For OCP 4.17, manifests and ignition files are automatically created by the OpenShift Installer. You usually don’t need to create them manually unless you’re performing an advanced or customized deployment.

    My server turns off anytime I start up an emulator to play game. The server is about 40 cores CPU and about 200gb rams and is an HP Proliant dl380 gen9 server. How can I resolve this or is there no resolution to it?

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 21 день тому

      Possible Causes and Resolutions 1. Power Supply or Overload Issue Cause: Starting the emulator might cause a sudden spike in CPU/GPU utilization, drawing more power than the system can handle. Solution: Check the server's power supply unit (PSU) to ensure it meets the power demands during peak loads. Verify if both PSUs are functional (if redundant). 2. Thermal Shutdown Cause: High CPU usage can lead to overheating, triggering an automatic shutdown to prevent hardware damage. Solution: Clean the server's fans and heat sinks for dust or debris. Monitor CPU temperatures using tools like iLO (Integrated Lights-Out) or HP System Management software. Ensure adequate cooling in the data center or room. 3. Hardware or Driver Incompatibility Cause: The emulator might be utilizing specific hardware features (like virtualization) that conflict with server configurations. Solution: Ensure BIOS/firmware is up to date. Check for driver updates for the CPU, GPU (if present), and other components. Disable unnecessary hardware acceleration or virtualization settings. 4. Resource Mismanagement or Overcommitment Cause: The emulator may be consuming more resources than allocated or expected. Solution: Use HP's diagnostic tools or server monitoring software to review resource allocation. If you're running the emulator within a virtual machine, adjust the VM’s resource limits. 5. Power Management Settings in BIOS Cause: Incorrect power or performance settings might cause instability under heavy load. Solution: Access the BIOS and: Set Power Management to “Maximum Performance.” Ensure C-states are optimized for high performance. 6. Software-Specific Issues Cause: The emulator itself may have compatibility issues with the server's architecture. Solution: Test the emulator on another machine to ensure it is functioning correctly. Look for emulator updates or configuration options that limit resource usage. Additional Tips Event Logs: Check the server logs (via iLO or the OS event viewer) for specific error messages during shutdown. Stress Testing: Use stress-testing tools to simulate high load and identify bottlenecks. By systematically troubleshooting using these steps, you should be able to narrow down and resolve the issue. If the problem persists despite these efforts, contacting HP Support for a deeper hardware diagnostic might be necessary.

    Thanks for the video. The command "worker0" failed with some errors shown below. Please help ERROR Bootstrap failed to complete: timed out waiting for the condition ERROR Failed to wait for bootstrapping to complete. This error usually happens when there is a problem with control plane hosts that prevents the control plane operators from creating the control plane.

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 24 дні тому

      It seems the OpenShift cluster bootstrap process has failed due to a timeout in the control plane setup. This typically indicates an issue with the control plane hosts or their configuration. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve the problem: 1. Check Bootstrap Node Logs - SSH into the bootstrap node and check the logs to identify the root cause of the issue: journalctl -b -f -u bootkube.service journalctl -b -f -u kubelet.service - Look for errors related to Kubernetes components such as `etcd`, `API server`, or `controller-manager`. 2. Validate Infrastructure - Ensure the control plane hosts (`master` nodes) meet the minimum requirements: - CPU, memory, and storage. - Proper network connectivity between bootstrap, control plane, and worker nodes. - Verify that DNS and load balancing are correctly configured: - Check that the `api.<cluster-domain>` and `*.apps.<cluster-domain>` records point to the correct IPs. - Confirm that the OpenShift installer can reach the control plane hosts. 3. Confirm Ignition Files - Ensure the ignition configuration files for the control plane nodes (`master`) are valid and accessible. - Inspect logs on the control plane nodes: journalctl -b -u ignition.service - Check for issues in the files generated by the installer in the `bootstrap` directory. 4. Verify etcd Cluster Health - The control plane depends on a healthy `etcd` cluster. Log in to the control plane nodes and check the etcd logs: journalctl -b -u etcd.service - Common issues include certificate mismatches or connectivity problems. 5. Networking Issues - Ensure that required ports are open between nodes: - Control Plane: Ports `6443` (API server), `2379-2380` (etcd). - Worker Nodes: Ports `10250`, `30000-32767` (kubelet, services). - Validate that the bootstrap node can communicate with the master nodes. 6. Gather Installer Logs - Inspect the `openshift-install` logs for detailed errors: openshift-install --dir=<installation-directory> wait-for bootstrap-complete --log-level=debug 7. Common Causes to Check - Disk Latency: Ensure the disks on control plane nodes aren't experiencing high latency. - Time Sync: Ensure all nodes (bootstrap, control plane, workers) have synchronized system clocks (NTP). - Load Balancer Issues: Verify that the load balancer is forwarding traffic correctly to the control plane nodes. Next Steps - Address any specific errors found in the logs and retry the bootstrap process: openshift-install --dir=<installation-directory> wait-for bootstrap-complete

