On plane vs inside take away - Inspired by George Knudson & Moe Norman
Переглядів 3712 роки тому
Knudson's "inside style" take away is much more "aggressive release" friendly and less critical for timing. It connects the body better, also somehow it will make the back swing shorter...

noticed that you now use a slightly closed stance where before you seemed to suggest, recommend, an open stance. Pretty sure they both have pro's and cons and watching the pro's leads me to believe neither are the best stance. Please give your experience
It depends on your body's flexibility. A close stand is good for a less flexible body. To me, I tend to use an open stand for short clubs, close stand for long clubs. In my experience, there is no absolute best stand. Feeling nature and being comfortable at the time you play is the key. An open stand is good for you today, doesn't mean it will be good for you tomorrow. Hit a few balls on the range and find the most comfortable way for that day. 😊
Good food for thought. I too have been using both , like you, open for irons and hybrids, slightly closed driver. Funny though as if I'm teeing off on a short par 3 say 120 yards or less I'll tee up the ball use a pitching wedge closed stance to draw the ball to the flagstick making sure the club-face is square and 9 times out of 10 It'll land the ball in birdie range Thanks for the fast reply
How many yards do u hit w 7 iron carry?
@@calpark6183 It depends. Will have an approximate 15 to 20 yard range variation. Normally 160 yards with no wind.
His swing is better than bodyturn swing
On many shots he had a closed stance , beautiful swing
The music has a walking in the rain after being stood up fell to it.
Sam was the best golfer ever. It's not even close

Sam has the greatest swing of his era.
Sam had a great swing.
Such a sweet thing. It’s a shame he passed so young. I wish there was more historical tournament videos of him out there (besides shells wonderful world of golf)
His swing started with the arms first slightly, which get club in front of him before front side rotates
Interesting he always cocks his right knee forward just when he starts his backswing.
My favorite golf swing of all time for its simplicity and repeatability. This is how to swing a club. I specifically like his leg action and knee position at address, hips open to target. But it's the fact that he's coming forward before he's halfway back and maintains balance and flow throughout that impresses the most. Perfection.
I agree
Really like your swing, especially from your first vid with a much more pronounced flater version. May I ask, why are you now more upright? My next range session, I'm going to experiment with a very pronounced flat swing with no upswing. I'm flater than most currently due to my height (5'6") just to see what happens.
Thanks for your comment. The reason why I change the swing plane from flat to a little bit towards upright is because I feel the swing plane I have now is more natural for my body, I'm 5 10 by the way. Also the older I become, the weaker my body is, and I find myself relying on my hands and arms more and more to generate power. I will definitely recommend you to try some different ways to find your most natural move. Because I believe "natural move" is the king for a golfer.
@@jkissgolf Thanks for reply.
Inside to Over the top, nice similarities
I'm now extremely motivated to work on my swing. A piece of art indeed. Love his swing. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Looks a bit like Jack's back then as well!! 🏌⛳
Goosebumps 💥🔥⭐
Classic swing😊
Does anyone know where the last hole they show in this video is? It looks insane.
That short clip you are seeing asking about is the last filmed shot of George Knuson's 1986 video " The Swing Motion " filmed in Bermuda sadly under three years before he died. He was born in '37 so he would hace been 49 or 50 in that video. The credits at tge end of the video include "The Mid Ocean Club ". The flag on the green of that hole shows a #16. If you want to watch the video it is a gem. Just search " George Knudson The Swing Motion ". That video is uploaded on UA-cam. You will see that hole right at the beginning and end of the video.
nice swing man!
Thanks!
Wearing a mask, OUTSIDE...omg...
Are you just turning your shoulders on the back swing then trying to hit the outside of the ball on the downswing.
Even though it's reliable, this swing requires a lot of upper body rotation and needs a stronger body in order to hit far. I am old now and have to change to a more hand and arm type swing.
@@jkissgolf thanks for the reply I will try this out tomorrow
What a great swing,i hope you are still swinging the club this way 👍
Like his swing as much as Hogan's tbh
This man had the absolute perfection of the golf swing just great to watch
Almost as good as your golf swing.
Thank you.
Something you may not know: I got to see Sam Snead back in the late 80's when the Legends Tour got started. I happened to be standing near where he hit his drive, and he left himself with a difficult shot. When he came up, I offered a word of encouragement and he just looked up and GLARED at me!! I was startled to say the least, but I learned later that he viewed the golf course as his enemy and he would not be intimidated. So while his manner looked relaxed, it included a degree of anger, or "cool-mad" as he once said. BTW - he pulled off the next shot.....
do you stil fade the ball...looks like you come over the top slightly. I use 10 fingeer with power ful draw for irons. you need a more shallow awing so move your ball pos back closer to mid stance and swing that right arm afgeessively out to the right to 2pm
No, my ball flight is straight or slightly draw. In my own case, I'll try my very best to avoid the move you mentioned, otherwise I'll hook like crazy...
Beautiful tempo, you look like you really stay behind the ball especially with the driver
Sam was one of the most flexible golfer ever, he could high kick over 7ft, his left hand could get insanely high at the top while maintaining a straight left elbow. John Daly went further but with a completely bent elbow.
He was double jointed as they say I read about it years ago
Mahrty says ur shut at the top 😂🤣
looks a bit like Marcus Edblad swing,,( which I like too), he has ball back a bit, uses trail hand for power and swings at 1.00oclock. he mentions George too. You look like you have good contact,, Just would like to see how the ball flies.
to me his hands didn't look passive,, swing looked more like a push swing , right hand dominate ,, every similar to what marcus edblad teaches,, it works for me too.
Pretty big, strong, athletic guy. I saw him play in 1974, age 62. He could still hit it well, very well.
Nice job . If you watch the george knudson instruction video which is on UA-cam he explains things in a very simple manner . I think it is simple to follow . The main point in his video that he stressed most importance on was balance . So I take it is try to swing in balance make it a priority number one in the swing it will take care of a lot of the swing for you . I love the his idea of address the ball on the toe of the golf Club and the straighting of the arms at point of contact brings the centre of clubface to the ball . I see this important detail in your swing also . Keep going
Thanks for your comments. I bought Knudson's book years ago, it's one of my swing Bible...
Your videos are such a joy to watch - your last video where you did a chip shot - I hope you make a whole vid of that!
Thanks for watching.
Having watched some of your swings throughout the years, I really liked this one.
Thanks for watching. The reason why I need to change my swing is mainly because of my body condition. Well, the older I am, the weaker my body will be. I tend to use way more body "big muscle" before. Now, I wish I can hit a golf ball just by my hands.Lol...
Interesting to see how your swing has changed over the years

Can you show your grip? Think I read you hang your pinky off the club. Been trying that helps me from over swinging
Thanks for watching. There is nothing special on my grip, it's pretty neutral grip. I switched between overlapping and ten fingers from time to time depending on how I feel at that moment.
Why do you set up with the club resting several inches behind the ball?
I learn it from Moe. The idea of pre-turn works well sometimes.
I like your homemade swing and I bet it works!
Did you have a specific swing thoughts on taking it inside during backswing, or is standing with right foot slightly behind is enough?
I don't quite think too much on back swing. I focus more on the follow through.
He never changed his swing because it worked so well.
You are a machine. Beautiful controlled yet powerful swing. Love it.
Thank you!
It would be nice if there was shot tracer so we can see the flight of each shot.
I want one too. Lol.... The normal shot is draw.
Accuracy aside, you seem to make solid contact with every club. I'm very jealous.
Thank you...😅😅
what is the piece of music?
Great swing my dad saw him play in New Zealand in the 1960s
