DIY Firepit Maintenance for Poor Flame Coverage
If your fire pit only has flames in certain sections or the flame height isnt quite what it once was, you could have clogged burner rod port holes. In this quick video I will walk you through how I was able to unclog each hole by drilling out the corrosion. Once you drill out the corrosion and screw the rod back in, always always check for leaks by leaving the firepit off/closed and turning the source back on--the meter shouldnt run nor should you smell any gas.
Some other side notes.
1) If you can remove the rod completely, do so! This will allow you to empty out any corrosion dust and dirt that occurs from drilling out the holes.
2) If the burner rod is slipping when using the channel locks, ensure the pipe is deep in the wrench and try flipping over the channel locks so the top wrench is closest to you as you rotate the pipe (see 1:38).
3) Loosening up the pipes will be the hardest part, there is likely alot of corrosion in there. Heat the screws and union and try working the pipe loose. May take multiple attempts.

This thing motors!! And it does a good job sucking up all of the flagstone dirt and sand. I was skeptical at first when it was going. The brushes on the bottom were kicking up quite a bit of the sand/dust and I wasnt sure how much was getting sucked in, but once finished it had ALOT! They say to only use on pools that are flat and have perfect 90degree walls (where it meets the bottom floor). O...

    • @DIYwithMIKE
      @DIYwithMIKE 10 місяців тому

      Pulled from a website: Go to the window or door, in which you have a question or issue with and check either the top right or left corner of glass between the two panes. Use caution if you have to climb to get a good view of these corners. In of the two corners, you will find a metal spacer with a series of numbers printed on it. The set of numbers will be five to eight digits long with a decimal point and then three more digits. Those six to eleven figures is your Milgard Sales Number or your Milgard SO. When you are ready to speak to a Milgard representative, please have the Milgard Sales Number ready so that they can locate your door or window in their system as quick as possible.

    Yep. Break the lever, cut the soft plastic chunk around the bolt, then manually unscrew the bolt. The sleeve that goes around the seat post, RP-05 replacement, now comes with a metal piece where the bolt terminates which should help prevent future stripping. Replace RP-07, the lever, and then you’re all set. Use a drop cloth and keep a vacuum handy for cleaning up plastic sawdust.

    So, after spending $21k to renovate my bathroom, I take my first shower and HOLY CRAP the drain sounds like a frigging TORNADO. Sinking feeling in my gut that I've got a big problem...but then I find this solution, rush out to Home Depot, get the chain and the small pipe section and VOILA....the problem is FIXED. THANK YOU!! btw, maybe you didn't mention it because it seems obvious (though not to dummies like me), but the critical function of the pvc pipe is to keep the chain from just dropping in since the pipe can't go around a corner. Also if you don't want to see the white chain, what I did was cut a round piece of flat plastic (you can use a plastic lid) and placed it on top of the chain, but not tight in the hole so there is plenty of area around the "cover" for the water to go.

    • @DIYwithMIKE
      @DIYwithMIKE Рік тому

      Yup, that's the reason for the pipe! Be weary of the lid, hair and soap residue and gook will clog that up quick. Spray paint the chain black, maybe?

    Had a new shower installed and was disappointed at how noisy, gurgling, the drain was with my linear drain. I thought it was the plumber's fault, may still be, but this solution worked great! 3 feet of Plastic chain from Lowes about $2.50. Out of curiosity how is the bed holding up? Because I bought this bed and like you said in the video the wooden slats that run horizontal across the bed to hold the mattress up, they also are twerking over the metal bar that is a center support that goes from the headboard to the footboard. I was just honestly wondering if this would put strain and stress on the holes drilled into the bed, and if in the long run the wooden slats would hold up staying secure to the bed

    • @DIYwithMIKE
      @DIYwithMIKE Рік тому

      Bed is still holding up nicely and not seeing any issues with the slats. The dresser and side tables were the issue with the finish peeling off but customer service was great about replacing and sending new stuff (was still in warranty period)

  • @patrickfrancis5509
    @patrickfrancis5509 Рік тому

    Hey bud, just to let you know, you actually don’t have to spend any money on parts to fix this issue. Take your seat bar out of the hole and tighten the screw, you’ll see two plastic tabs open up. Those tabs apply pressure to the bar and allow the seat to sit at the adjusted height. Cut those tabs off exposing the metal plate, release the screw from the tightened position and make the metal plate sit flush inside the cut away. Lower your seat bar down gently until it passes the plate then put the seat at your desired height and tighten back down. The plastic sleeve wears away and won’t hold, the metal plate on the other hand will. 🤛 boomsies.
