Incredibly helpful, thank you!!! Going into the logic behind each item makes this 10x more valuable than a basic "buy this" guide.
Gonna stop watching video after 3 mins because it’s misleading all you are doing is explain basic mechanics
Comeback mechanics are weird, I feel like it's too easy to just aim and bully the weakest player on the enemy team who has the least souls because like you said if that team is ahead that kill is just worth a lot for some reason. I kinda wish it rewarded taking out people with big kill streaks more than just bullying the ones doing the worst being just as rewarding
Thank you for doing a proper video rather than 'check this build out' oh it's just a vod. I appreciate you (and am trying to improve with geist atm!)

Great guide. Is there a build in game for this?
What u think abt long range weapon perk?
Hello. Thank you for this video. It is really interesting and detailed. Could you please share your build name? Would be nice to have it(everything in one place) and to try. Thank you in advance!
im is your rgenular viewer please dont leave….. We will always be here for you.
I like this guide and I believe its a really good introduction and I agree with a lot of options provided and choices, I think you missed a few big outliers such as Healing Booster and Headhunter because of how her kit really boils down onto sustaining herself through life steal, especially because Healbane and anything anti heal pretty much destroys her tankiness pretty effectively. I believe she already does pretty substantial early game spirit DPS and so rushing things like her primary weapon especially if you can flick headshots constantly can result in very favorable against quite a lot of match ups, making her weapon damage reliable doesn't only benefit her dueling but also her sustain especially when matched with other sustain items on green and purple. My build (ID: 140883) isn't the same but I think it encourages a hybrid mix of DPS a 50/50 between both damage types until late game with Escalating Exposure but in the end this resulted in a big difficult for them to counter because early game I was deleting a huge margin of their health bar with one headshot and in the late game my spirit damage scaled and my tankiness has reached potential due to "return fire" and Escalating Exposure.
where can you find those tables with the exact soul values you show throughout the video? you mention that there are resources but you don't link them anywhere lol
Something I really don't like about guns in deadlock is that especially revolvers like geist's or mirage's, which as you point out at the beginning of the video, are supposed to be flick heavy weapons turn into some awkward tracking weapons as realistically your fire rate will eventually be so high that your gun becomes a slow rifle/smg. I'd prefer if there was a way to go for weapon damage without fire rate so that revolvers stay in their "high risk, high reward/make your shots count" niche.
does mirage even have a revolver? also, i think lady geist’s gun is still quite unique and you do need to hit your headshots in order to deal substantial damage with it because your dps is not high enough to compete with the rest of the guns otherwise (assuming you’re not building spirit damage over weapon damage). even with high fire rate, lady geist needs to hit at least some headshots to win duels against heroes with high burst fire. plus, revolvers and slow rifles are really not that different from each other in many games, other than that slow rifles are a little more flexible. still, lady geist’s gun is pretty unique as most characters have either shotguns or automatic weapons. also, you can choose to buy headhunter and crippling headshot if you really want to maximize her weapon’s identity, because both of those items are quite suboptimal without hitting headshots.
@@eebbaa5560 i don't know why you hyperfocused so much on headshots as i never mentioned them and it's quite obvious you need to make your shots count and headshots is how you do that mainly. And yes, while mirage's gun model looks more like something like an smg with a silencer, just looking at (or honestly just trying it) the stats and comparing the gun to lady geist's revolver and automatic weapons like wraith's or haze's will tell you that they're similar and they scale similarly. In general you essentially confirmed what i said as in having to hit your headshots etc, all that feels way more impactful if your gun shoots slower but hits harder. If the scaling means it shoots far faster than you can aim precisely you're either gonna be less precise cause you wanna shoot more bullets or more precise while shooting slower and not maxing out your dps potential. Btw headhunter works even better on automatic weapons as you're more likely to hit a headshot and the item doesn't scale with bullet dmg anyway (which i wish it did).

