I’m currently working in a hospital as a psych CNA. I’m working on my ADN/BSN as we speak, then I’ll be a psych RN. Then I’ll get my MSN-PMHNP. When the DNP becomes mandatory, I will handle things accordingly

I enjoy your videos, but I disagree with this opinion. The school you go to matters. If you are assessing, diagnosing, and treating/prescribing medications for illnesses, you need the best possible education to ensure you are ready for that. A for-profit school with open book tests and limited to no admissions standards does not provide the rigor for effectively treating patients. Myself and others in my family would deny treatment from a graduate of Walden or another fully online school that many consider a diploma mill. Our health is too important to be in the hands of people who don't have the adequate training. Thanks for your video and I wish you well.

No, you need good psych nurse and or overall psych inpatient/outpatient experience before taking on that walk/journey. Psych is a calling not to be confused with the "BOOKSMART" side of medical care. Psych is more of an ART than it is an actual science. As a Nurse Practitioner and a well known NP with amazing psych background/experience- not to toot my own horn but if you really want to excel at anything get your feet wet first.

Definitely update us in October! I'm a PMHNP & I took my first locums assignment fresh out of school. I work in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient. It's an ongoing assignment. I work remote 3 weeks out of the month & in office 1 week out of the month. I would have been there 1 year this coming February. I really want to get inpatient experience to be well rounded, but I know most locums may want previous in patient exp., but I have zero. I'd be open to coming to that facility over the summer next year if you deem it a good place to work. I want to learn more & I can only see so much in outpatient.

It’s hard to live with strangers especially when you need to destress and get prepared for the next day. The company needs you list your demands and don’t settle for nothing less. Your mental health matters.
