Hurricane Helene relief for a few days around Swannanoa
Volunteered for a few days in western North Carolina around Swannanoa, Black Mountain, Fairview, Garren Creek and other surrounding areas. I wish I could've done more but will plan on coming back in the near future for other volunteering efforts.

Volunteering in North Carolina
Переглядів 62521 день тому
I've decided to take a week and provide assistance in North Carolina anyway that I can. The Mountain communities were good to me throughout my thru hike, so I heard a calling to give back. For the Walk to End Alzheimer's that I am participating in coming up, October 19th, the link for donations is: act.alz.org/site/TR?fr_id=17746&pg=personal&px=23898682 Thank you!

Dude are you still down south? We have a southern home near Greenville SC. Black Mountain and Chimney Rock are two of our favorite places in NC. You might remember I'm the one who brought you to Gorham NH with the blueberry pie. You're awesome man for helping out

@@chrishastings9926 Of course I remember, like it was yesterday haha! But I came back to Mississippi yesterday. It was crazy the things I saw over there. I made the tiniest of dents but with how bad it was, I felt helpless. But many people from all over came to those areas and were getting things done. The people.

@@darrensoutdooradventures thanks so much for all you did for them. The devastation was extremely overwhelming for all involved. It's so incredible to see our people come together like they have for so long. Our hearts are so broken especially for Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and Bat Cave among us many others.

Also if you ever want to get away hiking here in SC, the Foothills Trail is a 76 mile hike considered similar to the AT, not as challenging but still a beautiful hike. We could give you a home base to start from as we're not far from the trail head.

Is there a way to get in pump trucks for the sewage and potable water tankers so people can refill water containers?

    • @darrensoutdooradventures

@@mjones1122 I'd have to say that there is, from what I've seen. There's a lot of power company trucks, tree services and I have come across a water tanker in Swannona NC. As far as who to get in touch with about coordinating is anybodys guess because everything is going on everywhere where I'm at, but a lot of waiting as well.

There's a whole lot more to the Mahoosuc Range than Mahoosuc Notch but no one ever seems to talk about it. The Whites are tough and beautiful but the Mahoosucs are gnarly and interesting. June is the best time when all the flowers are in bloom up there, just in case you return to hike them again. 🙃

All the sub peaks of Mt. Adams have been formally named. As a thru hiker, you don't go over any of the Adams Family. But as you come up to them, they are Sam Adams (off to the left), Abigail Adams (right on Lowe's Path), Adams proper and John Quincy (JQ) is the little knob on the shoulder closest to Madison.
