Tips and tricks to finish drywall like a pro. I have been in drywall since 1996 and was a drywall hanger for a year. I then became a drywall finisher and mastered my trade. I both hand finish and machine finish. I have finished jobs as a crew leader as big as 60,000 sheets and many other jobs well over 1000. I have done patchwork, remodels, spec houses and custom homes. I now finosh mostly new housing and love it. I make videos for the newer finishers and anyone wishing to make their production faster and easier all the while producing a perfect finish with minimal blemishes. I hope you all enjoy and if you like what you see please subscribe as I love to teach the art of drywall.

Jeffrey Dahmer using the Mudrunner💀🔥
I would like to to assist to your classes, and learn how to run the bazooka for the inside corners
Great video thanks bud
Excellent job my man.
hey, im interested in all these stuff for drywall finishing.. just starting my own firm and looking after my tool setup investment not to make mistakes that costs big time.. so performance performance performace and reliability is what im looking for. some say Level 5 , others DeWalt, then TapeTech and so on.. need automatic taper , flat boxes 10,12 inch. corner filler and sander .. have any recommendations ?
so im barley going to start tape finishing an im working under the table so im learning still an you explained so detailed an it helped me a lot it would make feel great if you replied
Thanks for the info Leo
Thanks dude you the man I don’t have a pump and the dewalt corner tool with pump is considerably cheaper so
so i just started using this bazooka and it started to get jammed a lot the spinning wheel thing felt to tuff to turn
Thanks
Hello I use a flusher do I have to put a lot of présure on it?
Keep your shirt on Dude
Terrible
lighten the amount of plaster being dumped into the joint. you’re going back to the box 4-6 times for one room??? lol
Hey man, great work! I appreciate your videos, thank you. I'm trying to tape now and keep messing up seems very difficult. Any plans for new videos?
i think if you know how to run the tools you dont need a helper to hold your angles, you need to lock that back wheel to the angle
Tape tech and Ames are very efficient
I had the same on my level 5. Also my tape advance was ripping the tape. I’m gonna mill a shaft with rubber pad instead of the needle to see if it works better. I still like it better than the TapeTech.
I might buy a level 5 bazooka so what do you recommend to help? Are you still having issues
I need a helper like yours 👍
We run a Dewalt Mudshot. Same concept but less loving parts. Just press the head into the angle and it pumps the mud out.
Thanks, there’s not a lot of guys who have experience with the Mudshot. How long is it? Can you break it down to make it smaller for travel. I have the Tape Tech Road case and would like to carry it in there with the others. Also, how many times do you run the corners? Just once? Thanks for the help.
@@KevinsDisobedience I'll measure it on monday but I'm guessing it's around 4.5 foot and comes with a removable 18 inch extension handle. As far as coating we run a 3 inch angle head just as a plow to glaze when we tape, then we run them only once with 3.5 head and we've never had to coat them twice. We run tapetech angle heads. I love it man it's one of the best machines we ever bought. I don't see many people running them either but I definitely recommend it.
@@KevinsDisobedience also they sell an outside corner applicator that slicks the mud on the corner to put you paper faced bead on. We never even use our bead hopper anymore the mudshot replaced that too lol. And it's much easier and less mess.
Thanks for the info. I’ve been running compound tubes and flushers for years, and haven’t been completely satisfied. The bazooka and the flat boxes do exactly what I need them to do, but I’ve always hated how hard the corner boxes were to push at 9’, so I moved to flushers. When you glaze your tape do you just run the angle head on a pole? My main concern with the Dewalt is that there is no way to glaze without adding mud. That’s what I want is a run it once system. I find with the flushers if I try and cover the tape in one go, I get a hairline crack down the center where it leaves too much mud. No problems like that? Still do your three ways by hand, no?
@@KevinsDisobedience yep we just glaze with the head on a pole to tape. We only run the angles once with the mudshot and they come out perfect. Never had any cracks the angle head leaves a nice tight skim. For the corners I usually just run the head right into the corner and it leaves just enough mud to pick them with a 5 or 6.
