Top 5 Things I Wish I Knew When Learning to Surf!
Just keeping it real gringo. You just got me to subscribe with this breakdown. Plus we think you rip and you just say what's on the mind. Nice work young man, keep charging.
So awesome seeing the surf footage review and explanation, would love to see more! You explained a lot of these turns better than I’ve heard anywhere else
Who's the goofy in the white suit (not Jett)?
can you do a videon on surfboards for begginers wanting to learn to surf. cuz im trying to learn how to surf and was wondering if its the same thing as skating cuz i skate.
Yeah that’s a good idea! skating is similar in some ways for sure
A guy who really buries the rail is Reynolds
Dane’s grab rail carves are so aggressive looking, it’s freakin mental every time he does it.
As a side note, Victor's technique is so good! His weight transfer is so subtle and smooth that you have to slow mo or pause to see it. The break down was sick! I'm gonna implement that in my surfing and see what shakes out. Keep it up Kolty!
It’s so wild to see people in fullsuits still when it’s warm enough to trunk it. I definitely learned something today tho, I’m gonna start putting more rail on my turns and see how it goes
🤙
Really helpful thanks legend
I grew up surfing creek in the 90s. Straight creek rat ..and that little secret not so secret spot anymore 😂. anyway seen your content know the area you are in by the background used to be a creek rat.keep it up buddy
Victor shredding as well thanks for the content !
As a surfer who is trying to switch to bigger shortboard from a midlenght, I found it hard to catch a wave with a 6”6 because of the crowd and gave up. As shorther the board is, you have to sit closer to the peak where it is extremely crowded. I think these days crowd is the biggest factor everyone should consider
The crowds are hectic everywhere these days. Best bet for learning is finding a time when there aren’t many people
That s super crowded for that spot
Its the part of your brain that likes exciting things. Like when you have shrapnel in your head but they call it a shralp story.
What the hell is a ‘Shralp’?
What is considered mid-length? I've been learning on a 7'6" 55L mini-mal after ditching the 8' Costco special and it seems to do fine.
That size of board is technically a middle length board. The type of board we are referring to in the video is a single fin hull where the bottom is rounded summer to the hull of a boat.
This is from last winter.
Yeah I was going to say, I haven’t seen any swells close to that during this summer
Newport?
Donde?
Shralping 🎉
Firing
Good tips thanks
We were the locals in the 60's. I lost 2 boards to the US Marines over the years. I looked up to Phil and Mickey and so many others. Cool vid. It takes all kinds! Aloha...
The times have changed haven’t they
Secret spot!
Damn that wave looks insanely fun
I know that spot it's clearly in south San Diego..
Sick Shralp. I love that spot.
You’re the man. These videos are great!
I wonder what its like being over 50 and still being called Timmy. In other news, that wave looks really fun. In my corner of Florida we'd call that epic!
It's cultural. Our family has a lot of Irish and even my uncles are Jimmy, Danny and of course Patty. Just surf and have fun whatever your name is.
Cole carp is a hammer
Oh you mean tank evans??
🔥 🎉1st🎉🔥
Campbell Brothers Bonzers are the Past & Future…
Trestles is so awesome now. All you need is an e-bike and a wavestorm board from Costco and you fully deserve to paddle straight to the point. 🖕🏼
So glad you mentioned the difficult egg boards beginners step down onto, I’ve always suspected this and glad you had the same idea 💡
Great practical info for surfers thanks for sharing the stoke !
Thank you for explaining the tech
Why ear plugs ?
Water and wind can lead to a calcium build up in your ear called surfers ear. It can be painful, make your ears more prone to infection, and eventually cause problems with hearing.
A willingness to drop in on people.... says a lot about a person.
simple mathematics... non locals get stuffed! and on a serious note i'm sure that guy had been paddling for a ton of waves but missing or subconsciously backpaddling / not following rotation
lol why I love surfing but hate surfers
3:34 I feel like there might be a back story to this
that's "the key to having more fun at Lowers"

What are the the dims of that board?

w content, love watching ur vids keep it up 👍
i hope there is cuz that was uncool
Shralping on the stub is kinda sick actually
Great waves! Great rides! Yewwww
Stylie Stylie ...Nice rides .
Bonzers are so addictive theyll take you anywhere
nice rides
Smaller waves..big fins. Larger waves..smaller fins. Anyway twinzer fins are the way to go. The tiny canard fins at the front of the larger rear fins help with control. The best of both a twin and thruster is a twinzer. Try one and thank me later as your likely won’t go back.
I get shacked on my fishy!
Shrimp stories
I would say MR's Freeride twin (the first real performance twin, not counting Clyde Beatty's Rocket Fish, which was really still a fish) did pretty good in North Shore barrels. I've watched that famous video of Mark and Shaun sharing a barrel many times over. Bertleman's Pepsi wave twin did pretty good too.
