The Big Give 2023 - The Recap
We just finished the 3rd annual Big Give for 2023, where you helped us raise money to support a family of 7 from a local women's shelter.
The goal was to raise $1000 and we ended up raising a whopping $1185, all because of the generosity of everyone who gave!
Thank you so much for partnering with us to make this happen. In this video, we'll show you the Christmas gifts we got to buy for a family who needed help, and we couldn't have done it without you!
From our Family to yours, thank you so much! You blessed a family in need this Christmas, and brought smiles to their faces.

It's time for the 3rd annual Big Give for 2023, where we're raising money to support a family of seven from a local women's shelter. Two years ago Emma came to us with an idea - she wanted to help local kids to make sure they had a great Christmas. It started with a little girl's desire to bless and love on her community, and our friends and family came alongside of her (and us) to make it happ...
Can We Talk About Jesus? | Betrayal to Belonging

It's been a minute. And we've been thinking and dreaming for quite some time about what to do next with this channel. And this is what we feel is the next step in the adventure for this. And we know everyone comes to the conversation of Jesus with different preloaded assumptions, some good and some bad. It's interesting though because over the years we've built relationships with so many people...

Hey there, Here's the result of The Big Give 2022, what we did and what we bought with the money you donated to this Fundraiser. As we said before, we partnered with a local women's shelter who gave us the opportunity to sponsor a family of 8 who were in need this Christmas. So all the money given was used to buy toys, hygiene supplies, and household things they had on their Wishlist. And becau...

Hey Everyone! As many of you know, last year, our daughter, Emma, wanted to give back at Christmas and had the idea to raise funds to purchase toys for kids in need. Many of our family and friends partnered with her to make her goal a dream come true! (Check out our video from last year!) Emma wants to do it again this Christmas, increasing the goal! Her hope this year is to raise $820; half th...
Winning a Disney Trip - Why Us?

So... we have a story. And it doesn't make sense. We won a trip to Disney World. And we're so stoked. We can hardly believe it still, and we're flying out tomorrow. This crazy gift has also gotten us thinking about whether we deserve it or not (Spoiler alert: We don't). So we want to use this crazy story to point to a larger story of a God who gives good gifts not because we deserve them, but b...
Choosing to Love Instead of Hate on Social Media

Real talk: is anyone else tired of the fighting online? When did it become okay to choose divisiveness over connection and hate over love? Over the past few weeks this has become a conversation between us and so we decided to create a video on what's going on and how our response needs to be love. What does it mean to love those you so strongly disagree with? What does it look like to love your...

Emma had an idea to raise money to buy toys for her school's Toy Drive that would go to kids in need. And so we started a Go Fund Me Campaign and invited you guys to give. Her goal was $708, and you guys CAME THROUGH! You guys donated way more than her goal, which meant we got to buy even MORE toys for kids. This is the story about how it all came to be, as well as footage of us at the Toy Stor...
Why We Still Pray
Переглядів 672 роки тому
Why do we Still Pray? In this video we share a story about struggling with God in prayer over fertility issues a number of years ago. We understand that a lot of people struggle with prayer. And we have too. Sometimes it seems like God isn't listening or doesn't care. And sometimes our prayers aren't answered the way that we want. But we believe that He does hear and listen. We believe God is m...
Emma's Christmas Toy Drive Fundraiser

Our six year old daughter, Emma, had a great idea yesterday! She came to us with a shoebox with coins inside (her allowance money), and asked us if we could put money in the box. When we asked why, she said she wanted to raise money to buy toys for kids in need as part of her school's Christmas Toy Drive. Our hearts melted, and we decided to help her raise her goal. Her goal is to raise $708 to...
Why We Still Read the Bible

The Bible can be a divisive book. But it’s also our favourite. So why, in spite of all of the harm done by those using, abusing, and misusing it, do we still read the bible? Great question! Check out our new video for the answer. Hint, it’s who is at the centre of the book that we’re after. The grand story spanning the length of time itself that paints a picture of a God who is love for everyon...
Why We're Still Christians
Переглядів 913 роки тому
It's no secret that a lot of harm has been done by religion and religious people in the name of God. In this video we want to talk about why we're still Christians in spite of it all. Sometimes we've been embarrassed by other Christians and the things they do or do not do. Because of this, we'd be lying if we said it's never made us ever think twice about why we still pursue this faith. And so ...

Yeah. Ive heard of some parts being mistranslated on purpose. Like King James removing the word Tyrant throughout the whole book (along with many MANY other mistakes in that version of the Bible, like 400 errors or something)

It's very telling about our society how many people jumped in right away to criticize Biles before taking time to understand what was going on. From what I hear, the high-level gymnasts who saw her last vault were A) amazed she even landed on her feet and b) totally understood her decision. It highlights how we need to keep our mouths shut and trust people when they say they aren't well, mentally or otherwise. We need to be slow to speak. I understand that some people are paid to have opinions but I don't think it is good for society to use that platform to be judgemental and a know-it all. And you make a good point about the criticism and disbelief can make people struggling with their mental health feel unsafe to talk about it.

    • @DavidKrysten
      @DavidKrysten 3 роки тому

Thanks for your words Lisa! From the little we understand, it is amazing she landed that vault - so thankful she was able to listen to herself and know that she needed to pull out of that round.

These are good tips! I’ve recently been forced into exercise due to a knee injury and I’ve never felt better! Consistency IS key. I do want to address the running part specifically l, though. I told my physiotherapist and my strength coach that my goal was to run again and they both said: to run, you need to be strong. My physiotherapist specifically said that they are having to retrain -running coaches- on how to teach people to run because they are pushing bodies too far, progressing too quickly and they are seeing injuries. The 0-5km program that is physiotherapist recommended starts with one minute of running and 9 minutes of walking repeated in a half hour session. I urge people to look up a running program as well as exercises to do to strengthen you for running ( you don’t need special equipment!)

I resonated so much with his descriptions of his experience with mental health issues. I found myself especially in the last 5 years having very similar kinds of thoughts and feelings. I have also gone for help with a therapist which has been helpful, and thankfully I also did have 2 friends that up to a certain point I was able to be raw and real about my experiences and they managed to stick around with me. But what is have not been able to find is a life partner, and I feel that my mental health is to blame. Yet when I see testimonies like this one where people do manage to find someone who is accepting and willing to commit to you even though they already see there are substantial challenges ahead... I mean I think that’s awesome and I am happy for those who are able to find someone special like that. But since that has not been the case for me, I struggle with a lot of bitterness and depression because of it and I struggle to believe I will ever find someone who would want to marry me. I feel like I don’t have much to give and it seems from my experience that my struggles only repels any kind of potential relationship.

I resonate with David's running goals on a personal level. I remember training for and running my marathon. Loosely, I'm training for my next one, and hoping to improve my time. In other goals, I'm striving for my "Entertainment Technician Certification Program - Arena Rigging" certification. I've put it off for several years... so many years. I have severe impostor syndrome. Having had repatriated now because of the pandemic (was primarily abroad for work), there's no excuse but to study and take the exam!! I've applied, been approved, and am currently in the process of booking that exam. Hopefully can take it (and pass!) by the end of the year. Thanks for this episode :)
