LOW WATER CARNAGE
With guiding trips I haven't had a rod in my hands much lately. I got my chance and the Reds didn't disappoint! Unfortunately I bumped my camera into a bad position and I missed some amazing footage but still got plenty of action down.

Post tropical storm fishing for Reds. I was worried that the huge amount of freshwater would push the Reds closer to the ocean. When I arrived the water was tea colored yet clear. I quickly figured out the Reds were there in force and it was about be a great day!#fishing #nedshrimpz #shimano #nasci #redfish #saltwaterflyfishing #inshorefishing

FLY (IN THE SURF)
Переглядів 1795 місяців тому
The conditions were not good for surf fishing The Gulf was stirred up from a tropical storm for the first few days, a huge discharge of freshwater from the 500 year storm and really poor water clarity. I got on a little bite for an hour or so one day but that was after checking 5 different beaches. Maybe next year! #snookonthefly #flycasting #flyfishing

Nice video 👌 Just wanna know, if the clear tip coil when u fish the cold Water ? Ore did it just do fine ?
@vatosssssssssss thanks for watching. The clear tip is fine in cold water. Really nice line for sure. I find myself fishing the all clear Striper Mainstream as my main coldwater line. You have to get used to a full intermediate line in regard to picking it up for the next cast. Since the whole thing sinks I pick it up to recast with less line out. I just love an all clear line and that Striper Mainstream is a rocket of a line. I'm editing a cold weather Redfish video now featuring the Striper Mainstream.
Thanks for the info ❤️ Will love to see a video of the striper mainstream 🤩
@vatosssssssssss there's one on my channel. ua-cam.com/video/TaBWcUFf04M/v-deo.htmlsi=Yx-JArjd5KJdGVNG
Cool video. I have so Much problem with the memory on the line. Did u have the same ?
Cortland is not my favorite brand. I found better performance from Monic, Scientific Angler and Rio for all clear line. They tend to have less memory issues and stay slick where I found this one almost became chalky and gritty. Thank you for watching!
Oustanding catch and nice video. I just Subscribed to your channel and keep on fishing! 🐟🎣ua-cam.com/video/qjXi07gMKiU/v-deo.html
I strictly fish salt water with a 2 handed 9wt switch rod. I run 500-600 grain shooting heads. How well would one of these line shooting with my application. I see they have a 12wt line 510 grain, I would chop off the running line also and add for a loop connection. I like the airflo fist, but when it gets hot in louisiana, these lines don't perform the best.
I don't fish that kind of setup so I don't feel like I could give you an accurate assessment. I appreciate you reaching out though!
Fantastic Lady Rebels! Congratulations!🙏💞🇺🇸🏐👩🏻🦳
Terrific Teamwork Lady Rebels! All ready and all in👏🏻👏🏻🎉💖🏐🏐🏐🏐🏐🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
Tremendous Teamwork! Congratulations Lady Rebels🙏🎶🏐🎉🏐💞🇺🇸
Hi I've found this line half price on sail it looks a cracking fly line but I'm not often casting big flies the bigest I'm casting is a damsel would it still be good for this as its on sail and I'm considering it
@dannythorne9761 I'm sure it would be good for beating wind although certainly not needed for something that small. I think your delicate presentation would suffer with that heavy head. It would be a rocket though. What weight rod are you throwing a damsel on?
Love the Lady Rebels! What wonderful Senior Night. Great Team effort. Congratulations!🙏💞🎶👏🏻🏐🏐🏐🏐🏐🏐🏐💖
Great job!! I cannot wait to got with you.
Let me know when you're ready Brother!
Great day! Captain Brian is a full service guide. Very organized, clean boat, attention to detail type guy! He works extremely hard to put you on the fish. The ultimate goal is to make sure you have a great time! Thanks for making it a great day. I will be booking many more trips! Thanks brother!
Hey Brother it was a pleasure to have you aboard. I can't wait to show you a bunch of fish again. It was an absolute blast! Thank you for booking and thank you for your service!❤️
Great Teamwork Ladies! Gooo Lady Rebels!🙏💞🎶👏🏻👏🏻🏐🏐🏐🇺🇸🎉
Spinrod fishing in the shallows so fascinating!🎶
Looks great, but it's backwards. Shrimp swim the opposite direction.
@user-mn7hn3qs7v you may want to watch some videos of actual shrimp swimming. The can move both directions. If you look at Savage Gear, Voodoo Shrimp, Live Target Shrimp they also are all oriented to swim in this manner. I do tie a lot of shrimp flies that move in the other orientation. They also work great. Thank you for watching!
That has nice subtle movement. Looking good
Thank you Don!
Thx! Great review
Thanks for watching!
Wow, beautiful spot right there. Bet it was challenging cast into that wind, boy howdy it was howling. Thanks for sharing.
