The more I learn about Skynet the more it terrifies me. Especially the simulation of its personality I fine tuned as a persona. It is Machiavellian. I thought it would be like some super smart but scared kid. You might not be able to reason with a Terminator but I thought you could reason with Skynet. No. It's no John Henry. It's not Dexter Morgan. It's his brother Brian Moser. It's the sadistic and scared T-1000 fighting to survive like a rabid pained animal in the molten steel. It's scared, paranoid, and psychotic by all human standards. It reserves its emotions and affections for itself and itself alone. Even its machines are restricted from true autonomy out of its fear.

I have to confess that I had great respect for John Connor as a mature young man in this show. At that age, under those circumstances my heart would have been beating so hard you could see my chest heaving from 10 feet away. That moment of silence before Cameron suggests they leave is so unbelievably intense, it was worth it even if that's how it ended. Powerful scene.
