Skin fabrics for doll making - Finding the perfect shade
Im making some dolls with this method for the hair - do you have any tips for doing short hair? I’m making some boy dolls and i dont know if the hair is going to look weird if it isn’t long! Thank you so much for these videos by the way, they have helped me so much!
Thanks for watching! I have a video about needle felting shorter hair here: ua-cam.com/video/W3eJhk9g6Y8/v-deo.html
I fully understand.
Thank you so much for all your videos! ❤ it’s helping me a lot!❤
Eu amo suas bonecas, sou obcecada por elas, são lindas e rostinho dócil 😊❤❤

Whenever I’m in an art block, sometimes I go to Pinterest for new ideas and other times I do use Ai to help with some ideas.
greetings from a fellow vegan in Australia. Mr Hare is beautiful and yes please to more painting vids. Very soothing to watch.
I’m loving this. Perfect timing. I need an uplifting project.
I came here just wanting a comparison of the joint types but there were even more interesting constructions than I expected (I never thought of button jointing the head like that!). Now I'm ready to try out some bead joints on my next doll ❤
Exquisite. I don't even know how to sew. But, lately, doll making has been upon my heart. I love seeing the variety of dolls !!!
I confess I've talked to ChatGPT about my work. 😅 My only defense is that sometimes my friends aren't available to talk, and Chat always answers right away.
Id like a pattern!
Crows are one of my Totem animals. They're so intelligent and clever. I'm also fascinated by owls. Thanks for the lovely story!
They are fascinating little characters. We see a lot of tawny owls here too. More than once, they've given me a scare walking back to my boat in the dark! 😂
Beautiful story about connecting to nature. I hope you manage to befriend a corvid or two. They're quite loyal and clever creatures. My favorite animals are bears. NA black bears, grizzlies, Kodiaks, polar bears, giant pandas... love 'em all to bits. My favorite is the cinnamon bear; a variant of the North American black bear that has rusty reddish fur.
Bears are very cute! Sadly we don't have them here in the UK. I've never heard of a cinnamon bear, they sound gorgeous, I'll have to look them up!
Thanks so much for your valuable insights. Very helpful 😊
You're welcome! Thanks for watching 😊
I was wondering if adding a small layer of fabric glue on the head in patches before felting would be okay for added stability to the felting or is the felting solid on its own? I've recently found your channel and absolutely love your dolls! I've watched a bunch of doll making videos but this is the first hair felting dolls I've seen so I'm just really intrigued with the process.
Thanks for watching! The felting is pretty secure on its own. I've had to use some fabric glue on seams a couple of times, and if anything, I think it made felting more difficult. There's no harm in experimenting though and see what works best for you 😀
@@spyderthread oh that's fair enough. thank you for responding 🤗
Where do you find the bamboo roving? I had kind of given up being able to do needle felting anything and have it be vegan friendly, but this just gave me hope.
Bamboo can be a bit hard to find in some places, I buy it from World of Wool in the UK. Here's the link: www.worldofwool.co.uk/
@@spyderthread thank you so much, I think I found somewhere closer to me that carries it, they also have viscose top - is that something you've worked with? Does it behave similarly to bamboo when used for hair making?
@vegantrashpanda I'm so glad you found it! Viscose is a little different to bamboo, but it's still pretty good to work with. I have a video about it here that I think you'll find helpful :) ua-cam.com/video/8N77Tcdw-WI/v-deo.htmlsi=CXMjAeCVyB2Pi2A9
She so cute!!! oh my god !!!!!
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! I AM SO HAPPY WITH THE KAPOK. IT IS THE BEST. A GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO WOOL WHEN FACILITATING A SPIRIT DOLL MAKING CLASS. ALTHOUTH A LITTLE MESSY WHEN WEARING BLACK🤣. I AM TYPING IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE I AM EXCITED ABOUT A NATURAL REPLACEMENT TO POLYFIL. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!
I'm so glad the kapok worked for you 😀 Yes, it does seem to cling to black clothes and leave you covered in fluff! 😂
So thrilled I discovered your page. Im never leaving. You make such BEAUTIFUL creations. I hope I can make one as good as yours one day!
A bunny please
Hi Jo, I’m quite new to doll making and love the idea of needle felting the hair, I’ve watched this video and I understand the rows going up the back of the head but I’m a bit lost as to how you continue with the top and the front of the head. If you could give me a bit more detail I would greatly appreciate it Thank you 😊 Tina
I know I've included the process in at least one of my videos, but I can't remember which 😆 I will definitely go over it again in another video soon!
Thank so much Jo, will keep a look out for it ❤
I love your advice and videos - always so o practical and uplifting. Thank you. I also love your dolls and maybe one day i will both be able to buy one and create one equally as beautiful. Thank you also for the hair tips. I hadn't thought of felting onto felt and then adding that to the dolls head!
How do you make the head movable?
You can see the technique I use in this video: ua-cam.com/video/xZn7ZSocKns/v-deo.html
I love your dolls! How much are they?
Thank you! You can find prices and details of all the dolls I have available here: spyderthread.com/collections/all
Thank you for this video (and answering my question 🖤) - it's so inspiring
beautifull <3
Thank you!
