    You forgot to fill the filter up with fresh oil to prevent a dry startup.😳

    You forgot to fill the filter with oil so that when you start the engine, there won’t be a dry gap in the oil flow.

    Was this car 4wd? Trying to research what I need to do to replace my PTU output seal. I thought it would leak gear oil, not transmission fluid.

    Put a plastic bag over the oil filter when you remove it and you won't get oil running down your arm.

      You need to assess which oil is best for your specific climate. Every oil type has an ideal temperature range.

    Good job, thanks. One thing I try to do when a filter is in that position, is to fill it with oil before screwing it back on. Not sure it makes much differences but seems logical. Peace.

    Where did you get the other bracket from? I’m having the same issue and the cv axle spline isn’t all the way flush with the transmission it’s about an inch off

    Good trick when pulling the axle and catching the transmission fluid, I use food containers with quart measurement markings that really help with get very accurate results. Also was your explorer FWD or 4WD with the PTU? I got a 2015 Taurus SHO and got a vibration in the passenger right side but only when going 6k rpm in 1st or 2nd gear. I think it might be the wheel bearing but I'm not sure.

    Can I get some details on this repair? I am currently stranded in a city trying to get an axle installed. Is the axle you installed a factory axle or was it aftermarket (autozone etc?). Also what is the part numbers for the bracket you installed and the bolt?

    • @briggsautomotive1559
      @briggsautomotive1559 2 роки тому

      The part number for the bracket and bolt is in the description of the video, I don’t know it off-hand. The axle I installed is a motorcraft product so an OEM axle. I have not had great luck with autozone or similar axles

    17 inch alloy wheels buddy! I love them, getting bigger wheels isn't always the best idea. bigger wheels = more momentum and if you are going for full speed then go for it but I whip my horse for city driving and 17's are perfect. I burn most JDM cars, including evos and stis from stop light to stop light.

    • @briggsautomotive1559
      @briggsautomotive1559 3 роки тому

      True, bigger wheels aren't always better but wider wheels typically bring more grip which is what I was looking for. They are also a lot cooler looking, which was what I was looking or in high school.

    What makes these spider gears a limited slip differential? I have a new to me TJ jeep with a transplanted 8.8 and I have the spider gears with no S spring. I believe I have an open differential.

    • @briggsautomotive1559
      @briggsautomotive1559 3 роки тому

      The spider gears aren't what makes it a limited slip, a lot of the 8.8's are open differentials. The S spring pushes on a clutch pack behind the spider gears and that's what makes the differential a limited slip. I would agree with you in that yours is probably an open differential especially since it doesn't have that S spring.
