Friday 7th June saw the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships hold a demonstration morning for the 'Pebble' at Freshwater NP, Deception Bay. This was an opportunity for both Parks and QFleet to get hands on with the electric high flow pump, squirt some water and speak to the engineer. A huge thanks to QFleet for the platform, AIS for displaying the prototype electric pump and of ...

RFBAQ Toyota LandCruiser Light Attack Prototype - UPDATE
I want one
Good truck. I would be happy to use it. I hope the innovation continues to move throughout all services.
Okay so heavier than a gx390 with an up to 50kg(ridiculously heavy) pump If you are talking about saving weight.
Looks real nice Guys !
Nice rig.
I think the use of an automatic transmission is a bad idea for standard fitment as they require extra cooling that may not be available because of a fire present a couple of metres away. Bad enough that we once had a electrically controlled transfer case go all neutrals and the truck get caught in a burn over.
Yes. Those AWD auto transmissions are a real problem. The transfer box for 4wd only have about 1.5 litres and 3 have failed here in nsw RFS at a cost of $70000 each.
How much Ballpark? Very nice piece of kit.
U Need a winch to move stuff
This is a great truck. They might consider developing a dedicated tanker to follow each truck through the bush.
Have a look at the cfa ultra heavy.
$350 thousand to build and they sell them 10 years later for $40 thousand 😂 NICE 👍
The United States should be using some of these features but continue to endanger workers by not providing for our safety.
RFS needs to implement the new UHP systems. Turns your 500 gal into a 1500 gal.
Honestly I don't find them useful in forest fires especially because of the hose you can carry and because if the fire front is a little more intense you can't get close and extinguish fire. Ultra high pressure is not that good for forest fires, is also not too safe in case you accidentally point it to someone or to you and it can happen. The best to have is CAFS and in my personal opinion a combined pressure pump. it saves fuel on the truck and is the best of both worlds. I Have been fighting fires since 87 and I have built a few interesting special forest fire trucks that work and they are powerful not like this unit.
For years, I have been pretty critical over the crapiness of appliances here in QLD but I must say, this truck has finally hit a point of being much better designed. The only thing leaving me lacking is the choice of small GAAM 125 and motor. The idea of a town truck and a bush truck helps with options for brigades. The biggest hurdle is many brigades are told what they are going to get without options, I have sat there in so many meetings where AD's and the RM flat-out refused anything but bloody Danger Rangers.
Wow pretty much fit for purpose when do we get one.
the last 7 firefighters who died in bush fires in Australia died from falling objects. Where is the Falling Object Protection System that will prevent the cab from being crushed? Bear in mind FOPS on fire trucks has been available in Australia since 2005.
That's more to do with expierience of the operator
FOPs isn't needed also means less water....
how many of the 7 have been in vehicles vs on foot?
As mentioned, those deaths have little to do with the need for FOPS. Without kicking off a huge, insenitive argument, FMS training used to include identifying dangerous trees as well as stay away from large trees either burnt, on fire of heat stressed. Training over the years has gone to the dogs and many brigades suffer from poor training and support.
Seen the findings No preventative measures known in modern fire fighting truck's could have saved them sadly(30 to 40 tones can't be stopped), but we should always try to make as strong as possible trucks, but then we must carry less water 💧 when im fighting fire i want lots of water and a safe and slow driver
Great looking truck... well done Queensland! Similar to CFA's heavy tankers which are also great trucks to use.
Would have said CFS more then CFA
Neither the CFA or CFS used such a pitifully small pump.
Looks like a great step forward if it’s affordable eventually, and available as a slip-on unit.
i can really see alot of optimization with this as you can take a trailer on the back with basically water tanks depending how big the trailer is so thats basically doubling your water supply with this concept
I like what they've done with the pump system - the pressure, the flow, the control panel and remote, self-priming drafting, operational time, water quantity - good build. And, apart from having to set up the wiring to the base vehicle, they have a slip-on module. Very nice execution for a Proof-of-concept.
Wonder how overweight these vehicles are like most of the others 😂
These pumps and battery set up are lighter than the currently fitted diesel/petrol powered units as Justin mentioned in the video clip.
@@stevewhitehouse4051 A gx390 only weighs 31.7kg dry the pump itself would have to be 60-80kg to be saving weight.
