Bilt Hard 4.5 cu Cement Mixer. Is it any Good?
Since I do a lot of DIY construction work by myself, I thought it would be helpful if I had my own cement mixer. There are some projects coming up where I can use one, so I ended up purchasing this Bilt Hard 4.5 cu ft mixer from Amazon. I will show you how to put it together and then actually use it on three different projects.

    How do I love this video? Let me count the ways. (1) clear images and close-ups (2) articulate spoken word AND helpful written explanations accompanying the narration (3) no heavy-metal or aggressive driving bass music -- in fact, really nice music to tide over the extended periods of performing tasks While this may be helpful for DIYers, for me the value lies in knowing what the process is so I can have more informed conversations while selecting a stucco contractor to perform the work. The first time I heard a contractor refer to a screed, I laughed. (He didn't understand why. Maybe he's never been exposed to the Comments section on UA-cam.) I subscribed!

      True soapy water can work, and I know a lot of people use it. I used to build smog test equipment years ago, and we used a leak detector called "snoop" because it would detect the smallest of leaks. So, for me when dealing with gas I rather use something that I know will show me a tiny leak, cost a couple of bucks and last me a few years.

    I do understand the logic behind the primer, but don't really see the benefits. We all know that a properly applied PVC glue will last forever, and if a leaks occurs, it will most likely be somewhere else along in the pipe, not in the glued joints. I guess the most important things to consider is to use a good quality glue, and apply it properly on both sides of the pipes that will make contact.

      Thanks, I just ordered a 1/8” sheet of black plastic from Amazon. I think it was 4’ x 1’. No way to remove them after pouring the concrete, now they are covered by the stucco. Since they were black couldn’t really see them anyway.

    • @BruBuilds
      @BruBuilds Місяць тому

      Thanks for watching and the encouraging comment. I finished the stucco over a month ago, just haven't had much time for editing. I did use a bonding agent on the cement boards, embedded stucco mesh into the base coat and ended up doing 2 semi-smooth color coats on most of it. Had some challenges getting it even and smooth the first time but learned a few tricks and had better results with the second coat. I used a 20/30 color stucco mix, which is applied at 1/8" thickness, so it started to dry rather quickly. Using a red foam float immediate after applying it gave me the best results. Hopefully I can find some time to edit and get the video out soon, I may do a quick video this weekend to show the results, you are not the first person to ask about it.

      Corner bead and drip screed attached first. I embedded the stucco mesh into the base coat, I didn't get the self-adhesive type, so it didn't stick to the cement board. But I think it worked better to put on about 1/4" of base coat, stick the mesh into the stucco, then add another 1/8" of stucco. I would overlap the mesh around the corners.

I just had an issue with a 3ah battery I bought back in 2013 it stopped working. I called Ridgid answered a couple questions and they are replacing the 3ah 11 year old battery with a new gen 4ah battery without any hassles. I also just bought the weed whacker as my old one was a black and decker one with different batteries so again for $160 for the trimmer as tool only I picked one up this summer havn't had a chance to really use it yet gonna clean out the backalley along my fence here this fall with it but now all my tools in my house are ridgid and use the same batteries ☺ The turbo mode like I said was my only "con" as I just hit the turbo all the time when I use it so why not just make full power the turbo power