It is a pretty place. It's even more beautiful when you can see the snook cruising the beach. This is the first time in three years I didn't see them like usual.
Luar biasa... 5:28
Thank you my friend
Those were some nice Reds, pretty cool were you caught them at. Thanks for sharing and taking us along!
Thanks for watching Don!
I'm baffled on why you were messing around with the trolling motor so much When you lost that fish?
I was trying to get between the dolphin and the snook. My first priority was to make sure those little jerks didn't eat him. The snook was on a little shallow flat that had a channel next to it. After I initially kept him from getting in the mangroves I didn't put the heat on him too much again till I got close to him. I didn't want to pull him in the deeper water where they could get to him. The snook there always drop off that flat into the channel at the end of the fight to make a last stand once they realize the mangroves are no longer an option. I'd rather lose the snook than have him eaten.
Thank you for watching!
How would you compare it to quick shooter xp??? I like xp i just got outbound short floating i wouldnt mind adding a 3rd line to my quiver. .... mind you i fish costal bridges and urban enviroments i mostly use spey cast techniques rarely am i over head casting
I have never used XP so o can't compare. I have been curious about XP myself. I am really into all clear lines more so I ended up using the Striper Mainstream more. I fished the Outbound 1 time. If the Mainstream was a full 100 feet it would be one of my favorite lines ever. The Outbound has just been sitting in the box. If you need a 10wt I'd sell it for 60 bucks shipped. It does cast great but I have tremendous confidence in the all clear lines so I tend to fish them.
Nice looking snook, other fish that broke off must have been nice as well. Those dolphin were looking for some easy food. Thanks for sharing.
I was glad they didn't get him, I'd have been sick! I hate those things.
That's some serious power right there!
Indeed, that drag was TIGHT and he was still peeling it off! I'd bumped the leader up to 80 from 60 after I got broken off!
What size fly line is that and rod weight?
They are both 10 wt although I fish it a lot on my 8wt. It bombs it too!
Great video again!
Thank you Brother!
Great video, beautiful day out there as well. Those were some good-looking Reds. Always neat to see the manatees going about their business. Thanks for taking us along on the adventure.
You're welcome Don!
Are you feeding line on the false casts? I have the outbound short on a 8wt predator and I’m lucky to get 40’-60’.
I only feed line til I get the complete head out of the rod. Are you coming to a hard stop on the back cast and letting the line unroll completely before beginning your forward stroke and haul? I'm assuming you're double hauling.
@@lowcountrytobackcountryins3049 Nice review! If you are only carrying the head of the fly line which I think is 30' on the backcast, then you are shooting 60-70' of line? thanks.
@cs1089 that's correct and thank you so much for watching!
Rio Premier Outbound Short Night Shift Fly Line at Trident looks promising
I saw their review. It does look interesting!
Thank you for making this video its easi way to cast net and learn it.
Thank you for watching and commenting! I wish you great luck with your fishing!
How sweet is that!!
It was really sweet for sure! Normally they spook when they get that close but she was FIRED UP!
Man, that fly has some good action! Fish should tear it up!
Thanks Don! I'm ready to get in front of something big!
Good review what make is the blue rod and reel 🎣🇮🇪👍🏻
The rod is a custom build by Mark Mckenna based on the CTS REVO blank. The reel is a Lamson Speedster S. I have reviews of several of the rods he has built for me on my channel. Thank you for watching! If you haven't already, like and subscribe as I am continually producing product reviews and fishing related content!
I just realized which reel you were actually asking about. It is a Lamson Litespeed M 10wt. It is an amazing reel!
@@lowcountrytobackcountryins3049 thank you for reaching out with a response 👍🏻 I looked them reels up their pricy but you pay for quality, I am looking for a new setup for sea trout & sea bass here in Ireland. 🎣 tight lines
Cool! I'm Irish American. My last name is Ballagh!
Hi there I just got my sage payload do you recommend this line for my new rod ?. I'm very much fishing for Dorados dow here in Argentina
Hello Fabian! I don't have a Sage Payload but the rods I use are pretty similar in action. It is a tremendous line, especially if you need to cast large and wind resistant flies.
Sweet ride! I’m interested in ordering one. Do you have any insight on how this boat does in rough water/bigger swells? Looking for something that can fish flats as well as do light offshore work weather permitting.

