I just bought a new home with a 4 acre lawn and the lady left me an eXmark Pioneer with less than 300hrs on it. It's been nothing more than a money pit and the worse POS I ever encountered. You can't level the deck, on any less than flat lawn, it digs into the turf, endless spindles being replaced, safety switches etc having to be replaced, no traction on any hill!!! Garbage! I'm going to the Deere place tomorrow and give this junk to charity. Good riddance! No wonder she left the mower here!

You gotta ease off a bit. Ever heard the term let the tool do the work? You dont force drills, or augers. Otherwise nice video.

Some of ya'll may differ, but I just bought one and used it in black gumbo Texas soil - and it worked just fine - I just wish maybe it came with an 8" diameter auger instead of 6". You can barely get any concrete or foam around the post with that narrow of a hole. I might try to wallow out the next ones and rock the machine back and forth to see if I can get a little more space in there.

I ported one of these motors and put it on a gas scooter. Bought a tunable carb that really made a difference in smoother performance. However it vibrates at higher rpms. Its not well balanced. Still a fun project.

I was worried you would go with the radius because of the price but for anything over 3 acres the lazer z is mandatory. I use a radius as my commercial mower and cut small yards for a living and have ZERO complaints, however I took on a 3 acre property and found my ground speed was way too slow to be productive.

Excellent video man. I learned a lot. Props to the salesman for being honest and not 100% trying to upsell you. And I have zero interest in buying a new zero turn mower. I ended up here because I was looking at blades lol

Thats some soft ass dirt when i built my fence even with an auger i took like 1-2 hours per hole with baseball size rocks evry 3-6 inches it was brutal. So many rocks that the auger would just spin out of control without digging anything out the was so much torque it bent the chassis.

I have an S-series and 3 X-series and honestly it’s not a huge difference. You can’t go wrong with an Lazer E series…especially for taking care of an estate your size. I think you made a good choice.

Rocks will knock you on your butt, or snap back and hit your leg. Just be advised, my legs were black and blue from kickback. Rocks are unavoidable in the CA Sierras.

I bought one in 2009, a left-over 08, and it's never left me sit, has the 25 kohler 60" ultra cut on a Lazer Z haven't replaced anything but oil, filters. spark plugs and ever 2 years I change out the belts, use 3 sets of blades and rotate ever 3 weeks, cost me 8K

  • @Mark-sh2ki

I bought one of these. I learned a couple of important lessons in using it. One is that it can be extremely dangerous if it does catch a root or a rock. The instructions say don't put downward pressure on the machine, use max throttle and let the machine do the work. That will work in hard, dry soil or clay, since it is taking small amounts of soil as it advances, it will bounce on the root or rock obstruction. BUT in soft or wet soil the auger is advancing too fast and will grab and lock on the obstruction and instantaneously rotate the machine 90 degrees in you hands and rip your shoulders apart. You need to go slow/part throttle in soft soil to not injure yourself. It's very dangerous in soft soil. The second thing I learned is that the machine needs to be started every couple of months and/or the 25-1 gas/oil mixture goes bad and needs to be replaced. The directions say to store it with fuel in it, and use fuel stabilizer. But that only holds for a few months. Then you have to start over. Another problem I encountered was the inability of the fuel tank pickup to suck gas. My machine had to be at least 3/4 full to keep running. Otherwise it would start and die. I don't know if this is a problem unique to my machine or a design issue. Another maintenance item for storing is to remove the spark plug, pour a small amount of oil into the cylinder and rotate the piston with the pull start to lubricate the cylinder prior to storage.
