I grew up watching Jacksepticeye, your voice is absolutely fine. At least you're not screaming at us lol.
Been eyeing this game for a long time and finally took the plunge...very happy with the experience a masterpiece in formation, a lost gem waiting to be discovered...glad you still streaming your adventures, liked and subscribed, keep up the good work showing up what the game can do!
Welcome to the crew, shipmate! You can expect all of your free time for the next wee while to be spent on the water. Sailwind truly is a beautiful game and it has certainly brought me a lot of peace, enjoyment, and just the right amount of excitment. I appreciate the kind words, please do keep in touch and let me know how you're fairing! Fair winds, and smooth seas ⚓
Been waiting for this episode, partly to see how you'd do pronouncing my name lol. Emre part is right, the rest is just as bad as I expected haha. Don't worry, it's not even English so I don't blame you! I loved the fast forward intro and the music. I say keep both. Nice work on the pilotage, even with some fails. I think that much is expected. I recently got the sanbuq and got it into Albacore town just fine! Getting back out was an entirely different story lol. I'd love to see you take the dhow out to the other archipelagos before you get the sanbuq. I'm curious to see how a small ship handles the long voyage.
@@emrebaskocak Haha I knew I was going to butcher it, but I was absolutely still going to try! Would it be more like "Baskokatch"? I'm Scottish, so I can't even pronounce English words properly and that's my first language haha. I'm really enjoying the pilotage map! It adds a new layer, and of course gives me something to do while at sea. I plan on taking the Dhow out to the Emerald Archipelago, I'll sail back to Gold Rock, customise the Dhow, and then see if I have enough money to purchase something to keep my eye on Lat/Lon 🙂 As always thanks for watching, and apologies for how I pronounced your name!
@@Shipwreck_Sean Haha it's actually bash-co-chuck, but don't worry about it, emre is enough. I don't find your accent too hard to understand compared to some other Scottish accents I've heard. Must be differences in location within Scotland I suppose. I hope the developer adds the pilotage map in game. I think it's on the roadmap. Have you played any of the Silent Hunter games? Basically a submarine simulator where you're trying to sink ships. They have amazing maps in game that you can plot on and draw shapes on and stuff. I'd love to see that in this game. Wait you'll sail to Emerald Archipelago before customising? Oh boy I'm looking forward to that lol.
@@emrebaskocak Well, I couldn't have gotten that more wrong if I tried! I have worked in travel/tourism for years and years now so I've learned how to tone my accent down a little bit. In real life I'm sure it would be more difficult! I haven't played any Silent Hunter games but I checked out some channels on youtube since reading your comment and I've subscribed, looks like my kind of game! Ahh no, just to clear that up my plans after this episode are; - Return to Gold Rock (from Albacore) - Customise the Dhow - Sail a maiden voyage (to practice configuration) - Back to Gold Rock for a Chronocompass & Quadrant - Missions to Emerald Archipelago - Ocean Voyage!
@ Ah got it, your plan makes sense. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the dhow. I'm not sure how profitable the trip to the Emerald Archipelago will be since the dhow is quite small and I imagine a lot of the space will be taken up by supplies. Might I recommend that you make your maiden voyage with the new configuration to Alchemist's Island? There's a good reason for this, snake oil! It'll make it so you can sleep during most of the long voyage. Might be worth a thought.
@@emrebaskocak Yeah I don't think it's going to be a huge money-maker, but I'm hoping to learn a lot along the way, which is valuable in itself! That's a great suggestion actually, it'll also be worth getting some energy elixirs too as I have been in trouble a couple of times by napping at the wrong time! It also gives me an oppertunity to pronounce your username correctly when I mention it, haha!
As the name would suggest, Albacore Town specialises in various fish, seafood and other foods. It's usually good to get a couple of different trade goods so you don't drop the price of whatever you're selling too much. As long as you're dealing in light stuff like food, you can cram the dhow completely full and even carry a couple of boxes on top of the rafters of the cloth roof.