as you can't chose your team it's very RNG based as one team can be better agains another team. Its call "counter picks" in other mobas but this game don't allow to midigate this in ranked.
Urn gives an ability point. Guardians give ability points. Walkers give an ability point. Aka they level you up without the souls needed for a level. They are a significant boon if you can get walkers and guardians early. Urn also gives a random stat bonus and AP for EVERYONE in your team, meaning it's very significant the earlier you do them. Having multiple people on your team with their ultimates maxed or best skills maxed, even without items, means they do so much more damage. Also you forgot entirely to mention that GUN DAMAGE scales up with levels. Spirit, does not. This means if you have a higher level than the enemy your gun will do more. This is why gun builds with a good push usually become a complete stomp.
These were things you forgot in your video entirely by the way.
People are thinking about farming patterns when there are lanes that need to be pushed.
Objectives are very important, especially the necessity of denying and confirming the souls on them, these souls are given to the entire team
How to tell 0 iq player to STAY FUCKING BEHIND YIUR CREEP when laning phase
deadlock is not easy and it will be just for pimply geeks and nerds. lets compare it to an already very popular game, soccer. one of the main reasons why soccer has so many fans is the simplicity of the goal of the game and its mechanics; the guys on the field want to kick the ball into the other team's goal. the reason why deadlock, and basically every esport ever, will never be mainstream because there's so many weird mechanics and balance patch notes that happen every so often that the average person wont want to learn about because its complicated. in other words, the family and group of people you eat thanksgiving with, do not and will not ever give a crap about your video game. like i actually cannot believe yall think this game is watchable come on lets have some actual common sense
Literal single digit IQ mouthbreather take.
you missed 2 big things imo. 1- souls dropped from guardians/walkers are actually really important not because their individual value you see on the screen, but they are distributed to your entire team (x6). failing to secure those souls and getting them denied is a big loss for your team especially early on 2 - bridge buff every 10 mins. while its not a 'soul' item persay, its been theorized that the bridge buff is about equivalent to 3000 souls worth of items, with the benefit of not taking a weapon slot. keeping an eye on the clock and getting those + machines at the appropriate time alone can give you a good boost that takes almost no time or effort, just being aware of the 10 min timing to ideally bridge buff, steal a machine, then get your own machines
Wasn't sure to include the Bridge Buff but I agree that it's insanely impactful. Very reminiscent of Dota's river runes that give insane buffs like Double Damage and or Double Movementspeed. I didn't realize the Guardian/Walker souls were team wide x6 values. That's def a huge deal. Here's a pin.
Bridge buff is insane. I'd argue that it can be better to have a teammate grab that bridge buff and immediately die with it than allow the enemy to grab it and use it completely unchecked, especially in the early/mid-game. It's too huge in any team fight to just hand over to the enemy team.
@@ColonialDagger id agree especially the 1st one @ 10mins, its such a massive powerspike that gets completely ignored by a lot of people even in higher ranked games. giving it up vs a steal, death & 20 second respawn is 100% worth imo
@@prohibit3252 thanks yeah i actually didnt know that either until a week ago, but on the flipside if your own walker goes down and you can stay nearby and deny those souls without dying, its also a nice denial of enemy souls what i see some top rank players do now re bridge buffs is if a teammate who that specific buff is even better on is nearby, they'll signal that teammate to pick it up but that requires a bit of coordination :P
Bridge buff is every five minutes starting at 10 minutes

5:28 just to clarify, only denizen camps on the enemy side of the map convert into unsecured souls. this gives players a chance to get back farm that was stolen from their jungle camps. if you are farming neutral creeps on your side of the map, you get the full value immediately.
Negative ghostrider, all Denizen camps turn into Unsecured souls when destroyed, no matter the location. This is stated on the wiki as well.
I dont think thats accurate
@@brettzolstick989 no it’s not i was mistaken

I think a recent update changed the values for denying, giving 40% from shooting the orb and 60% from last hitting the minion. Still very good to always try and secure and deny though
Every update they release has a laundry list of changes like this but I love it.
I like the change. It does make not claiming not quite as punishing. But if you're really good at denying, you can still severly gimp your opponents in the laning phase.
@MrSupersonic2012 yeah I agree, especially since my aim still isn't the best yet haha
W editing
@7:58 uhhhhhhhh yeah ur just straight up incorrect here. They are one of the best single camps you can ever do or steal from the other team. The only thing that scales harder is the urn. That 1 room with the double machine is worth more than 3 full waves if you full clear it.... it should be a mega priority always.
Hey, I took another look at what I said in the video. What I said was misleading and I should've clarified more on Sinner's Sacrifices in the video. Sinner's Sacrifices are definitely worth a lot of Souls and are great to take throughout the game. What I mostly meant was the math below. Before 10 minutes. 1 Sinner's Sacrifice is slightly more Souls than a wave of troopers with the double machine room giving you essentially 2 waves. (660 souls from 2 machine vs. 300 from 1 wave, 2.2 : 1 ratio). After 10 minutes, the ratio skews slightly towards trooper waves (818 souls from 2 machines vs 472 from 1 wave, 1.73 : 1 ratio) and keeps skewing towards troopers (when you're only looking at solo exp). The base value of Sinner's Sacrifice machine is so high that it pretty much carries its value throughout the whole game even if it becomes slightly less valuable as time goes on. But when you compare it with the fact that Sacrifices are probably giving you solo Soul value instead of sharing it with a teammate, it's value goes even higher later in the game where you're probably sharing most of your waves with a teammate.
@@prohibit3252 its not about math, its about punching a machine over and over while your team feeds. i literally cant not go to the double machine rooms and even die stealing the enemies 😎
@@prohibit3252 ur missing the T2 minion from that room as well in ur soul count. that 1 single camp is the highest soul camp in the game (more than the T3 minion camps) they also give a golden statue buff. they are mega priority, in High elo we feed them to our teams carry specifically on cooldown to get their dmg higher.

