    Hard candies is a way better alternative than hard smoking. I have long been addicted to cigarettes. And soon I’ll be taking up skateboarding. And thus, to avoid huffing and puffing in between tricks, hard as it may be, I might have to quit smoking altogether. I was told smoking impedes athletic performance. I’m hoping your candies can help me.

      @@howtocooktocope7558 Thank you very much! So it’s a choice for me between smoking and skating. At first I considered vaping but my friends tell me that vaping is just as bad and eating candies is an even better cessation alternative. Plus, it gives a dose of extra carbohydrates for an energy boost. ( in skateboarding for me) I’m pretty sure you tried it too! Am I right? Anyhow, congratulations on your awesome patience and determination to quit smoking! Job well done ! Thanks for sharing the candies.

    I know one person has already said two drams and everyone loved it, but what do you think would that be too much?

      I have used 2 drams if I felt the flavor wasn’t strong enough for this size batch, so far that has only been one flavor. I use LorAnn Oils for that reason, their flavors are pretty potent. It wouldn’t hurt if you did though. 😊 I would only caution you if you are using hot cinnamon oil, that might hurt! 😱

    Have you got any advice on stopping it being too sticky when putting in packets? I made a small batch of lollies today and even after dusting them with icing sugar they still seems to make a mess. They’re for my friends wedding favours 😅

      Hi Helen! I experience this situation in high humidity, If I make hard candy/boiled sweets/lollies in summer I crank my air conditioning up because humidity is sugars nemesis. In the U.S. some lightly dust their candy in corn starch. Another reason for sticky candy is if it isn’t cooked long enough. I’m not sure where you are located however, if it’s humid I can just about bet that is your culprit. I have read that you can cook your candy for an additional 2 degrees higher to make up for the humidity outside. I have not tried this myself so I cannot vouch for it personally but wish you luck if you give it another whirl. 💕

      @@howtocooktocope7558 thank you for this! I’m in the UK, the weather isn’t the best at the moment but can get quite humid at home through the day, I didn’t actually think of that! I’ll give another batch a whirl today and cook it a little longer too. Pray this works 👏

      @@howtocooktocope7558 cornstarch will work, you can also sand them in sugar, if you want a sour patch type taste sand them in a mixture of citric acid and sugar

    i followed this recipe meticulously, and my candy has a touch of a bitterness to it. 2 batches have had this that i have tried. is this normal? is it from the syrup?

    • @howtocooktocope7558
      @howtocooktocope7558 3 роки тому

      Bitterness can occur when your sugar burns. I keep my stove on medium low but everyone’s stove is different of course. I also make my candy in a heavy bottom pan because the heat disperses more evenly. I’m sorry your candy didn’t turn out this time. Please let me know if you try again.

      As long as you keep them stored in an air tight container away from moisture and humidity it will last for months! Thank you for watching. 🙌
