Love it!!
The couple of guys I hung out with in college in the late 70's, who actually were learning to really play guitar, seriously, had exactly two guitar heroes who really mattered to them: Larry Carlton and Phil Keaggy. Sure there were dozens more out there, but those were the two they talked the most about.
We called that song "road music" back in the day.
best guitar solo hands down
You were one of my teachers at GIT in 1977, so cool to see you again. Way to go !
Growing up my buddies went to GIT and all of them emerged as Larry Carlton clones….I avoided the style because it became homogenized.
A flight in and out of the stratosphere
Nice song 👍👍👍
LC makes that $700 guitar sound as good as a $7000. Gibson 335! Master!
Excellent! Cheers to you - and to Larry!
Sounds a little Vegas -y. I like it dirty and harder
LC 😃🎶💫❤️🎸 BAND😃🎶💫❤️👌🏼
Larry Carlton is cool he's funny and he's a great guitarist got to love him
Larry normally plays a 1969 Gibson ES 335 that is worth without his name attatched to be around $10,000. In this video he is playing a Sire Larry Carlton H7. It sells for $705 new. I own and love my $400 Sire Larry Carlton S3.
Maybe the most complex solo of all times. Like only a Jazz musician could deliver.
Spectacular.
Larry is awesome 👍
Blimey he can play outstandingly well 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
right off Steely Dan Aja. Larry contributed to this album.
Beautiful, just lovely.
Take It is one of SP’s baddest songssss
Asia is still one of my favorite songs. It takes me elsewhere
Saw him in Milwaukee area a few summers ago. Great guy and talented. So enjoyed the night!
Missed the distortion on the first solo, but still, very enjoyable.
damn shaun killed it
It's a very relaxing tune.
Music starts at 1:55
So Cooooooooolllllll!!!
Beautifully done sir! Love your work, Larry!
RIP you beautiful man, that’s me and my crew in the front on the right!!!! Can’t wait to hear you again in heaven ❤
Fantastic Larry, you nailed it, now maybe next time you could face the camera so we can work on some of that great lead work! Keep jamming!
Is that a Sire guitar? Anyone know?
4:18 (3:50 on the original recording) to the end of the song still, to this day, gives me goose bumps when I hear it. It's one of the cleanest, most melodic, beautifully crafted solos in history.
This man's unusually prolific mental process, created possibly the most complex, and musically genius guitar solos in the anals of all of music history
Incredible talent. I still say the best intro solo of all time is on Don't Take Me Alive. Anyway, Larry is a little goofy in the end. ;-)
is there gas in the car?
Nicely done Larry, that Carlton solo isn't easy to learn and master : )
Such a beautiful person. A truly unassuming "Superstar."
I love learning SD songs! This iconic song will challenge the best of us, that's for sure! Larry is an inspiration to all guitarists! Keep jamming Bro!
Steely Dan, have no peers.
Thiago espirito santo baixo, daniel santiago na guitarra e o batera eu n consigo ver 😢
Great job!!
What a lovely man and what a fabulous musician. I say musician, as these Dan guitarists didn't reproduce solos in the studio - they wrote them. Donald and Walter knew who to choose !
I saw Larry Carlton play in Vegas a few years ago. It was like I died and went to heaven. It was the most wonderful experience that I've ever going to concerts! It was a small venue. The sax player from Joe Bonamassa's band sat in that night. It was truly like watch Art being perform in front of your eyes. Thanks Larry!!!
Would love to see this live. Next time in Atlanta I will be there
Who is the vocalist?
Glad to know that L C Still has His love for music❤ thanks for this ❤ revisted May 52024
Larry is "Mr. 335," but he's also "Mr. Smooth." His solo in the unedited version of "Hill Street Blues" is one of his best in my book, strangely enough. A lot of that sound is the ES-335. He was one of the masters of this incredible studio instrument. As for this solo, there isn't a single solo on a Steely Dan song that isn't entirely unique, beautifully voiced and actually "sing-able." Parks, Randall, Baxter, Dias, Becker, Carlton, Graydon, and yes, even Mark Knopfler... All are/were outstanding in their field.
Serious sound issues with the bass in and out. Someone needs fired 😂
The overdrive on bass man..