    but here Machine Id will be the same, how do we create Linux vm from template with different machine ID

    • @santoshn516
      @santoshn516 25 днів тому

      I did customization but no luck to change different Machine ID

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 24 дні тому

      To create Linux VMs from a template with a different Machine ID (D-Bus Machine ID), the following steps are necessary. The customization process alone might not update the Machine ID as expected. Here’s how you can ensure that the new VM gets a unique Machine ID: 1. Understand Machine ID - The Machine ID is stored in `/etc/machine-id`. It is a unique identifier for the system and is critical for services like D-Bus. 2. Steps to Ensure Unique Machine ID #A. During Template Creation Before creating the template: 1. Run the following command to remove the Machine ID: sudo rm -f /etc/machine-id sudo rm -f /var/lib/dbus/machine-id 2. Recreate an empty file to ensure no ID is reused: sudo touch /etc/machine-id 3. Shut down the machine and create the template. #B. After Deploying from the Template Once the VM is deployed, generate a new Machine ID: 1. Log into the newly created VM. 2. Regenerate the Machine ID: sudo systemd-machine-id-setup This command generates a new Machine ID and writes it to `/etc/machine-id`. 3. Restart any services dependent on the Machine ID, such as D-Bus: sudo systemctl restart dbus 3. Automation with Customization Script If you’re using vSphere customization specifications, ensure a script is added in the post-customization phase to handle the Machine ID regeneration: Add a post-deployment script: #!/bin/bash rm -f /etc/machine-id /var/lib/dbus/machine-id systemd-machine-id-setup systemctl restart dbus Include the script in the customization workflow. 4. Verification After the customization or script execution, check the new Machine ID: cat /etc/machine-id 5. Common Issues to Watch - Ensure no duplicate VMs are running with the same Machine ID, as it can cause conflicts in services like D-Bus or clustering. - If using cloud-init for customization, confirm it is configured to handle Machine ID regeneration.

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 24 дні тому

      It seems you're encountering an issue with live storage migration in vSphere 8. The error message *"This action cannot be available for any of the selected items at this time"* typically indicates that one or more prerequisites for the operation are not met. Here are a few steps you can check to troubleshoot: 1. Check VM Compatibility: - Ensure the VM hardware version is compatible with vSphere 8 and supports live storage migration. 2. Verify Host and Datastore State: - Confirm that the hosts and datastores involved are operational and accessible. - The target datastore should have sufficient free space. 3. Confirm VM Settings: - Ensure that the VM is powered on and does not have any snapshots or active tasks blocking the migration. - Check for active ISO images or devices connected to the VM that might prevent migration.

    Does this process is applicable for internal Vcenter with VxRail ? or only for external Vcenter.

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 25 днів тому

      Hi, Thank you for your question! The upgrade process shown in this video applies to both internal vCenter integrated with VxRail and external standalone vCenter Servers, with some considerations: For VxRail-integrated vCenter, you should always follow the VxRail upgrade path and guidelines provided by Dell, as the vCenter upgrade is part of the VxRail bundle. Make sure to check the Dell EMC VxRail Release Notes for compatibility. For external vCenter, you can directly follow the steps outlined in the video, ensuring prerequisites are met

      Hi Sir , Thank you for watching and for your kind words! 😊 I'd be happy to help with the install-config.yaml. This file is critical for defining the OpenShift cluster's configuration, like platform type, base domain, networking, and control plane details. If you're seeing all the prerequisites updated but are confused about specific sections, here are some key pointers: Platform Configuration: Ensure the platform section matches your infrastructure, like AWS, VMware, or bare metal. Networking: Double-check CIDR ranges for clusterNetwork and serviceNetwork to avoid conflicts. Control Plane and Compute Nodes: Verify the count, instance types, or sizes match your desired setup. Alternatively, you can refer to the official OpenShift documentation for examples tailored to different platforms.

