I think that the people of Tuliyollal are directly descended from the people of Solution 9. I don't think it's a coincidence that some of the logograms we see in the sci-fi-looking race look similar to what we see in the carvings in Tuliyollal's architecture. I think that's the significance of the 'golden city' in the leadership trial that the contestants are doing. I think everyone who becomes leader learns of the full truth of their peoples' ancestry. That's also probably why one location is called "Heritage Found"; because it's literally some excavation or something where they uncovered all this tech from the Solution 9 people.

What I want as a recent import from WoW to FFXIV, I want the raid to have something to do with the story. Raids in WoW were the pinnacles of the story, where the big baddie needed to be beat. I was kind of bummed playing endwalker to find that Pandaemonium was essentially a side story, a good side story but still on the side. I want the raid to matter to the story. WoW had a raid finder mode for casual players so everyone could enjoy the story of the raid.

Ah speculation.... my speculation is always very very wrong lol. I guess EW I somewhat got things correct, but not in the way I imagined.... that being said.... I think this is what we will be getting in the New World.. First off, I don't think anything major will really happen until we go north into Xak Tural. I think the first half in Yak Tural will be setting the stage.... explaining characters.... ect.... and then things will drastically shift. From the trailer, I think Solution Nine or whoever is attacking Tulyo will come in after we the Rite of Leadership. Which is why we will go north. As we go in, we will start to encounter the people of the north, which will be drastically different. We start learning more about them. possibly running into new character we team up with, eventually leading us to Solution Nine and why these people are possibly not ageing ect. Which I then think will link back to the Fountain of Youth, which will cause us to go east to find the Fountain of Youth. Or they are AI or the girl we run into is a Super Computer AI who is running the city and it will lead us to either another Shard or Planet as the last zone, or we will got into Cyber Space world. And I think we will find out the woman is related to Metione and is actually either an echo, copy or a descendent of one of the Metione Sisters.

I hope the next new baddie will be more fleshed out and less incompetent. Maybe the "inhabitants of Solution Nine" are them, since they butcher civilians on screen, I mean, Garleans were cool, but, Stormblood make them look so Disney levels of Incompetent and it was just spiked up in the later content one couldn't take them seriously as a threat ... I m kinda thinking that with the City, we might have access just to part of it, being in like a "safe zone" while the rest is under occupation of that military, or, well, there are multiple places and Solution Nine is just one of them, like, in some of the scenes and screens we see fully armed military bases so yeh this might be just one part of a wider area, like Dravania was. Dont wanna go onto the thing that they are just "robots" with "souls" etc. or some AI, no, just no, dont want that, I had enough Nier for a lifetime

I think it's very possible that we encounter one or more of the remaining ascians. With their rejoining missions done, they're going to be a part of the world in one way or another. Hopefully they'll be more helpful than adversarial, it feels like that would have a lot of great possibilities going forward. I'm going out on a limb that Solution 9 is, like you said, a remnant of another shard that found out a way to cross the rift and ride out a rejoining. My prediction is that the population realized that they couldn't cross the rift with their bodies intact (or because of the huge number of survivors) they have effectively digitized their population and placed them into a "matrix" of sorts inside of a giant artificial aetherial sea. Emet-Selch did specifically pluralize "golden cities" so maybe solution 8 tried to come over without storing their souls and just the city made the trip? I'm also holding a thread of hope that a jaunt to Meracydia could be a late expansion surprise though they always hold back the craziest zones annd if they showed us S9, things are going to get weird. All I know is, the first thing I am doing on release is watching a ton of cutscenes from previous content with the new graphics. If they upgraded him, Zenos should look interesting.

For those unaware, there's a loporrit crafting quest where you make him rope specifically to tie up one of his friends for unnamed purposes, and a FATE on the moon called "What a Thrill" where you find him slime for other nefarious reasons.

I think you're on the right track. I don't think these are directly related to ancients though I think it's entirely possible that there is a former ascian involved. Likely now that Emet Selch has stopped answering his voicemails, they're just moving forward. Maybe they were tasked with saving some portion of the civilization from the rejoined shard and they're just acting in an administrative role. I don't know that the second calamity lines up just based on the time involved. The time to develop the tech that they have and the plausibility of them remaining hidden for ten thousand years from the rest of the world.

