If you look at Damon Point on Google Maps, you generally walk the bottom of the Point, not the top, if that helps at all. The gravel "travels", sometimes it's in one spot sometimes another. I usually walk the whole length of it finding where it's at today. It's quite a walk, between 2-3 miles to the end. Hopefully you have better luck next time!

Yeah, the bands make it an agate, as opposed to it's base rock which is either chalcedony or carnelian.

I always try to be careful and aware of where the tide's at. In that particular timestamp I'm not close to the ocean. I've always lived close to the ocean, pretty much anywhere in the Netherlands you're no more than 2 away from the coast. But you're right, I didn't grow up in a house with the beach right out the front door. How I wish.

I refer to it as my "favorite spot", I keep it to myself. I found this spot going down the 101 stopping at promising beaches. If you're looking for a spot to go, some good beaches are by Lincoln City, Pacific City and Tillamook.

Most people will tumble or cut them. Personally I just wash them, give them an acid bath if needed to remove river gunk, and then apply mineral oil to shine them up, and put them in glass jars to display them. I'd like to get a cab machine to polish up specific areas, possibly a vibratory tumbler which isn't as rough on the stone and keeps more natural features. I'd like to turn some into a necklace also. I hope that answers your question!

They're on the bucket list but I haven't been yet, I do know the Kalama river is a good spot to check out. I've tried going to the Salmon river but park rancher said better not to as most if not all is on Weyerhaeuser property and they will prosecute rockhounders (I even called and asked for permission). You'll do well in Southern Washington rivers, good luck and have fun!

Thank you, yeah they do! Rockhounding will take you to many beautiful places, I don't think that should be over looked. That cherry on top does round it off nicely though. 😄

I refer to it as my favorite spot, one spot I keep to myself. However, if you're wanting to get into rockhounding look for beaches where the tide gets to gravel/where new gravel is deposited because it can change from day to day. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

You absolutely can, I just use straight citric acid because it's easier to make a stronger or weaker solution.