@@couplingrhino good tips!!! Tks
@@couplingrhino Well, thanks to you I have just learned that an Albacore is a type of Tuna! Cheers for clearing that up! Great advice on picking up different trade goods and being able to cram the Dhow, I'll be filling her up with all sorts of food and supplies for my sail to the Emerald Archipelago (after customising) so its very handy to know about the rafters. Cheers!
Excellent! And dont mind the ol boy at the window. Thats Tom Peepers. Got hit with a jib and aint been right since.
@@daniele6477 hahahaha I was wondering about that guy at the window ... Thanks for the background info !!! 😁
@@daniele6477 I could use a guy like Tom Peepers as crew on my boat, with eyes like his I won't need the spyglass!
Alriiiight!!! Loving the series man! Thanks for the comments in my vids too, may I talk about your channel on my videos? Good winds to you bro
@@ikolokogameplay Good to hear from you! I hope you don't mind, I took some inspiration from you with the music and using numbers on the thumbnail! You are more than welcome to mention me whenever you like, and I will be sure to mention you - I liked your top secret video! 🙂 Saúde!

Your channel has sooo much potential! I would say better thumbnails, using memes/ music in the video to keep up the momentum, and cutting off the fat would really help. Really cool stuff
@@EpicDragonfall Hey! I really appreciate you taking the time to give me some tips and it means a lot that you can see some potential. I really enjoy making these and it would be great if I could polish them up a little bit with your advice. I will do a wee bit of research into creating catchy thumbnails as I know I am lacking in that department, and I'll have some music and logos to use very soon! Thanks again, fair winds, and smooth seas! SwS ⚓
@ Anytime, I definitely recommend using GIMP, a free photo editing software. Personally I use Davinci Resolve for my videos and it does a great job removing the green screen from memes to put them in my videos. Srry not my current account. Just using this as a “Alias” or whatever
sail the seas,it's a hundred times better.
@@SteliosGigas Absolutely! We are building up to that, slowly but surely! SwS ⚓
@@Shipwreck_Sean Please make a video with it (sail the seas),I could do it myself but I don't speak English,it's an amazing game.
@@SteliosGigas I certainly will! It will be my first time on this game, so I plan on sharing the achievement with the people who watch my videos 🙂 You should give the videos a try! I watch a user called @ikolokogameplay who uploads in Portuguese! Auto-translate is your friend, and I have learned a little bit of Portuguese in the process!
"Navigational crate" 😂😂😂
The map is so cool !! That's awesome! I use one for a different game I play, and I ended up using it every session after I found out about it lol. Also, thanks for saying my name correctly, you even got it right your first try 🎉 Btw. Does Bonnie have any nicknames? Maybe the boats in the future can still reference her like this first one! hahaha. Can we see a picture of her? I love kitties ❤ and she sounded so cute meowing in the background that one episode Do the different islands rotate stock? It would be cool if there was a "year cycle", where certain goods are scarce or abundant depending on the time of year or something. Don't the seas change depending on the time of year too? It would be cool to see that in the game eventually. Maybe that's why there weren't bananas :P
@@tarryncooper4742 What game do you use one for, out if curiosity? Its very cool indeed - I'm looking forward to planning and plotting before I set sail, it'll be almost as fun as the actual sailing! Her name is Bonny but she is ofter referred to as Beanie, Bon-Bon, or "Princess" of course haha. I'll try to find a good picture and I'll post it up after the poll concludes 🙂 I don't think the stock rotates, and I don't think there are seasons in the game - however these both seem like plausible and likely additions that the dev might add, it would tie in nicely with my suggestion of including tides, etc!
AN INTERACTIVE MAP?! Neat! Also thanks for the shout-out. Loving the journey so far.