i haven’t played league in like two months because of this game, but i wonder if i’ll be better at league now after learning and playing deadlock without all the hang-ups i had with league.
Any time I take a break from League I end up playing better tbh. I think Deadlock's death timers being so punishing late game make you value your life in the late game. And I could see build diversity in Deadlock make players better at recognizing more build options and flexibility in League.
@@prohibit3252 i think the biggest thing for me is the fact that souls are the only currency that you have to manage. exp in league is more important than gold but it’s so easy to miss that it’s unintuitive compared to deadlock. the fact that everything is tied to souls in this game really makes the decision making process that much clearer to me, especially when you factor in the way that objectives give you flex slots. i often find myself feeling lost while playing league whereas decisions feel much more obvious in deadlock.
@@eebbaa5560 I don't play league a lot but I've always found it to be a lot different than 3rd person MOBAs where I feel like it is more fast paced in laning phase. Weapon and spirit damage helped me understand League's systems better but I always feel the need to shove and steal jungle and get punished for it, or play passive and get outfarmed. I just feel that the game is so much older and the player base has a lot more unwritten rules when it comes to how to play the game where with Deadlock I feel that I don't get punished as hard since there are so much more people learning and trying new things. This is all under the context of only playing LoL in full parties tho with a group that has been playing a long time, so I am obviously playing against people with 100s of more hours. From my outside perspective tho this is usually what I see when I play League, may be much higher paced at decent MMRs.
would like to propose some honorable mentions: * infuser - if you are weird and max out life drain first, after 2 upgrades this has good synergy since the 20 spirit power adds like 14 dps (which is about 20%) to it +20% lifesteal and the cooldowns line up. * alchemical flask - the 50% weapon damage bonus + the ticking damage that can ramp up escalating exposure and cover roughly the same area as a bomb kind slaps hard because it can be snuck into bomb geist, gun geist, silence geist, etc * echo shard - it's good on all heroes but sometimes Pockets need to be stopped with maximum prejudice; double silence is obscene, and the fact that you can even weave a silence glyph in between your tethers is also busted. When I started playing geist and was too trash at the game, this was my goto because at worst you shut down enemies even if you can't kill them (by yourself) * majestic leap - I like this because in some games you get focused too much, so running neutral camps and getting low HP, then pouncing on people with your ult feels like about as much as you can do
Some games I def max Life Drain first. It's not common but it does happen so I'll try Infuser out. It's pretty cheap and lines up with your Drain cooldown for a strong all in. I always dismissed Echo Shard but I might have to try it late game at least for the laughs. 10 second silence does sound hilarious lmao.