      Hi there, Thank you for your comment! Installing and configuring the Tesla P4 GPU to work with the Nox emulator within multiple VMs on ESXi 7.0 is an interesting setup. While I can't provide direct support through Telegram or other platforms, I’d be happy to guide you here or in future tutorials. To get started, ensure: The Tesla P4 is correctly installed and recognized by ESXi. NVIDIA GRID or vGPU drivers are installed and configured on the ESXi host. Each VM is assigned a vGPU profile compatible with the Tesla P4 for optimal performance. The Nox emulator is GPU-aware and set to utilize the assigned vGPU.

    Como puedo evitar que use ipv6 ? No puedo modificar la red, hay alguna configuración para que tome ipv4?

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 26 днів тому

      Hello! Thank you for your question. To prevent your system from using IPv6 and force it to use IPv4 without modifying the network, you can try the following: 1. Set IPv4 as the priority in your operating system: - On Windows, go to your network adapter properties and disable IPv6. - On Linux, edit the network configuration file (e.g., `/etc/sysctl.conf`) to disable IPv6 by adding the following lines: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 Then, restart your network or system. 2. Specify IPv4 directly in configurations: If you are configuring applications or services, make sure to use IPv4 addresses explicitly instead of domain names that might resolve to IPv6. 3. Modify application or service settings: Some applications allow you to prioritize IPv4 over IPv6 in their internal settings.

    how to find network Vlan ID

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 26 днів тому

      To find the VLAN ID associated with your network in ESXi or vCenter, follow these steps: Using ESXi Host Client: 1. Login to the ESXi Host: - Open a browser and access the ESXi host using its IP or hostname. - Use your credentials to log in. 2. Navigate to Networking: - Click on Networking in the left-hand menu. 3. Check the Port Groups: - Under the Port Groups tab, you will see a list of configured port groups. - Locate the port group you are interested in and check the VLAN ID column. Using vCenter: 1. Login to vCenter: - Open the vSphere Client and log in to your vCenter server. 2. Locate the Host or Cluster: - Navigate to Hosts and Clusters. 3. Go to Networking: - Select the host or cluster you want to investigate. - Click on the Configure tab, then go to Networking > Virtual switches. 4. Identify VLAN Settings: - Select a Distributed Port Group or Standard Port Group (depending on your setup). - Check the VLAN settings under the VLAN column or in the Edit Settings section. Command-Line Option (ESXi Shell): 1. Enable SSH or Access the ESXi Shell: - Go to the Host > Configure > Services section and start the SSH or ESXi Shell service. 2. Run the Command: - Use the following command to check the VLAN ID for a specific virtual switch: esxcli network vswitch standard portgroup list - This will display all port groups and their VLAN IDs. Best Practices: - Always ensure you are viewing the correct port group or distributed switch associated with the specific VM or network. - Document VLAN IDs for easier management in large environments.

    can this multiple session work with windows 10?

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 26 днів тому

      Yes, multiple remote sessions can work on Windows 10, but there are some limitations and configurations needed. Here’s a breakdown of the options: 1. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) By default, Windows 10 only allows one remote desktop session at a time for a single user. However, you can configure it for multiple remote sessions by modifying certain settings or using third-party tools. - Limitations: Windows 10 Pro only allows one active RDP session (the user is logged off when another session is initiated). - Workaround: - You can use RDP Patcher (a third-party tool) or Windows Server solutions to enable multiple concurrent sessions, though these may violate Microsoft's licensing terms, so it's important to consider legal implications. - Windows Server editions (such as Windows Server 2016/2019) are designed to allow multiple RDP sessions natively. 2. Using Third-Party Remote Access Tools Several third-party remote desktop tools support multiple simultaneous connections on a Windows 10 machine: - AnyDesk - TeamViewer - Chrome Remote Desktop - VNC Connect These tools allow more flexible remote sessions, and you don’t need to worry about modifying system files like with RDP. They allow multiple users to access a machine simultaneously with proper session management. 3. Using Windows 10 with Multiple User Profiles If you want to have different users remotely accessing your Windows 10 machine but not simultaneously (i.e., each user accesses their own desktop), you can set up multiple user profiles on the same system. Then, remote users can log in as different users and switch between them, though you’ll still be limited to a single session at a time in RDP. 4. Using PowerShell or Third-Party Software for Remote Desktop Management - RDP Session Management: By using tools like Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) or PowerShell scripts, you can manage connections and users more efficiently, but you still need a solution like Windows Server or third-party software to fully enable multiple concurrent remote sessions. For multiple remote desktop sessions on Windows 10, you're typically limited unless you use third-party solutions (e.g., AnyDesk, TeamViewer) or alter system configurations (which may breach licensing terms for RDP). For a legitimate and fully supported solution, you may want to consider using Windows Server editions for Remote Desktop Services (RDS).

