    Too bad you didn’t enjoy Wuthering Heights. That’s a book I can’t remember if I read in school or not but have not felt any inclination to pick it up either. As I’m trying to read some more romantic style classics I’m finding I don’t enjoy them. Love the sound of the rainy background! You’ll need to read something uplifting after reading that gloomy book,haha! Maybe a cozy Japanese book?

    • @livriomer
      @livriomer 12 годин тому

      The problem is that it's not even romantic, it's kind of idiotic love and the ending was not even rewarding to bear all the drama. Well, not all was bad, but at the end you don't feel reading a nice book. Oh, yeah, sure you mean those sad japanese books heheh. I think I have found happiness by watching japanese and korean dramas instead, at least the ones which are funny hehe.

    Great progress! So many books you’ve read. I’m failing miserably at my big books and feel like I just want to read something short and cozy instead. I was hoping you would not agree with almost everyone else and wind up liking the Dune series, oh well I guess it just doesn’t have the same magic as the initial books by Frank. Good to see a video from you. I had wondered about how your reading was going. It’s so difficult to get the right recording situation sometimes.

      @@thepapertraveler1122 it's like I want to read a suitable boy and I don't want at the same time heheh. I found more interesting and rewarding to read short books. So for now, I'm ok with that. Ah yes Dune series have good things, but at the certain moments or books the story become pointless and boring. One thing I didn't mention is that the 7th book has a space opera element which I really enjoyed and the plot gets much interesting with a specific ability of some characters. I can't say so much so I don't spoil. And about recording, it's so hard. I have many ideas to record but it's almost impossible to do it with the noise. For instance my videos about the book of tobit and cybertech alley podcast need to have a quiet ambience, because one is religious and the other is supposed to happen at night while raining. How can I do that if from sunrise to sunset you will constantly hear motorcycles passing by? heheh so yes, it's really hard hehe

Also, good news, I just found out yesterday another booktuber will be joining us-Kathi from the channel Nerdy Kathi. I read Hitchhikers Guide several years ago and although everyone seems to love the book, I thought it was just ok. It does have a lot of humor that starts out great but I felt it was trying too hard as the story progressed, but I’m in a huge minority. I’ll be interested in hearing how you like the book. Have space... is from 1958, so it's one of those old scifi classic. Nominee for Hugo award. the only reason why I read it hehe. I don't think it's known. But I liked it. it was simple, engaging and I would say that one main theme is friendship. That's is why it reminded me of those 90's movies like The Sandlot, where you can see the friendship. Nothing to do, but have you watched a movie called Crater, which is a story about some children living in the moon?. It's a nice family movie. Oh yes, Dune... well it feels like that story is stretching and it's not so interesting anymore. Well, I hope you can read at least one scifi book, but I understand that there are always other books to read first. hehe

You are right, Summer time is in youtube, it makes me want to watch it again, hehe, I watched it so many years ago. OH nothing to do, but I watched the other 2 movies of Kaiji. And they are not that good, they are ok, but the 1st movie is the best representation of the society and how we do in relationship with money. I can mention more. But I tried to suggest different type of series. There are plenty of series and movies that are really great. Usually I go for comedy. If you want a bit more of detective and mystery, then Trick. Which is silly , and a bit creepy and dark. Some people suggest the actress in this series as a good actress to play the role of the woman in the book 1Q84, well if there was a movie. And I don't know if you have read the book or watched the movie Battle Royale? I'm not sure if it's a thriller, I think so but it's a bit bloody. I did not enjoy the movie starring Nicole Kidman but really enjoyed the HBO series and felt it helped explain the Dust concept better than the books did. As far as the story of this novella goes I actually enjoy it very much, even before I got to those surprises at the end but those actually made me almost weep with what consequences it brings to whole Cantos. All I know it's that there are two stories: "Remembering Siri", and "The Death of the Centaur", which are part of a book called "Prayers to broken stones" by Dan Simmons. Hope you enjoy your April plans! I’ve not read either of those books but will be interested in hearing your thoughts on them. I had not done a paint by numbers kit for many years but on my birthday outing with my daughter in February we both bought a kit to paint.Mine is not as detailed as yours but will still be a challenge for my aging eyes. I’m hoping to work on it some over the Summer months.

I'm not expert in the genre, so I can't suggest books, but Perdido Street station was a good book, and it is more steampunk than cyberpunk. Search for 92 steampunk books in Readthistwice page. And about 1Q84, I think I haven't done any video specifically for that book, as far as I can remember. I might have mentioned it once, but I am not sure. I read it long ago, and I think I created a video for that book, but in a different channel that I don't use anymore. It's definitely an experience indeed. Some people don't like certain scenes, but as a fan of any japanese drama, movie or book (well, most of them) I did enjoy the book. oh by the way, try to find the music that is mentioned in the book, like classic orquestra, it will help the experience hehe

I enjoyed the stories, but I didn't like the ending. I wanted it something different, and Yes, it can be a bit too much explicit at certain moments in terms of adult content. OH, the second book of Dune is not bad, it is just... not too much is going on. Except until the end. OH, but I can say is that I have finished reading the 3rd book for this month of march, and I found it way better. I actually enjoyed it more than the first book.

I’m glad to hear about those other science fiction books. That’s a genre I’ve not read as much of in the last year and hoping to tackle a few that are more of a speculative sci-fi. The problem with the book is that the author does a retelling of the story, and changes the role of Jesus, Mary, Joseph and John the Baptist in a way that is degrading and insulting, which can affect those who are believers. Oh, I didn't know that the Host has a second book. I feel it was ok, a bit YA for me, but it was easy to read and entertaining. I just finished Dune, and I enjoyed it much more than the first time I read it. But I am intrigued to know what's going to happen next. Dune is one of those books I said I was definitely going to read in 2024 but yet here it is mid November and I have so many to still finish first. Oh well, looks like it’s going to rollover onto another year. I didn’t realize there were so many books in the series. I purchased the first book and found the others up to Chapterhouse Dune at a library sale years ago but ,like you, I heard they weren’t as good as the first book. I used the image with all the ranks for the first video, and I didn't even notice that hehe, my bad. just when I was creating the chart I used now, it was when I noticed that tier hehe. I haven't played that game in a year, and ranked games in maybe 2, so I don't know all the new changes. So now I fix it , so instead of 25, it is 20, and so on. About Dune, I am not sure, but I think those 8 books are in the main series, because the latest books were written by the son only. Oh I am making progress with the challenge, but I forgot to mention in the video, that , while I am working on the computer, I am using the audio book feature. I prefer to read more than listening, but it helps while I am doing things, and if I want to read big books also, I need to speed up the progress. That is why I plan to read 5 books before reaching iron. mm I don't know what to think about the Golden compass, at least I go with zero knowledge about the book, so I hope to get surprised. When I started my channel years ago I was reading a lot of YA books but now I have a lot of trouble reading them. I occasionally find one I enjoy but for the most part I don’t. Historical fiction is also another category I was reading years ago,especially WW2 fiction,but the market burned me out on them. As far as Science Fiction, I noticed it has to be a certain kind, more along the lines of speculative fiction. I struggle with Hard science fiction but don’t mind if it’s not too heavy. Fantasy books I’m finding I don’t care for the heavy political type of fantasy but love the ones with quests or exploration of new worlds.