@@Alticroo glad someone noticed that part :)
this video has cleared up a lot of misconceptions that i had with lady geist, especially in terms of which stats to prioritize. for example, i was prioritizing lifesteal and cooldown too much in the early game and feeling very ineffective, as well as having some very frustrating experiences getting cc'd and oneshot. hopefully i'll be able to play her with more consistency and less struggle from now on. i still worry that lady geist could easily become a bad hero if she gets nerfed too much due to how prevalent her weaknesses are, but understanding what her strengths and weaknesses are and how to play around them was something that i was really struggling with. in terms of itemization, the idea of buying important stats on 1250 items and saving up for big 6200 purchases really stuck out to me, especially since i usually waste a lot of gold on situational items and 3000 slots like superior cooldown too early. i did have a few questions about your 1250 choices though; one, what do you think of kinetic dash, and two, why do you buy mystic shot? i don't know if you build kinetic dash in your games, but do you think it's necessary, more of a luxury item, or a skip entirely? i usually build it for the mobility, but it doesn't seem good enough to prioritize over warp stone or any of the three 1250 items you mentioned in this video. as for mystic shot, is the 12% weapon damage (plus the 10% bonus for a T2 weapon item) worth building the item for alone? the passive effect doesn't really seem that good to me and i often skip it on heroes such as pocket, shiv, or lash, because the flat spirit damage on the burst shot doesn't seem like it's worth the investment. anyway, sorry for the long comment; just wanted to say that this is a really well-made video; i hope your channel gains more traction soon because i haven't seen many other high-quality educational videos for this game. i feel as though i've learned a lot from this channel and i would love to see more in-depth educational content like this, even if you aren't getting as many views as you should be. i don't know if you play other heroes at all, but it would be nice to see guides for them as well if you do. it would also be cool if you could do some kind of match analysis or series of clip reviews where you break down important situations for lady geist or other heroes. or just general concepts like when/how to play aggressively in lane, how to roam, how to push your lead, etc. p.s. what are your crosshair settings?
@@eebbaa5560 Thanks for the in depth comment, I love stuff like this. I personally really like kinetic dash and sometimes get it really early since it helps with sustain and mobility. I don't think it's necessary but in prefer the play style of the item. Mystic Shot is nice for my build specifically because I transition into spirit items in the mid game like Mystic Slow, Bullet Resist Shred, and Escalating Exposure. Mystic Shot will give me stronger early game while also proccing all three of those items off a single shot. I have my personal item build in my previous Geist video but I think this game really rewards critical thinking in how to structure your build and is very dynamic. I probably should make a video going over some itemization philosophies. I play on 1440p resolution now so my cross hair settings won't exactly match yours. I'm going to make a short video showing how to get my cross hair soon. I really appreciate your comment and I'm happy you enjoyed the video ❤️
@@prohibit3252 thanks for the reply. i still haven’t found room in my build for mystic shot, and i feel like i usually sell it by the time i get the other spirit items, but i’m still willing to experiment with it. and yeah, i agree about learning how to itemize on your own, which is why i really appreciate this video for not being a step-by-step build guide but more of a discussion on which stats are important. i’ve started playing warden lately and i’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with my own gun warden build and trying to figure out what items to build in which order. i feel like just a few days of making my own builds has really expanded my knowledge on itemization and improved my intuition a lot, and the framework that you provided was a really useful starting point, especially since warden kind of has a similar prioritization to lady geist (weapon damage, mobility, and resistances). also, i figured out how to make a similar crosshair to yours by editing a template from that crosshair generator on github and i’ve really liked it so far. anyway, thanks for your comments and the video; hope to see more from you soon.
chapters would be nice but good vid
Will try to add them in future videos.
please answer: is extra/improved/boundless spirit good at all? i’m trying to decide if i should buy it on shiv or not
Boundless is probably fine as a luxury item but I wouldn't get it early. Shiv needs to get tanky first with things like Leech and Armor items but afterwards Spirit Power can boost your damage of your bleed and dash by a ton.
@@prohibit3252 do you think extra spirit is any good in lane? i never buy extra or improved spirit on anyone i play because flat spirit power seems really bad as a stat to me. i don’t know if that’s a misconception on my part, but i never find room to buy it over all of the other spirit items that i could be buying instead.

A lot of games have the same multiplicative damage reduction math. I've found it more helpful to think of the effective hp (1/[1-resist]) that items give. Titanic Magazine 18% resist = 1.22ehp (1/[1-0.18]) Point Blank 15% resist = 1.18ehp Siphon Bullets 18% resist = 1.22ehp Improved Reach 12% resist = 1.14ehp Bullet Resist Shredder 5% resist = 1.05ehp 1.22*1.18*1.22*1.14*1.05=2.10ehp 2.10ehp is the equivalent of taking only 48% damage (1/2.10) a.k.a. having 52% resist tl;dr: ehp stacks multiplicatively, so no need to worry about stacking too many resist sources imo
Can resist be negative from debuff?
Editing my comment after testing what @SlippyJoe said. Resistances can be shredder below 0% resulting in damage amplification for the shooter.

Interestingly, resist debuffs appear to work in a similar multiplicative way: when you reduce your opponent's spirit resist by 10%, say, you're really multiplying spirit damage taken by 1.1.
