With the stock cast piston?
@@blackout7615 yes oem piston with new rings. Engine failure was from the timing chain
I just bought a 27 with top chest when I run out of space might buy a 42 or another 27 and bolt together. How did you bring the 42 home? It fit in suv?
@@herbbot8241 that’s awesome sounds like a great combo. I brought the whole setup home on a trailer. I’d imagine the 27” would fit into an suv laying down. I have another video of the unloading you can check it out for size reference
@Justgaragenit ya i took my 27 inch home in suv...wondering if 42 would fit lol thx I'll take some measurements next time
@ the 42” might be a squeeze. Should have fairly accurate number online. The 42” comes with the casters installed as well on a pallet.
1/2 the life, 1/10 the price. Great box.
@@buddylouis8348 heck ya. Definitely gets the job done. Great option for the price.
I’m torn between doing this or getting a 56”. I wanted a 56 bc of the longer top two drawers, but until I get around to building a bigger garage my space is at a premium and I’m out of storage. I may just grab a 27” for now then when I have more space grab a 42 and do this.
@@mkearn724 either would be a great choice. I love having the 27” the drawers are nice and deep and none of them are the super small drawers on most affordable toolboxes. Once you end up with more space or a larger garage is really easy to expand.
This gotta be an ecoboost

Picked up a $61 dollar 250ft lbs digital model as my first.
@@dancearoundtheworld5360 heck ya that’s awesome the digital is a very nice tool to have and sounds like you snagged a great deal as well
@Justgaragenit yes deals only
Without doing any cutting, all you need to do is build it up with 4 blocks of 1/2” or whatever the depth of the lip…steel in each corner. Weld or screw the steel block into the lowers and then run whatever top you want across. No damage to the boxes.
@@TheAcenightcreeper that’s awesome thanks for the advice. That’s the only downfall of this setup is the lip between boxes. Building it up would be an easy fix and would look great
Or you could just cut plywood to fit and just throw your butcher block on top. You could even double up and just use the nice wood instead of regular plywood if you want to get all fancy.
@ it would definitely be nice to have a top. The plywood with the butcher block or even a stainless cap would work awesome
Love the completely blacked out box like that. I plan on purchasing the 42" like your box on the right, and then putting a walnut butcher block on top.
@@featheredcoyote5477 that would be an awesome setup. You definitely won’t be disappointed. The butchers block on top would be really addition
@Justgaragenit I've convinced the wife to incorporate it into our kitchen. We already butcher walnut butcher block counter tops that I installed. Along with black appliances. You have the only video I could find with the all blacked out model. Merry Christmas and hope ya have a safe and Happy New Year
@@featheredcoyote5477 that’s amazing I wish I could convince the wife. No chance over here haha. I’d love to see the setup once it’s all done. And merry Christmas as well to you and your family hope you have a great Christmas.
Great video, very informative. Just wondering, on your 42"roll cab. Does your roll cab have 2 -90* angle braces underneath the roll cab, between the wheels? The reason I ask, I bought 2- 42" roll cab recently. One had more and beefier bracing (4 total), and the other had fewer and flimsier bracing, only (2). Facing the roll cab, one had U shaped bracing at each set of wheels, along with 2- 90* angle bracing between the wheels. The other had only 2- 90* angle brace at the wheels, instead of the U shaped bracing. No bracing between the wheels.
Was it in a flood
@@KevinBurgess-wq9vt it sat outside for many years with a torn boot on the shifter . Not exactly ideal 😂
Talk about planned obselecense what a shyt way to have to do a brake job. Good on you for helping out the blue collar do it your self kinda people 👌🏻🤙

quick and easy to inspect and clean is this a part of your maintenance program?
would you use these?

Yes BUT. once I got to the point where the hub was supposed to break free with a few taps of the hammer, no such luck! Taking a break nowto relieve the frustration but at this point, canniot get the hub to break free! I foolishly tried a clamp that grabbed the perimeter of the hub and pushed against the axle, but soon realized the axle just retreats and puts no force to break the hub free. UGH
@ darn eh. Sometimes they can be stubborn to break free. A big hammer will normally do the trick. I was fortunate enough with the ones I did they weren’t seized. Good luck with the hub removal keep us updated.
The u.s general series 3 combo, what's your thoughts lets hear it below leave a comment or question.
All and all what's everyone think is this a tool you could see yourself using out in the shop? lets hear your thoughts below.
You dont gotta take the drawers out to bolt em together btw. If you just reach in there and use your finger eyes the drawer doesnt obstuct it.
Btw you can easily remove the drawer latches. The guides have detents to keep them in the closed position. Did this on my 6 drawer full bank cart and it makes it so much nicer to use.
@@BraydenSB that’s awesome I appreciate it. I’m used to the locks my snap on krl has similar detents I imagine I could remove both if needed. Definitely good to know.
I been doin this without sockets for years fuckin up all the hoses 🤠
Genius until you need one of those sockets.
This would have been REAAAAALLY useful for me abiut 7 years ago but unfortunately I am not as bright as most people say I am

