QUILL GORDON Variation Fly Tying Tutorial | Dry Flies In Texas

Here is a little variation I tied up of a Quill Gordon. Using mainly materials from local stores such as Hobby Lobby and Walmart. This fly is very affective in the mornings for sunfish and bass here in College Stations small creeks. My variation of a fathead minnow in a natural color. These are great flies to use year round. Fishing it shallow or as a trailer are the most affective techniques I have used. When predator fish are schooling this is also a good fly to throw. Works well on local eaters here in College Station as well as all around Texas for bass , panfish, and white bass! Fantastic video. Fishing this river for 25+ years. The Guadalupe river is my 2nd home. Wish some of the property owners along these stretches of rivers weren't so entitled to "Their river". The fencing off properties down to the river and signage has gotten wild on the Guadalupe and many other rivers in south TX. Just look at the Blanco river now.
Protect our waterways !!
The wife and i first fly fished on the Guadalupe. Camping and fishing on the river were some of our best times living in Texas and gave us a common hobby that has spread to other fisheries in Texas and beyond. I often hike three miles up a mountain in Tennessee before I make my first cast to a fish that might reach 6” in length but whose beauty is hard to match.
Really wished a fly fishing club was at A&M while i was a student. This is a great video and GigEm. BTW, grew up in NB and caught my first trout at Camp Beans at the 4th crossing
