You know what's funny, I see alot of comments talking about a dark mirror perspective of this animatic. Where this is a happy veneer hiding away the darkness of the shows true nature. What i see is something somehow more tragic. A real ending. Maybe in this story that mysterious exit isnt a falsehood after all. maybe someday after the hell theyve lived through they find out they really can go home. All they need do is wait a bit longer. One final show, one last adventure. And with that cosmic dread of never being able to leave lifted from them playing along isnt so painful. Caine, his purpose about to be over finds a bittersweetness in the fact his final act is enjoyed. It sounds a bit like im telling a happy ending, but its only in the broad strokes. Caine is still left behind. Whatever bonds forged or broken may never be again. What may be a prison may someday be missed, once it really is over. Maybe im silly, or waxing poetic. so sorry if i dont make sense.

I personally like to think of this as the show's finale, the characters have figured out the secrets of the circus and taken care of it. Now understanding why they are in the circus they come to better accept their situation which has also improved. So now they are still in the circus but are much happier, a satisfying happy ending after all the garbage they've been through