Been looking at this for a couple of months...waiting for Black Friday sales at Home Depot, to pick one up. Really need it for my tractor, and all of my implements...Thanks for the review.
@@triglidecowboy7434 thanks for watching. They are definitely a great tool to have. Makes it much easier and faster than a traditional hand pump grease gun.
Local Mechanic quoted me for $780 for each side half complete bearing
@@SunShine-bb2nc that’s wild, definitely price gouging. Fairly easy job and reasonable parts. Easier than changing most wheel bearings by a long shot
Thanks for the video
Did you look at the napa Carlyle brand boxes ? .. they're rebranded Homak boxes . 24" deep which is better than the US general. Also were there any customs charges coming across the border ?
@@EverydayJ1786 honestly I looked at a few different boxes here I haven’t really looked at the Napa boxes since they sold international. And I got away lucky not getting charged duty. But I’d figure duty in to the cost if you plan to go pick one up
For Carlyle being $1150-$1400 for the 41”. I’d expect it to be better. But maybe not twice the bang for the buck. Then they only have a Evercraft 26” for $593. It would be cheaper to get another U.S. General 42” and have even more space.
@@chaselesser3191 it’s definitely a good value for what you get. I have a snap on Krl 29” deep and I could easily swap it with my u.s general and be content.
Very nice ! I bought 2 42" boxes and bolted a 27" between them. Got the corresponding top boxes and an end locker. I was patient and got them all with a coupon or on sale. Financed most of it by selling my 35 yr old Snap On box, since I no longer need a high end box since it is just used at home now. I think the quality of these boxes is fantastic for the price.
@@SmithFarmTilton that sounds like a pretty killer setup. What colour did you go with. They are definitely great boxes for the price. Eventually I’d like to build a work station like you have.
What a setup. Any pictures?
I was considering purchasing the top box to go with my 42 but I might do this instead. Now I need a good coupon for the 27. Thanks for the video!
@@Taz3459 it’s a great setup. Harbor freight just had the 27” on for $279 at the end of September.
I picked one up for $ 279
@@SA-bq1us that’s awesome that’s a killer deal.
He’ll yea buddy doing mine soon. So jelly of your lift!
@@SherlocckHolmez that’s awesome man the job goes pretty well these teslas are really well built and are easy to work on. The hoist is definitely super nice to have but definitely not necessary.
@@Justgaragenit I bought a nice set of flat top jack stands. Been gravy ever since. Did an upper control arm now rear bearings comin up. I agree well built. 2019 model 3 179000km.
Although I’m hoping it’s the wheel bearing and not a bad cv joint.
@@SherlocckHolmez if it’s the wheel bearing you’ll hear it more under side load. Turning side to side you’ll hear it hum.
@@Justgaragenit I havent particularly noticed a hum or a click. When the car is jacked up theres a slop/clunk when I spin the tire. seems tight otherwise,
Hey did u had to pay anything at the border when entering back into Canada planing on getting one
@@harkiratbhangu4983 yes you’d have to pay duty unless you’ve been out of the country long enough.
I'm tempted by the series 3... But I'm getting older and want a 1 and done box so I'm now looking at the tekton/rousseau 60x27 or 60x30. If I was just getting started again that 27" series 3 could do it all with the proper modifications and organizers. Wonder what your cost if for the Canada made tekton if you get it directly from Rousseau.
@@PunisherOfDeath101 I’m not sure what the cost would be. I did a good amount of research and for the price and quality this made the most sense.
How many miles did that model y have for the wheel bearing to wear out?
Depends on how you drive or hit potholes typically it lasts around 45k-60k miles
I would have loved to see it in action man!!!
@@Shortytj1 I’ll have to make a video of it in action. It’s a must have tool in the box in my opinion. Works pretty slick.
On the 27 inch 1. How much weight does that toolbox? Hold the wider drawers and do they have 2 slides on each side? Please comment back and let me know. Just on the wider drawers, they should come through with. 4 sliders on those drawers.Thank you very much for this video
@@martinneps9387 the bottom drawer is the only one with 2 slides in each side the rest are all single on each side. Seems to hold weight really good no complaints.
Up. I like the 27 inch, but I would like to know if the wide drawers have 2 rails on each side to hold weight. Please comment back in. What is the selling price of this toolbox? Thank you for this video. Hope you let me know.
@@martinneps9387 on the 27” the only drawer that has double rails is the bottom the rest of all the drawers are single on each side. The price of the box combined for both was $1006 usd out the door. Thanks for watching.
@@JustgaragenitHow much was just the 27? I do. A lot of coins and I want one just to lock up my coins. And I have a lot of penny's that the single draw rails will not whole. That's why I'm looking for a stronger toolbox. What is the price of the 27?Please let me know thanks
Nice setup. I got the 27" recently with the top chest. Love the expandability options in the future with other size boxes.
That’s awesome, they are great. The expansions are endless. Great bang for the buck.
