Why do you use a different 4 to coat your angles? I see that your knife has square edges but I can't find any 4 inch knives that are squared off like yours.
Chad Ison, when I hand finish, the tape burns my taping knife and causes grooves. My finishing blade never sees tape only mud. I use hyde 4" knives. I am sorry for late reply, I never received notification from youtube.
Leo Bouchard thanks for the tip I honestly never thought of that. I try to find knives with square edges cause it helps clean off any mud that rolls on the other side of the angle
Chad my finishing 4" has filed itself on the angles. The mud will wear the blade to how you hold it against the angle and eventually it will cut all mud off other side.
Leo Bouchard I had to file mine a bit by hand. I can finish pretty good but I'm a full time carpenter so my knives don't get used enough to break themselves in just by using them. I'll have to get another 4 and just use it for coating and see if it helps. I hate seeing guys finish corners wth 5 or 6 inch knives because it's unnecessary sanding since the corner only needs finished 2-3 inches out. My biggest problem with corners is the mud starts flaking back out when I run my knife down the angle, especially when I do the 2nd side
Thanks for the info Leo
