I am not hearing anyone on 224.096Mhz DAB in Northern Ireland and I do have an antenna attached as I have access to 174.928-239.200Mhz, actually the receiver is a TECHNICS STG-1000

I don't know how long the batteries last but most radiosondes shutdown 8 hours and 30 minutes after the computer on board detects it's falling. There's a burst timer on the sonde hub site when you click on the parachute along with the attitude and speed. I've seen it work on my first capture. It shut off at 8 hours and 30 minutes or so. Signed the guy from Chickasha in the video.

I have had a IC-7300 for a the past 5 years and in the city where I live I have lots of interfering signals. In sept 2022 I purchased a Yaesu FT-DX10 and WOW this radio is so quiet in my city. I can do things that we impossible with my 7300. I can pull a signals out closed to another with lots of noise no problem. My 7300 would alert me of overloads at times, were my FT-DX10 just handles and separates the signals My Yasue FT-DX10 has really made my armature radio local & DX contacts so enjoyable. The FT-dx10 is a amazing HF Radio. Yaesu really hit a home run with the FT-DX10.

I missed the beginning of this when it was live on Zoom. I wonder if KA5HFE remembers that Shakespeare themselves realized that fishin' poles made great antennas with a few extra parts? They still have a full line of antennas aimed at the boating community, including for CB and Marine HF.

Check out my test of Hermes Lite 2 SDR for really amazing -74 dB transmitted intermod distortion: ua-cam.com/video/vV4kfHf1AL4/v-deo.html With puresignal I get -49 dB PEP IM3 at 800W with LDMOS amp on 80 meters. Not bad for $250 radio! 73, KG4ODA.

This was a treat and brings back memories of a lot of my technical chops that have faded with lack of use. I still have all the lab gear but in the last 20 years, I have focused on pro audio equipment design and testing after a 25-year career in the recording industry. I moved from the US 21 years ago and was lucky enough to get a deal on shipping about 600 lbs of test equipment 9000 miles. Currently, I have only a K2 Elecraft and Kenwood TS-50s and living in the city center of an RF Noise explosion so most of my operating is battery operation when out in the woods at the country cabin during the summer with wire antennas. This talk really got the RF testing juices flowing again and do some experimenting. Rob is a treasure and a legend in performance testing as it applies to amateur radio.

I really enjoyed this video, Very informative! Thanks Rob Sherwood. I've been big into large wire beams on 40m. I do put out a big signal. :). Because of that I really want to get a new rig that has a clean transmitter and a clean amp. I was considering a SS amp now I'm not so sure. On my list to get an HF transceiver id the Anan 7000dle Mark II. Second is the FTDX-101d. One receiver spec I'm studying is Blocking. So the FTDX-101D has a much better blocking number than the Anan 7000dle. I wonder f Ill notice any difference? Another comment: I wonder how the VHF spec on the IC-9700 vs the new IC-705 will be?