Hi Guys awesome set up...we need something like this as a smoke chaser in NZ
Awesome work, looking forward to the rural heavy attack video!
I know!
Can someone tell me something,I watched the fire at tawoomba burn for days before it got out of control while there was only 40 trucks or so active when I have seen up to 100 trucks active at other times, wouldn't it make more sense to have more of them active all the time? I know this isn't a volunteer issue because there's enough full time fire employees to get more vehicles active and location can't be an issue with this because trucks have wheels, why why aren't more trucks active and only a couple more are out there than how many fires there are almost all of the time, please have more trucks active it doesn't make sense people are dying and loosing their homes
Might be worth checking the numbers on the vehicle type slide, the stat says only 10 water tankers are in the RFS, North Coast Region alone has 7 tankers, not to mention the 20 something others around the state
Thanks for your question! The figures were supplied to us by the Rural Fire Service Queensland. It is brigade vehicles only - excludes Group, Area, Region and State held vehicles. We have emailed RFSQ to ask why.
How often do you recommend, rural fire fighters to become familiar with this vehicle ?
This vehicle has since been donated to a brigade. Follow our latest build, the FusionCruiser, here facebook.com/lc.la.prototype
What roles are women allowed to do in the Rural Fire Brigades in Qld and how often to they have meetings?
Hi Michelle! Gender is not an issue. You can find all the info you are chasing on the QFES website here www.qfes.qld.gov.au/careers-and-volunteering/volunteering/rural-fire-service
@@rfbaq what about being indigenous or a victim of crime?

Please contact your local RFSQ Area Office
The fact that QFES said no originally is disgusting. These guys save lives and in doing so you may run into trouble too. This equipment would save your life. Come on QFES, think safety. These volunteers are extremely important too.
Ty UA-cam recommended now I feel fully informed Ty
Nice
Can you send me a photo of what the slip on units look like and the trailers, as I have not seen them before
its crazy to me that crew protection sprays aren't already a standard on all tankers as they are in other states
As they say "Please be quiet and take my taxpayer grant money" - yeah, I want one. Good job, RFBAQ, great unit.
Where can you buy those Fire Fighter warning signs from?
These are available to brigades from RFSQ. Please contact you local Area Office.
@@rfbaq thanks I will get into RFS_WesternRivers office
What is the total cost for this vehicle?
$140K
Hi
What is the rear axle weight and compared to axle limit
When we receive the complete manual from QuikCorp we will upload to our website.
there is no "Qld Government", please explain?
Should be QFES please explain
Have burn over tests been done with the external radiant heat shields? I’m curious to see how it works compared to the current stuff states use ie internal heat shields and sprays
Hi A J! We reached out to Thermaguard, the manufacturers of the curtains and here is their response: "The short answer is no, the exterior curtains have not been burnover tested like Thermaguard’s in-cab curtains have. External curtains and sprays are strictly an additional measure for bushfire safety - effective in a controlled/laboratory environment, but for reasons listed in this link www.thermaguard.com.au/blog/our-blog/why-in-cab-fire-curtains-are-the-most-critical-com/ the risk of catastrophic failure is unacceptable. In-cab CSIRO/Mogo burnover tested shields are still the #1 tried and tested bushfire protection systems."
Thanks Justin
I'd be concerned that they have highlighted the factory tie down point in red as a tow point that if used for towing it will snap and go flying
Nice
CASE-1 CAFS line still too small, needs to be a 25mm ID, not 19mm to stop the mixing issues.
Might want to look again, it is.
@@aaroncook9219 I did, same hose as used on the QR61 prototype. 19mm ID.
@@bentheguru4986 well as said previously, you might want to look again. The CAF reel hose is 25mm and the non CAF reel is 19mm hose.
Is there a manual bypass, if electronics fail?
would prefer UHF antenna on top of cab, for better reception
Yeah, yeah, still waiting on P3's......
From us at Berserker Fire Service this is a major step forward to keeping fire fighters safe. One thing we would like to say is that we had the twin impellor on our unit and we actually replaced it with a cast iron wet end pump kit from Pumps Australia in WA and we have much better pressure with the big single impellor with pressures up to 150psi. We would be more than happy to show you its capability when you are in Rockhampton