    Nice tutorial! Do you have any recommended GPU for the purpose? On the DL360 G9 there is a PCI-e slot on the back left side from the front. I assume it needs a riser, too, right?

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 26 днів тому

      Thank you for watching! 😊 Yes, for a DL360 G9, you'll likely need a GPU that fits your workload needs. For AI/ML purposes, NVIDIA GPUs like the RTX 3060/3070 or even a Quadro series can be a good fit, provided the power and thermal limitations are within the server's capacity. You're correct about the PCI-e slot-it typically requires a riser card to install a GPU. Make sure to check your server’s documentation for compatible risers and ensure the GPU fits the physical and power constraints of the DL360 G9 chassis.

    This all step is done 👍 after this C drive .ovf how to help in the installation ? Because iso mount on other location... So please tell me next step how to install ? Install with vcsa ? Or vcsa ui ? And where to paste this content file ?

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage 26 днів тому

      Thank you for your question! It seems like you're asking about the next steps after deploying the `.ovf` file for the installation. Here's what you can do: 1. Deploying the VCSA (vCenter Server Appliance): - Once the `.ovf` deployment is done, ensure you have the ISO file for the VCSA installation. Mount the ISO file to your system (you can do this on your local machine or any system where you're performing the installation). - Inside the ISO file, you'll find an installer folder with options to launch the installation through a UI (Graphical Interface) or CLI. Use the method that you're comfortable with: - VCSA UI Installer (Recommended): Run the `installer.exe` (Windows) or `installer` (Linux/Mac) and follow the guided steps to install VCSA. - CLI Method: If you prefer automation or scripting, use the JSON templates provided in the ISO file. 2. Using the `.OVF` Content: - If you deployed an OVF for a specific purpose (e.g., preconfigured settings or templates), ensure the VM is powered on and accessible through your vSphere or ESXi environment. - Verify the network configuration, DNS, and IP settings to ensure smooth installation of the VCSA or its integration. 3. Where to Place Files: - The `.ovf` and related VM files are already stored on the datastore you selected during deployment. - For the VCSA ISO file, you don’t need to "paste" it anywhere-it can remain mounted on your local machine. The installation wizard will handle everything.

    Hi Sir, Please correct me if my understanding is wrong. Is SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications a bundle of SUSE OS and KVM. Right? Thanks

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage Місяць тому

      Hi Sir, Thank you for your question! You’re partly correct. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) for SAP Applications is a specialized version of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server tailored for SAP workloads. It includes optimizations for performance, reliability, and high availability. While SLES for SAP Applications supports KVM as a hypervisor for virtualization, it is not strictly a "bundle" of SUSE OS and KVM. Rather, it’s an enhanced operating system designed specifically to meet the needs of SAP environments, which can run on KVM or other supported virtualization platforms.

    • @gnancloudgarage
      @gnancloudgarage Місяць тому

      Hi Sir, Thank you for sharing your insights and experience! You bring up an important point about the power supply unit (PSU) and chassis considerations when configuring servers for GPUs. While the HPE DL380/385 Gen10 Plus servers are officially listed in the NVIDIA GPU Qualified System Catalog for certain GPU models, you're absolutely right that power and chassis size can be limiting factors, especially when dealing with high-power GPUs like the A100 80 GB. A larger chassis, like a 3U or 4U server, can indeed provide better airflow, additional power connectors, and overall capacity for GPUs, making it a more suitable option in many cases. Your recommendation aligns with best practices for high-performance workloads that rely heavily on GPUs. Thanks again for contributing to the discussion and helping the community make more informed choices. Your expertise is much appreciated!