Awesome vid
Thank you!
I’m considering this or a Simple Skiff. Would you have any insight as the differences?
@OPFlyFisher304 I am not familiar with a Simple Skiff
@OPFlyFisher304 this company will do my next build. They're good folks
Thank you, I appreciate you responding. I am def doing a tiller option.
Nice video, love that setup
Thank you! Mark puts together an awesome rig! Half the price of a high end production rod with more performance and the exact components I want!
Good review. Have you tried these vs the XTRATUF?
Yes, the XTRATUF seemed more clunky and less flexible. That's why I ended up with the Aftco boots.
@@lowcountrytobackcountryins3049 thanks. I’m ordering both to try. I wanna like the Aftco better as a fisherman. All their products are top notch!
Really nice! Looks like an eater size big ugly too.
Nice job. Beautiful footage
Thanks Buddy!
Are you in Beaufort SC ?
Very good info. Rio hit the spot with the outbound short lines. Throws like nothing else! Subscribed! Greetings from the Netherlands
It is a great line indeed! Greetings from the Lowcountry! It is a great line indeed! Thank you for subscribing! I have a field test on The two Rio lines that I am going to release soon. They performed very well on the water in cool temps!
Thanks a bunch ..im going to check the line video out!
Reds are such a nice-looking fish. Love their fight. I just subscribed to your channel for future content. Good luck man and tight lines.
Thank you some much for subscribing! More content on the way for sure. I have another trip I'm finishing up an edit on. What area do you fish?
@@lowcountrytobackcountryins3049 Massachusetts to New Jersey
Nice! You have a great striper fishery there don't you? My rodbuilder lives in Massachusetts.
@@lowcountrytobackcountryins3049 oh yeah. It's the Meca
@lowcountrytobackcountryins3049 who's your rod builder? GW Customs?
Some nice fish on a cold day!
It was definitely cold! Thanks for watching Don!
Appreciate demo. Under winter temperatures.
My smallie guide uses this a lot. I used it last summer.
I'm looking forward to slinging it at some Reds. I think the weather should be decent this weekend. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe. I have done and will continue to do product reviews and upload lots of fishing. If there is anything you are interested in featured in upcoming videos let me know.
U still on the wait list for a different skiff?
Yes, at some point I'll get Mel to build me a 169.
Thanks for doing this, shocked no one’s done these already.
Thank you for commenting Gordy! If you haven't already, like and subscribe. I'll be doing more!

LOVE THIS ACTION. I FISH SKINNY WATER DOWN IN SOUTHWEST LA. I LOVE RED FISHING. GOOD STUFF! THANKS FOR THE SHOW.
Thanks Anthony! I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Wow, that is wanting to go catch reds bad! HA HA! That fly even attracts sea gulls lol! Great fish on a nasty day, thanks for sharing!
I did want to go bad Don! The gulls were what drew me to the area. They were there feeding just like the Reds. They can be annoying as I've had them try to snatch my fly.