👍👍👍👍👍
how thin you got your mud?
Yes.
Have you used or do you know anyone who had used the Dewalt Mudshot? Apparently you dont need to twist the handle. You just apply light pressure and mud comes out. Trying to decide which one I want to buy. Thanks
We run the mudshot. Same concept just less moving parts. It works awesome I'd definitely recommend it. We've coated miles and miles of angle with no problems.
I used to have one of these. Only thing is you cant really go very fast with them. They are easy to run but as far as production they are super slow
I have one works well
How thick do you mix the box mud.
Oh, Level 5. I have exact the same problem. You can check knife feeder. It may be, after cut the knife not exits from paper's way a little.
I might buy a level 5 bazooka so what do you recommend to help? Are you still having issues
@@GraceAboundsAll just do not. Pay more, but do not buy a tool assembled in China. No level5, no dewalt (it seems it is another name for level 5) and no Asgad (yes, it Tapetech's child company, but don't be a tester. It may be Asgard also produce tools in China)
@@akerka3 what brand you recommend
I cannot recommend because my experience is limited. I use Level5 taper only, and just plan to change it, when the current bazooka completely will become a wreckage. My next will be Tapetech (by any price). You can check "the drywall doctor" youtube channel: the man can't say exactly how many ears he uses his one. It's impress. Also I'm looking on the device from TapePro (BlueLine in USA) for its head which easy to remove for daily cleaning. But there is no many reviews about this trademark. So my choice is Tapetech. A have their MudRunner and love its quality. It is very important which kind of steel or aluminum the factory uses. About Level5 I can say, their aluminum is crumbling because of mud like decayed teeth. In tube of taper after year of use appear micro hole just because of inner pressure. And once again I bought it terrible assembled, with bended parts and malfunctioning.
@@akerka3 I got columbia and I am really happy with it good I didn't go with level 5
Hi Leo great demo ,is that the max speed it goes or were you holding back for the video ?
That's the one I plan on buying
Good
Great job very informative
Slick video . Keep them coming
Awesome job .. very informative
Awesome video great job. What size is the angle head you use to wipe down the tape.
Looks like a 2.5
Awesome video. Keep them coming
Great video. Keep making more videos. Thanks again
En France il y a un super formateur. Le jointeur dromois. Réussite obligatoire. Belle personne vraiment. Pas de stress il est la là pour vous .
Thanks . Your Video Helpful because I got same Brand newly
Good clase
Not bad, dude. Good tutorial, but you should maybe explain the purpose of priming the wheel, and also how to engage the clutch release... I haven’t used Level5 tapers yet...how are they working for you?
Lmao! You suck!
Robert Quigley he said he was still learning, give the man a break lol
Robert Quigley let’s see your video.. let’s see if you can rock it like Leo did..
@@Bob-n2d Wtf you talking about rocking it like he did? Man just cause he bought a bazooka doesnt mean he knows wtf hes doing. I would have her on the floor rolling and glazing behind me as fast as she could so piss on you man this video is trash!
Robert turdbag.. sure tough guy your the greatest.. if your so awesome let’s see your video.. if not your just all hot air
Level5 bazooka is a good bazooka?
What's your thoughts on level five bazooka?