I KNOW RIGHT?! Absolute game changer, and you can plot your routes apparently... I'll be sure to play around with it a wee bit more. Thanks again for the tip, Cody!
I voted for upgrade the dhow, but research your options carefully. I know I was praising the gaff+jib on one of your earlier videos but I just discovered that it's incredibly hard to balance the boat when you're in high winds in that sail configuration. The gaff makes the boat turn upwind even with full opposite rudder. I heard that you need a good staysail to balance it, which the jib isn't large enough for. Also a tip: Bottled water is always more economical than barreled water. Each bottled water has 5 sips in it and costs 2 lions. A barrel of water with 60 sips costs 47 lions (right now in my save at Al'Nilem). That's 12 times the water for 24 times the price. Meaning you get double the amount of water per lion when you but bottled. My strategy is to stock up on bottled water each time I'm at port. I keep a full barrel on the ship and I only use it if I'm doing a long journey, like to Oasis. Another tip: One of the merchants at Al'Nilem sells empty bottles. These bottles hold 10 liquid each rather than the usual 5 per bottle. Do get one if you're interested.
In which case that will give me a lot to think about with the configuration, if of course we go that way (which is what the poll is looking like currently!) Very true about the water bottles, I like to stock up on them as a safety measure but I've been going through them quite quickly. And if I'm keeping the Dhow, I'll need all the space I can get! I didn't know about the 10 unit water bottle in Al'Nilem, I'll have to pick that up while I'm here - cheers for another good tip! I'll be sure to give you a wee mention when I pick it up 🙂
I like the channel, just watched all 7 episodes you got so far. Keep up the good content brav!
That's quite the shift you've put in! Thanks for watching and I hope you stick around, smooth sailing!
🔥 vid brav
Cool game man! I started a channel too but in portuguese! Nice stuff man
Maybe I'll need to learn some Portuguese, then - I've heard you guys are great sailors! Good luck with your channel 🙂
I also like the yapping and the longer videos. Also, UA-cam LOVES it when you do daily uploads or if you upload very often. It actually does a lot for the algorithm.
Be careful what you say because there might be a whole lot more yapping to come! I work 10 hour shifts so I don't think I'll be exactly daily but I really enjoy putting these together so I'll be posting as often as I can! Plus I need to make sure Bonny gets plenty of attention too haha! Thank you for the advice and for watching along 😊
You can make UA-cam polls in the community tab! I don't mind either way though. I feel like whatever would be more fun for you to do is best.
"Now that I'm (youtube word) menial tasks are a bit more exciting." Lol. Also, for KCD (kingdom Come) You haven't lived until you've made a drunken brawler, lucky dice, 'one of the boys' Henry. It is the most hilarious fun. There are a lot of perks that stack, and the more you imbibe, the more of a tank you become. Think of lets plays like low risk streaming. I'd tune in.
@@codyhightower5948 This sounds like great fun! I'd love to start a plythrough where I do this, and avoid the main quests as much as possible and truly live the peasant Henry experience! An idea for the future haha. Cheers for tuning in 🙂
"We are good sailors here at Shipwreck Sean" lol. Wow 7 fish with the same hook, almost 8! That must be some kind of record. I don't mind long videos, in fact I prefer them. They're more fun to watch in my opinion than shorter videos.
@@emrebaskocak Haha if I keep saying it out loud, maybe it'll become true! I'm not sure what to do about the long videos, I was thinking about keeping them as short as possible and then once I finish a "chapter" I'll release a big long video with 6/7 episodes combined... particularly for that person who likes to fall asleep to my videos lol
Your tone is understandable, and your timbre pleasant. Don't worry about it. You have good diction and enunciation, so most of your audio issues are "in your head" so to speak. A thing you might not know about deliveries : you are given rep based on package number, not mission number. (aka, one mission with three packages? three bonuses to reputation. one mail mission with one mail package? one bonus to reputation.) This is why people run mail and dates to the capital early, so they can get their rep up with these small, bigger volume package deliveries. Once money becomes more important than rep, you can start just trading flat out. Good on ya with all you're doing with your channel. Liking this series and its direction.