I bet Solution 9 is in a similar circumstance to the Crystal Tower. A highly advanced construct made by an ancient civilization that was burried underground for thousands of years and suddenly reawoken through calamity or final days. The name of the zone Heratige Found, which has the lightning clouds and metal structures, implies Tural knew something like S9 existed, bit have only recently rediscovered it.

Something I wonder about is whether the split between the Scions is ideological at all. We're backing Wuk'lamat, who's clearly a little bit of a bright-eyed idealist - very much a candidate for the WoL and the twins. There's a line in the release trailer that feels to me like it must be from a candidate about how only progress and innovation can move us forward, which seems very much in line with the beliefs of the more scientifically oriented Scions - I could 100% see Y'shtola and maybe G'raha putting their weight behind a candidate like that. We know Thancred and Urianger are working together, and they both share a sort of slightly ruthless practicality - Thancred with his rogueish/spying ways, and Urianger with his machiavellian schemes - so they might back a candidate who's more of a capable and shrewd politician, reasoning they'd be more able to get stuff done. I don't think for a second it'd ever actually split the Scions apart, but it would be interesting to see them dealing with actual disagreements in their values for once, even if it's in the form of friendly competition.

While I disagree on some of the details this is remarkably close to what I'm imagining. The most compelling point towards these being people from another shard is actually not from Dawntrail promo stuff at all, but from 6.X - namely how often we're reminded Y'shtola wants to create intershard travel. I have a strong suspicion we're gearing up for a "reflections saga", with the 10-year arc that Dawntrail is the setup for being dealing with the shards being connected and the conflict that that leads to, and Solution 9 will be the way we open up inter shard travel. The people of Solution 9 could be a great first taste of that conflict, maybe serving as a tense first contact with a shard we'll eventually go to on a diplomatic mission in a future expansion. The obvious and boring thing would be to have the inhabitants of the Solution 9 shard act as Garlean Empire 2.0, and have us fighting them as a recurring threat just like the Garleans, maybe hopping from shard to shard as they try to conquer multiple worlds, but I have faith in the writing team to have something less repetitive of the arc we just got done with in mind - maybe after an initial scuffle with Solution 9 eventually has us mend relations, and then the Source has to act as a middle ground and meeting spot for all the different shards, with the Scions helping mediate conflicts between generally well-meaning parties. I'm almost certainly very far off, but I find it fun to speculate like this and then be proven wrong. And if my long shot guess miraculously isn't wrong I get to pretend to be a genius!

"Across the pond" is a fairly common phrase Brits use to refer to the Americas (with the "pond" meaning the Atlantic Ocean). Is this not common knowledge? With Eorzea being commonly treated culturally like it's the Europe of Etheirys, I'd always assumed that phrase was referring to the New World, or some Ancient Etheirys equivalent. Anyways, my bet is still aliens. Some other *world*, as opposed to some other shard, taking refuge on our world. We've already been exposed to aliens through our time in Ultima Thule and the EW Manderville quests.

My theory: Given the Lalafels wearing Black Mage boots before entering the portal, and the airship that looks a LOT like The Void Ark - Solution 9 is Mhachi in origin.

First time hearing the Twelfth theory, and there are many things not mentioned that can support this. Suppose those living in Solution 9 were uneffected by the Rejoining but were still brought over in their protective bubble, but still when one dies where do their souls return to? Makes sense why such a facility would exist within.

THIS is exactly what I think! Solution 9 reminds me of Zanarkand, the last hope for a dying civilization! I think something we do wakes them from Stasis & they attack anyone they think is a threat to them! The Maiden reminds me of Yuna!

Wow, what was the context for that amaroutine "across the pond" dialogue? I have no recollection at all 😅 This all sounds very plausible to me! I love the idea of refugees from another shard with super-advanced technology, just biding their time and hiding on ours; witnessing the rise and fall of civilizations and to whom even the Allagans' technology is unimpressive.
