ARASA Brip (Songs) - Psalm 91 (K'rassa Version)
Переглядів 3332 роки тому
Although I have been singing since I was a baby, I never necessarily considered myself a "singer". I use the sân fâyé (word sound power) of my voice to honor my ancestors as part of my spiritual practice. This is a song that I created by translating the lyrics of Psalm 19:14 into K'rassa (Balanta language) while playing over a Nyabinghi "heartbeat"/fundeh rhythm using my Conga. Psalms 19:14 is ...
ARASA MONTU ARTS: (Combat Form #1)
Переглядів 5752 роки тому
In traditional Eurasian mars(tial) arts, there are codified sets of movements called "forms" (kata in Japan).. In Afrikan Montu arts, we also have our own forms, but ours incorporate Montu movements from various Afrikan warrior dances and techniques from modern Afrikan combat systems like 52 Blocks and Capoeira. Here I am demonstrating my own personal form that I created using elements of the S...
ARASA MONTU ARTS: SíF KENH (FOOT WORK) 🦶🏿

This is footwork drill I created called: Fôt Mín" (All Steps). It incorporates rhythm via hand clapping (a traditional Afrikan practice for invoking fâíyé na wûlé (spiritual power). This helps one connect each step with a corresponding hand movement, thus training lower/upper-body coordination alongside fast-twitch leg muscles (both needed for physical combat). • 🎶: Ummalee - Fulani Chant Dance...

Abeni for this entry into the world of Balanta. I did my African Ancestry and this is where it is leading me. So to learn something like this, gives me a wonderful feeling inside. Abeni!
Congrats on your MatriClan and PatriClan results! 🇬🇼🇸🇱 I’ve recently took African Ancestry on my mother’s side of the family and found out I share genetics with Tuareg people in Mali 🇲🇱 and did my PatriClan test and 23andMe hinted that I share very close genetics with the Ambundu people in Angola 🇦🇴 and see if they are consistent.
Good news! While I can accept that it didn’t trace back to Angola 🇦🇴 as I hoped, I am pleased to be part of the Fula community living in Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇼 today on my paternal side of the family.
The most American thing a saw. HAMA swordfight in football gear. ❤ You could use HEMA gear, it's safer and you can use steel swords
Would get absolutely destroyed in the Octogan.
Where can you learn this?
Do you have an website to purchase your book?
Yes, its available on the B'jah B'rassa tier of my patreon: patreon.com/rasaroots
I like the way he got the Sofa saber set up. However, I like the spear better👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻!!!!! That's what makes me a unique Sofa Warrior today and forever. FBA all the way, everyday🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻!!!!! Yera💧.
This is excellent. You've done an excellent job in finding your roots.
❤THAnks🌹 🌹💁For Sharing this video 🌹 ♥️ I have many Haitain Grandchildren 💁 & I train in African Martial Dance for their confidence😊As well as my Own🌻🙇♂️

You don’t know how happy I am I found your channel brother. I just recently found out through African Ancestry I have a 100% match through my maternal line that I descend from the Balanta people of Guinea Bissau. My last name is Williams as well.
Mr foreigner, I give you your flowers.
When I did the patriclan test on my maternal uncle it came back as the Balanta people in Guinea Bissau.
That sword is one of the Mande swords it’s a Mandinka Saber
I am a decendant of the Mali Empire and Kaabu Empire 💪🏾
Thanks for showing me of the Mande swords 😎💪🏾
Bai Fama Tame was the founder of the Temne people he was a Mandinka
My direct Father's paternal side is Guinea-Bissau. I had got my results from African ancestry.
I have a question. Does the book have also too Balanta Guinea name's like naming yourself in the Balanta-Guinea especially if your descendant?
I would say the father or mother of the top rock would be the Charleston which directly come from knocking and kicking from the Gullah Geechee traditions
Mama is Balanta-Guinea-Bissau…Daddy is Teke/Ateke People of Gabon! It’s said they were in the Bantu Migration!
This is muay thai lol
I am Fulani & Temne. Are Temne Abantu?
No, they're Niger-Congo
Please don't give up on this Project, this is so needed💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿🦋🙌🏿🌱
❤❤❤❤
The rhythm sounds like i'm at a black baptist church on sunday
It seems like a simple instrument but the coordination you need to do it is on drummer level, awesome!
Hi Domingus. I luckily met you long ago in Bissau Town and your 3 fantastic Musicians in maybe 2004 (?) and me and my jollah wife Hortance wehad a good time in that simple guesthouse for many days with plenty music, dancing and plenty beer and palmwine! Still have many fotos of this time (can send the to you) from you and your band in full artistic dress. Si lokke ban! Bagga bum boin!
I actually learned an african art that I was told was from the Sudan area. It's very old. I don't know how to spell it in its original language but the name sounds like "Cleo-pie". Its a direct predecessor to kung fu
Theres an old korean art called taekkkyeon that utilizes the same front triangle concept. Undoubtedly acquired this from african cukture
I'm Black American/FBA. Thanks for putting the truth of our ancient history on display. As a Sofa, this was great information. Swords are okay, but I/we don't use them. Instead, I/we use a spear and bow just like many of the Sofa did back in the day. For more modern weapons, I/we use submachine guns, pistols, and sniper rifles. That's what makes me a ancient and modern day Sofa (warrior). FBA all the way, everyday🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻!!!!! Yera💧.
Actually west Africa used swords, bow and arrow, and spear it was just Southern Africa that used spear and shield
I’m west African and I am a Vai Manding man decendant of the ruling class of the Mali Empire of the Mansa lineage Mande tribes used Manding swords such as the Mandinka Saber, the Toma sword and other sword Mande sword types
@@ceofromda517 I know that. Yera💧.
@@ceofromda517 And I'm a modern day Sofa (warrior). Nice to meet you. Yera💧.
@@fbawaterdragon4592 Nice to meet you too brother 💪🏾
Not bad the little Guy
So glad I found yet another channel about African culture Btw, just asking if I understood this right, the original Sofa sabers were straight but later on they got a curve because the blacksmiths were inspired by the French? I hope for a quick answer Anyways, I've actually seen a Sofa saber with a hilt and guard similar to European swords
Love the results, Black on Both Sides.
Hi Rasa, it's really nice, thank you for sharing this video. In the future, I must take the time to learn this montu art, Ginga.
Looks like ghetto muay thai

My favorite go to video, happy kwanzaa ! Momo kotho 🤎💙
Although I have no objections to this merger of styles, I have to point out that there is already a martial arts style called knocking and kicking that is in the American South that is hundreds of years old.
I just found out My Y DNA links back to the Balanta people of Guinea. Nevertheless, my paternal grand parent was the son of a slave merchant named Captain Rowan Hamilton Ward. This slave merchant must've not been fully caucASIAN: "It must not be forgotten that hundreds of thousands of Guinea Negroes were imported into Europe from 1440 to 1773 and that today not one of these pure blacks remains. Negro slavery lasted in England for 330 years (1442-1772). Where are all those hundreds of thousands of pure blacks now? Swallowed up by the white, some of whose descendants in the Southern States, boast of their pure Anglo-Saxon stock. It is a very great error to think of the Europeans as a pure white people". -Joel Rogers, '100 Amazing Facts About the Negro with Complete Proof:: A Short Cut to The World History of The Negro', 1934