Dam I'm looking for a real pro to tell me if it's worth saving 600 with the level5 over one of the ogs? Did you end up getting the level5
@Jeremy Salisbury level 5 tube is nice, i actually prefer its deaign, as long as you take care of it. The angle and roller handles are terrible, boxes/ angle head work fine but are kind of finicky. Pump works good as long as you clean it regularly, but made of cheap Chinese metal you can chop into it with a sharp 6" knife like pewter. Id say level 5 is worth it if you take care of them. If i was planning on running them 40 hours or more a week for ten years id get tapetech., but level 5 works just fine
I usually run 3 and then 4 we don’t wipe behind them
i have the same problem, i guess u have to keep the trackway for the tape clear of all dry and wet mud. ima buy a columbia predator sawed off bazooka soon, looks promising
I might buy a level 5 bazooka so what do you recommend to help? Are you still having issues
@@GraceAboundsAll me being on a budget I bought level5 boxes and pump but when it comes to a bazookah I went with columbia, I heard from many guys that is common issues of paper jam just level 5 has more of them , so if you still haven't got it save 2 or 3 hundreds more but go for columbia or tapetech they are in a same league
thanks for uploading this video. Shere isn't a single video on youtube where the actually give you a specific amount of water, it's all oh about this much or about this consistency is what you want
shawn you're welcome. It is pretty consistent even with USG. Finish on my friend. Hopefully you will follow my channel. Is there any specific thing you would like to see in a video?
I am subscribed. just trying to get the hang of the bazooka. I am good on the flats and inside corners from floor to ceiling but wall to ceiling and the ceiling joints not so much. I think I am pushing to hard on the it and it is dragging the tape which leads to it falling off behind me. I am going to practice with it tomorrow on a couple of bedrooms and a kitchen.
shawn, roll the bazooka a little bit to get tape out about 3 inches. Then flip the wheel out so it pushes tape into corner. Bazooka will drag it a bit, but you can cut it a little long and pull it back into corner. I typically do all my ceiling to wall angles first then do my up and downs. This way I can be assured that the tape is tight into the lid.
Slick indeed!
I thought I was the only one who held the pan between they're legs, I never used a tape holder either
Regicide 79 I use a 14 inch pan and I find it doesn't fit pan holders.
Looks like it runs smooth. How hard is to pump the mud in, is it comparable to a bazooka?
It is similiar to the bazooka when you have thin mud. With thicker mud it takes a little more effort.
Thanks for the info!
looks like a nice rig...a lot of people are wondering if u can go any faster with it? nice work too btw !!!
Yes it can go faster, but there are alot of factors that play into that. If you are running very thin mud and run it wide open, you will fly, as you will have to just to keep it from loading agle to much. I run mud a little thicker than bazooka mud. I like to just go 1 speed so that there are minimal touch ups. The example was the house I took the video in. It is a 380 sheet 2 story house with 12 foot cathedral and 10.5 foot garage. 9 ft ceilings main floor 8.5 in basement. There were a lot of angles. I ran both sides of angles from 12:30 pm to 4. I can handle 100 sheets of angles an hour.
Why do you use a different 4 to coat your angles? I see that your knife has square edges but I can't find any 4 inch knives that are squared off like yours.
Chad Ison, when I hand finish, the tape burns my taping knife and causes grooves. My finishing blade never sees tape only mud. I use hyde 4" knives. I am sorry for late reply, I never received notification from youtube.
Leo Bouchard thanks for the tip I honestly never thought of that. I try to find knives with square edges cause it helps clean off any mud that rolls on the other side of the angle
Chad my finishing 4" has filed itself on the angles. The mud will wear the blade to how you hold it against the angle and eventually it will cut all mud off other side.
Leo Bouchard I had to file mine a bit by hand. I can finish pretty good but I'm a full time carpenter so my knives don't get used enough to break themselves in just by using them. I'll have to get another 4 and just use it for coating and see if it helps. I hate seeing guys finish corners wth 5 or 6 inch knives because it's unnecessary sanding since the corner only needs finished 2-3 inches out. My biggest problem with corners is the mud starts flaking back out when I run my knife down the angle, especially when I do the 2nd side
Ur a damn good finisher bro I'm a lefty myself n my technique is almost identical to urs I also ran machines but I prefer hand finishing if anything run out butts n flats with a box angles by bead by hand I cut my mud taping n coating angles same exact way keep up the clean work n teaching guys the right way
john weil I try. Been finishing a long time. My average house now is 250 to 300 boards. I have converted back to machines since December.
Thank you for compliment.