@@codyhightower5948 That's very nice of you to say so - I can feel myself speaking a tad more naturally with each episode, and comments like this are very encouraging - thank you. I didn't know that about the reputation per package number, that's really good to know! I'm glad I did a couple of tobacco deliveries off camera now as those missions tend to give you a decent amount of crates. Cheers for the tip! I've just uploaded Ep 6 however I'll try and make use of this while recording Ep 7. Thanks again for the kind words 🙂
The first is the correct pronunciation. Never make fun of mispronounced words. It means they learned them by reading.
Yup I think I finally nail the pronounciation by episode 3, haha! I appreciate the patience.
Weight distribution needs to be central your nose heavy
Cheers! I think the Sanbuq is next choice as I'll have more room to play with, and a heavier hull of course.
You have done the first thing right "keep on talking"...good luck for your channel!
Thank you for the kind words!
Hey man nice video. YT randomly decided to recommend your video to me and thats how i found out this game exists. Maybe ill buy it after watching your gameplay😊
@@IceBli I can't recommend it enough, it's a very relaxing game however it comes with it's own set of challenges, and the sense of reward is unmatched in my humble opinion 😊 Let me know if you ever take the plunge!
A feature I'd like to see would be some animal life in the game. Seagulls, rats eating the perishable cargo, therefore a need for a cat (on larger boats), and maybe like dolphins or something "pretty" while you're out at sea that kind of jump around. It's lonely out there lol.
@@tarryncooper4742 I absolutely love this idea. The seagulls that are in game should come out to sea a little bit further, to give a wary sailor hope that land is near! Ships cat is an awesome idea, however I'm a little bit biased in agreement to that!
Bonnie!!! She sounds cute ❤
26:14 Congrats! You made it! And you made it look so easy. I'm going to stop watching here to not spoil Oasis for myself. I'm going to boot up the game now and try to do the voyage myself once again, and I'll drop by again to proclaim my victory or admit my defeat lol.
I make it look easy but I'm worrying constantly in my mind! Good luck, and I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on 🙂
@@Shipwreck_Sean I made it! Did it the exact way you did, I was already at the academy so I pointed the ship NNE and off I went. Hit a nasty storm along the way that almost tipped me over (first time I saw water inside the ship) so I had to close my gaff sail but after 10 minutes or so it let up. After some more sailing in a clear morning, the lighthouse showed itself. So happy I made it! :D You played no small part in it so I appreciate the video
@@emrebaskocak You have no idea how good this makes me feel. I'm very happy to have helped, and I hope you enjoyed the sail - sounds like it was quite the adventure! I'll have to pick your brain sometime about using the gaff sails.
@@Shipwreck_Sean I definitely did enjoy the sail! What added to the enjoyment was the fact that I had 4 missions due tomorrow when I left. So I was getting anxious about whether I'd make it there in time or not. I was so relieved when I sighted the lighthouse. I'm 100% the wrong person to talk to about gaff sails lol. I started playing like a week ago and only have 35 or so in game days played. I got a gaff sail and a jib on the dhow for improved upwind performance, and they work remarkably. Perhaps better than lateen, I'm not sure. The gaff definitely looks way cooler than the lateen though. Also you mentioned playing off screen until you get enough cash to upgrade to the bigger ship. I'd say keep the videos coming even if they're repetitive. I'd still enjoy them.
Haha the amount of times I have accepted a mission without checking the due date, and then panic ensues! That sounds like a great configuration! I learned this game by following Simgamers let's play during the summer last year and the configuration was similar but I couldn't get the hang of it. I think I might manage now that I've had experience with the Sanbuq. That's very kind of you, I'm going to take a little break for the weekend and I'll be right back at it next week. Thanks again for watching my videos and congratulations on the successful voyage!
