    Does my 350-page novel count as a low-content book on kdp. I wanted to schedule a release for it but kdp won't let me since it's a low-content book. I was honestly gonna try and cheat the system and set my book as a large print that way I could set a release date. What should I do?

    My elves... They have a reproductive system of being obligate queuers, with a seperate male and female hierchy. They have a longer gestational period, and they only hit puberty at 20, and their narrow frames on a humanoid bodyplan do severely limit their ability to produce offspring. They have a fertility rate of around 5.9 to 6.1 children per women, but only one in four women would reproduce, because of them being obligate queuers, and the young being so altricial, and the birthing process so heavy on the mother that many would be too busy caring for nieces and nephews upon becoming fertile, that they might not choose to have their own off-spring. Bi-racial elves, have a unique way is that their colorations, to humans, there pigmentations look like the one of a generic white person, but to elves, having this combination would make them unusual. Also, those who are drow with dinurnal elves are typically predisposed to being late birds, nocturnal or diurnal, and tend to have very messy circadian rythms, or rather lack them entirely.

    Wow, there is that big number again… 250,000 lol trying to give me nightmares? Great video. My process is after I carefully edit it, I hand it off to my editor who then hands it back to me all in red and I cry myself to sleep for a few weeks questioning if I should just give up. Then I keep going cause she is expensive, and I need to make my money back somehow. Then she proof edits and I cry myself to sleep some more. I then proof edit it twice. So my process is a lot of self questioning and tears lol.

    Cover art is the eye candy for the reader. I always hate it when I see a cover art that has nothing to do with the story. Like a happy cover with two people riding off into the sun but the book is a tragedy genre and no one is riding off happy into the sun. Or see swashbucklers swinging on a ship but there are zero boats in the story. You have good talent with cover designs. Cause mine is dark fantasy, I went with the have a villain on each cover approach.

I’m as high in “openness” and also IQ as it is possible to be basically 😂 and I think that’s why. These AI’s are made from and aimed at the middle of the bell curve. For traditional publishing they also have a chart for word count by age groups. When I was flopping back and forth between indi or not I asked around and one of them gave me a few graphic carts based on their companies word count expatiations. I use them when I teach my students.

    • @c.c.milton

      In the book world l, word count is the thing that rules us all. You can change page count based on how you format it. Also, it depends on your target audience age range. If you write a book for a 3rd grader, it should be shorter and easier to read than for a high schooler or a college age reader.

    As a pantser with a very over active imagination, I find a medium world building with a sprinkle of deep mixed in for the start to be the easiest of the two. It makes sure you won’t info dump, but yet let readers think there is more than you wrote. Then in book 3 I take it deep, as the past catches up with the present. But I was fully aware I was writing a series, so I had to think hard on the best way to world build in 5 books. Always annoys me when the author goes big at the start, cause then it seems bland and nothing new to explore later on. One book I read a while ago, author told the entire history in like the first 3 chapters. So when the characters found a smash ancient statue you already knew why. He didn’t trust the reader with their imagination. It is always annoying when the author does not trust the reader. Anyways great vid. I think it is one of your bests.

    • @SydneyFaithAuthor
      @SydneyFaithAuthor 3 місяці тому

      Sounds like that approach can give good balance to the writing process. Too much upfront info can totally spoil the pacing on a plot twist! Especially in fantasy, when readers often try to predict upcoming twists. Thanks!

    • @c.c.milton
      @c.c.milton 3 місяці тому

      @@SydneyFaithAuthor lol thanks. For me, half of the fun of writing is being surprised. It’s why I am a controlled pantser… cause I am not as insane as a pure pantser. At the time, all UA-cam vids only gave advice to plotters. Soo, had to find that marry middle ground. When I went to school they use to tell us greek stories, so I burrowed a similar concept. I always have to look at things as a educator. To help my students, whom half also had a similar issue. I taught creative writing after school at the middle school I work at. Hope you don’t mind, but I used some of your vids in the class. Cause you do not cuss during your explanation vids. Didn’t teach it this year, cause I might get laid off.

      Soft worldbuilding allows more room for character-driven stories, so I'd guess a story with softer worldbuilding sounds helpful in that regard 👍

    I personally like to write fantasy so its Hard-world building for me, never knew about these terms tho. For my ongoing story, It took over a month to fully design my world, still modifying it with plot to leave no plot holes. Question for you- how do I know my world building is good, what questions can I ask to my world?

      Very cool! I think the best worldbuilding supports the story you want to tell, so that's what I personally look for when assessing both my writing, and my favorite books.

      I always tell my students to trust the reader. Most of the world building is the unspoken words that their imagination fills in.

    Im writing a scifi horror, but before disaster strikes I want to write about peaceful times, but I find that part the hardest.

    If anyone wants an example of S tier world building in high fantasy, check out Cradle. Will Wight is a wizard at pacing you through a gradually widening world. Or you could just not be a coward and do 12 pages of lore dumping with 0 external stimuli besides the mc acknowledging a singularly fat beetle trundling by.

      😂 haven't gotten around to Wight's work yet, but it's on my list.

    My favorite way to use chatgpt for my novels is to catch when I might accidentally slip up in my perspectives. I write most of my novels in third person limited. But I have two books I am writing in third person limited omniscient. I can take my chapter input the whole thing and ask it to tell me which perspective the chapter is written in. It will tell me it has a heavy third person limited narrative with some omniscient perspective, or ti will tell me this is a third person limited perspective. This is third person limited omniscient. This si thrid person limited omniscient with no thought from other characters shared outside the main characters. It tells me all of that. It's really fantastic for catching these small slips, to keep the pacing and perspective right.
