How to Sew on Bias Tape and a Button-down Upcycle
There are a lot of different types of bias tape and also a lot of way to sew them to fabric. I’ll explain a couple of types and ways here. I’ll also show you how to upcycle a button-down shirt with bias tape for a one-of-a-kind look.
I sew on a Janome Memory Craft 9450 QCP sewing machine and a Bernina L 890 serger.

Anthropologie Butterfly Sweatshirt Upcycle
Переглядів 504Місяць тому
Have a plain sweatshirt or t shirt you want to sprice up? I fell in love with the Maeve Butterfly Graphic Sweatshirt from Anthropologie but couldn’t stomach the $98 price tag. So I made my own! A thrifted swestshirt and some butterfly fabric, and I love the way it turned out. You can also do this with no sewing. The fabric I used was from Joann. Large Butterfly Print on White Organza Fabric, sk...
Upcycled Glassware into a Beautiful Tree
Переглядів 41 тис.Місяць тому
I saw this beautiful glass tree from @therurallegend on my Instagram feed and simply had to make one. I see so many glass dish pieces at estate sales and thrift stores and this is a perfect way to use them. I used lighter weight glass pieces in graduating sizes and combined bowls and plates. I found the perfect bell to put on top. I used E6000 glue to hold it all together. You can follow me on ...

My Estate Sale Haul
Переглядів 2882 місяці тому
I try to hit up estate sales at least one weekend a month. I check out estatesales.net to find the ones in my area and then look at the photos to see if anything sparks my interest. I find that I have the best luck at sales in older homes in the suburbs. And I don’t find something at every sale either. I also like going on the weekend as most estate sales (at least in my area) go 50% off on Sat...

How I Remove Stains and Fix the Vintage Linens I Buy

Sigh. Twix. Really?!? Oh, well. I’ve had a lot of questions about how I get the stains out of the linens I thrift. Sadly, there is not one true method. And since, chances are, you have no idea what the stain is or how long it’s been there, it can be a challenge. Products I use include: Bleach Oxi Clean Woolite ( to wash them in) Follow me on Instagram and check out my Etsy shop. I have a new li...

To pack this, find a box that’s big enough, then fill the bottom half with expanding foam, put down a garbage bag, and set the tree inside. Let the foam expand to fit the tree. Let it cure completely, then use another bag and fill the top half of the box. It takes several pairs of hands, and some fiddling to get it right, but at the end you’ll have a custom storage box for your artwork. There are tutorials on how to do it online.

All of those pieces are beautiful and still usable and they are vintage pieces. Gluing is fine,,,no harm but to destroy them by drilling holes or cutting in half unless they are unusable is sad. Your tree did end up gorgeous! ♥️👍🏻🎄

I have some of the same she used and they were my Mother's and my Grandmother's (and I'm in my 70's now)...so they are very old. I used them for years for parties and now use them for myself for summer salads, soaps, jewelry, etc.. I think they're still beautiful.

Beware, E6000, doesnt hold forever. I used it with my depression glass candle holders. I had a plate and holder for a cakeplate, and candle holder and bowl for center piece. I put them in hot water to wash them and they came apart. I re-glued them, and they still came apart. Good luck. I still love the udea.
