The sleep training debate: Does it Cause Harm
Переглядів 1716 годин тому
This amazing resource was created by @_tomvaillant, a video and visual journalist. Amazing visuals. But wait? What about Romanian orphanages and learned helplessness, or polywoly nerve theory, etc etc. There are many many theoretical arguments. And much of the “science” presented against sleep training is just that… theoretical or extrapolated from situations that don’t apply to sleep training....
Happiness Equation

And yes, life is MUCH more complex than this, and there are many parts. Mental health, community, family/social relationships etc. And there is so much outside our control. But this mindset can be applied to many things to keep life in perspective.

Sleep fix #2 for back to school: Chronotherapy
Переглядів 621 день тому
Chronotherapy does have data to support it, but data not as robust as advancing circadian rhythm (see method 1 in previous video). But I’ll tell you anecdotally that it works well for adolescents when you have 7-10days of flexible schedule. Some other important things: 1. Once you are on good schedule, want to keep it consistent on BOTH weekdays and weekends. Try to sleep and wake within 30min ...

This was really great! What helped me a lot (similar to your journaling advice) is setting time aside each day to just 'think'. Usually i combine it with a walk or a run, but just sitting on the sofa and thinking about everything works for me as well. When i go to bed now i have the feeling that i already through everything important and i'm a lot calmer

Paris is trying to be as eco-friendly as possible, hence the crappy beds, and no air conditioning. Look, I applaud the idea, but find ways to do it that don't affect your visiting athletes. Honestly, the carbon footprint of all those people flying to France is way bigger than anything you're going to save. Mattresses and AC. And, unless the French athletes are required to stay in the same conditions, I'd argue it could be seen as trying to give the French athletes an advantage.
