Getting to Sehlabathebe National Park was not as easy as we thought but it was one of the most beautiful experiences we had in Lesotho. Rural roads were scenic and interesting and the people warm and friendly.
Lesotho Dec 23, Part 2 - Sani to Bush camp

After driving up the Sani Pass and spending some time at the top we continued into Lesotho. Near Mokhotlong we stopped to watch a game of football and cheered the players. Shortly thereafter we turned south onto a gravel road which we hoped would get us to the Sehlabathebe National Park, but the going was slow. We loved the journey and just wild camped next to the road that night, to continue t...

We decided to break away for a week to LESOTHO, the mountain Kingdom and loved every minute. We took the back roads from Jhb down to Geluksburg from Harrismith, then the gravel road from Winterton to Himeville and slept at Sani Backpackers before climbing a very wet Sani Pass!

I love this "old" video 😅 however it reminds me found memories in similar situations of my days in East Africa, but far too many tourists in that area Serengeti, N'gorongoro, Mara, Tsavo, Amboselli... These lions were subadults from the same litter most probably, so used to people. They must be fully grown by now.🦁Botswana seems ideal for safari too..

Bad, poorly maintained rural road. Lots of HiAce taxis up and down... And during the school holidays - plenty tourists too 😢 Beautiful scenery though. However, I will rather do it in my microlight 😊

Many many years ago when we did the Otter Trail, we got a photo of a waterfall going up. The pathway was quite close to the edge of the cliff so it was just as well the wind was blowing inland. It was a hectic wind.

Interesting, I drive thru Lesotho on 1980, in a Citroen. At that time we saw a lot of erosion of the land and the road blocks were guys in camo with ak47’s. Cheers Warren

@@jackiecilliers my passenger found the ‘road block /border guys’ a little disconcerting . We were fish out of water for sure . We were driving from CT to PE , wasn’t much alternative in our route and with the gas restrictions at that time a long detour was not practical . Fortunately the Citroen had good mileage! Sad about erosion Cheers Warren

I too have just watched all 5 at once, whilst mostly just listening to SA - PAK cricket on the TV … at 5am from the Bahamas. My wife and I were fortunate to have 5 nights in Western Kgalagadi in July this year, would love to do this Eastern section so really good research, thank you. Very well narrated and edited, I know the effort involved. The soul needs to be reset and readjusted more often in these difficult times, and there are few better ways than a week in real life in the KTFP. My 2024 planning progressing well. Thanks J & G.

Enjoyed your video. We are having a class reunion in January 2024 and one of our mates suggested this walk. We will be coming from Melbourne Australia. We had done the Camino de Santiago before Covid and I thought this will be doable. We are all 66-67 years old and it’s our 50 year reunion. Looking at that ladder I’m not so sure 😅😂. How did the grand parents do it or is there another route? Really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