Looking forward to seeing how you tackle the trip to Oasis. I tried it myself today for the first time and after 3 days I accepted I got lost and aborted. I'm sure I'll learn what I did wrong by watching you.
@@emrebaskocak The video will be uploaded very shortly, in the next hour or so! I'm no expert, and you'll see that there are errors, but the trick is confidence, and a wee bit of madness 😊 cheers for watching and sticking around!
@@Shipwreck_Sean Oh I knew there would be madness alright, setting off with just a lateen sail and no navigation equipment but a compass. No rum either! Yet you still made it (presumably) lol
@@emrebaskocak No spoilers 😉 But yes, I made sure to stock up on some Honey Beer to settle the nerves!
I liked the quick edit at the beginning recapping what you've been up to.
Cheers, I've been experimenting with editing, learning as I go on!
It's pretty surprising how realistic this game is. The cartoony look throws me, but seeing you balance the weight is interesting. What are some things you'd like to see added to the game? I want it possible to lash your supplies together
Welcome back, Tarryn! Lashing would indeed be a cool feature. Personally I would love to see tides in the game which would force you to create a proper sail plan and time your casting off appropriately. I would also like a "player home" so that you can spend your money on some fancy decorations, and have a fine humble aboad to show off your gains. It would add a sense of "comfort" returning to your home port.
I like the series so far. Your voice is pleasant to listen to and you're obviously very knowledgeable so that makes it all the more fun to watch you. I hope you keep the series going.
That's very kind of you to say! I'm hoping to get a wee bit more confident with speaking off the cuff like this and so far this has been working wonders. I'm really glad you're enjoying the videos so far, and I hope you hang around for some more 😊
Ohhhh. Never knew the bit about the north star. Cool, I'm learning! And yeah, couldn't hear the difference between your M and N lol. But a lot of people talk like that, don't beat yourself up for being from Scotland. You ever heard someone from Florida talk in comparison? Incomprehensible.
It'll come in handy when we grab the quadrant - The next episode is going to fast track a little bit so we can start playing with Navigation goodies soon! I'm really trying to be careful with my accent on here haha, I appreciate the encouragement. Ps I appreciate you taking the time to watch both of my videos so far, it really does mean a lot 🙂
Oh cool, a new video right after I've watched the first one. First!
Nice video. I'm California and have never played the game but it seems cool. I like your voice. Maybe tell us some stories while you have downtime? What's it like in Scotland?
Thank you very kindly - the main reason I'm doing this is to become more confident with my speaking. I can tell you for sure that it's a lot colder in Scotland than California! I will prepare some stories, maybe some about Scotland 🙂
Arrr, this video is eating me whole! Cracking video bud.
Cheers me heartie!
Great to see a new Sailwind series casting off! You'll be sailing a big ship sooner if you sail the plucky dhow to Dragon Cliffs or Aestrin full of merchandise. You can haul a crate of sculptures to Gold Rock City from Oasis if it isn't too stormy and you centre it properly, shifting the weight a little if necessary. If it starts to feel like a grind, make it more interesting and enjoy the journey!
I'm very excited about it! It's a wonderful game of which I'm very glad to have found. I've had a couple of successful trips to Oasis, however I still experience the fear while travelling there - I suppose that's the beauty of the game! Fair winds and smooth seas!
Wow, epic vid! Imagine back in the day, middle of a storm, no harness, exhausted, fighting against a sail and rigging that want to throw you overboard at any moment... Talk about "Hold Fast". ❤️🏴☠️
They were truly made of different stuff back then! I'd love to give it a go, but that's easy for me to say. I'll stick to the harness for now! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I live near that it is massive and scary especially the ocean
What's pitch, some kind off treatment for the wood..
It's marine glue, boiled and then poured between the planks of wood. It creates a water tight seal so that water doesn't travel through. The process is called "Paying the deck."
