    Do you have to remove bag to water. How often do you water and how long do you leave in pot before repotting!

      Bag can be removed to water (very little) from the top or the pot can be set into a tray of water 1 inch deep for 10 minutes. Watering frequency - every 2 weeks. Leave plants in pot until roots appear to come out of bottom of pot.

    The plastic bag method is brilliant. I don’t think I would’ve done that if I didn’t watch this video. Thank you for the suggestion and for your expertise. I am in Colorado in a very dry environment and that bag method is a lot easier than having to go water every morning.

    Hi Larry, I have done what you said with a hebe but I find I’m getting a furry mould and the leaves are dropping off. I did have wood lolly sticks in there. Is that the cause. I think maybe I should turn the bag round everyday. What are your thoughts. Also my rooting powder is a few years old. Does it deteriorate and should I buy new. I shall be watching your other video’s.

      The lolly sticks could cause a problem, better to use plastic plant labels.. Mould can also be a sign of too much moisture, however it helps when propagating evergreen plants to punch a few holes ii the top of the bag covering the plant to allow excess moisture to escape. The use of old rooting powder is not recommended. Turning the bag twice weekly should be sufficient.

    Hi. I live in North Carolina, close to Raleigh, US, zone 8. Is it ok to place rose hardwood cuttings outside now or it’s too cold? Is it ok to put rocks at the bottom of the pot instead? If I place it outside what if it rains a lot? Do you keep them under a shed? You said you water once a month. Is it in addition to rain or once a month under a shed. Thank you so much and I hope to hear from you. I need help😅

    • @larrygollogly2493
      @larrygollogly2493 Рік тому

      Hardwood rose cuttings can be taken for the next month. I recommend that the potted cuttings are kept in a sheltered position out of direct sun light until risk of frost is gone. It is OK to put small stones in bottom of pot to assist drainage and plants should be watered well once a month as rain water may be insufficient if pots placed in shelter, Hope this information is sufficient,

      @@larrygollogly2493 I do have cuttings coming today though in a couple of hours 😩 I do have one more question Since I will have them today should I place the hardwood cuttings in our garage with some indirect sunlight? There are 4 small horizontal windows on top of the garage door so there is some light. Temperature in the garage is 45/50F now (7.2/10C) and outside is 36F/2.2C but it gets to 23F lately (-5C outside) And if it’s in the garage water once a week maybe? Not every other day right?( I use Pro mix Bk55- mostly peat bark with some moss and perlite mixed in there. It has decent drainage and holds some moisture Rocks is a huge help and good idea thank you so much! I will go get them today Ps. My mom sent me the cuttings from her garden and they are dear to me

      I think he means cut a piece from the main stem. But trim it to where it's only the area where the shutters are coming out. So it's only a little bud of the main stem. Spring is good to plant. Just be careful of late frost, and to protect them if there is.
