Aspen bassoon band 2017 conducted by Per Hannevold of the Bergen Philharmonic. The players are students at the Aspen Music School.

Faculty member Per Hannevold conducts bassoon students (and one old white haired guy - me) weekly if it doesn't rain on the Aspen mall every summer. This is not all the students, there was an opera going on.

A group of volunteers from the City of Ft. Collins Colorado took on the restoration of one of the City's original Birney streetcars and in 1984 started running the trolley on weekends during the summer on a portion of the original route. They recently purchased a second one of their Birney trolleys and are in the process of restoring it. Trolleys stopped running in Ft. Collins in 1951.

every year for Winterskol, the Air Force Academy band comes to Aspen. Also coming was a bagpipe band I believe from Denver. They played a few pieces together but I didn't get one recorded because I forgot that my new iPhone was also a video recorder. It was a cold day. I'm sure the temp was below freezing.

The "band" is made up of students at the Aspen Music School and led by faculty member and Festival Orchestra principal bassoonist Per Hannevold. Oh yea, the old guy in the back, a former student, is me.

From the shop of Rick Morel in Denver. This little gem is almost ready. The organ was designed and built by Todd Evers in the Morel & Associates shop. Notice the doors behind the organist Dan Jones. He was giving me a little demonstration. Unseen is the 8' octave on the back of the case.

Here is the tune "Waikiki" appropriately played on the organ whose home was at that now lost institution, the Waikiki 3 by organist Bob Alder. It was his theme song for many years there. The instrument is now 17 ranks and when done, will be an organ I think of 23 ranks. It speaks resonantly in Hilo's Palace Theater.

Bob Alder plays the newly installed 4x17 (soon to be 18 ranks) Robert Morton organ originally from the Waikiki 3. Hilo is on the rainy side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Not very touristy, the town has great restaurants and the flavor of old Hawaii. It's definitely worth a visit.
