Seeing those Stahls pin orientators means that you don't know how to properly adjust your pin feed. My old FM loved them, but by the time he retired I had removed them all and found a new home for them in the big green storage bin behind the building!
I bowl at several AMF houses and never seen so many pile ups ...
for respots, I've seen where pinchasers swept the pins then use the fork to add the pin from above...how do you do that
Get a microphone. I'll watch your next one.
Pretty amazing that a lot of these machines at 60+ yrs old and keep on going.
Question: I pinjump at an A2 center and I have the ability to do respots from the top of the machine. The houses I have bowled at with these AMF machines are always using a stick / manual process. Can you unload the staging deck (Upper deck) and do respots or will it not function without a full 10?
@@jefferydaniels6717 you can do it from the top but it’s faster to use the stick , we would have to unload the table and put in the pins we need then trigger the 9 switch then reload the bin back up.
It will grow back just remember it will grow back
man, that thing is really clean! Kudo's to your cleaning/maintenance program.
Loved the video. Thanks for making it!
Awesome stuff, thanks for taking the time to show us!
Very cool! Your tour is very much like I give tours at my center. 👍😎
Very cool really neat technology and whom ever designed this was a genius
Too much electricial that could go wrong give me an old brunswick machine i only say that bc im horrible with electric more of a mechanical type of guy other than that these machines run amazing at a center i bowl at with them
Could you show us how to adjust the ball kicker that helps the ball up into the belt
Looked like 4 Pin Cup needs to be adjusted
Thank you for your time to show us how it runs.
That crazy looking Pin oreintator things hanging of the pinwheel cover, whats the deal and story with that.
Oh man, I miss those Vantage urethane cushion rubbers. They lasted a LONG time!
Our alley constantly drops pins on lane two on our 82-70’s. We have to re-rack at least 2-3 times on league night. Any thoughts on what’s wrong? Idea for next video the sister alley?
Check pin bases, cup gap , then check for table level, and height.
@@Rob-js3ec Yeah, I've found this is usually a spotting cup issue...gap too tight/loose, or the cup is twisted or broken.
I've been looking into being a mechanic at my home center and we run 82/90xls
They're almost identical operationally as 82-70s...many of the same parts you see in this video.
Miss the old Timber Eliminator and Best of the Best tournaments there back in the 90s I remember when it expanded. Used to be only 24 lanes. My dad used to be in a traveling league in the 70s and 80s that included Timber Lanes (Broken Arrow Lanes). Of course, almost all of the bowling alleys from then are long gone. Rose Bowl. Cedar Lanes. Tiffany Bowl. Yale Bowl. Crystal Bowl. All gone. Only other ones remaining are Sheridan Lanes and Riverlanes (Andy B's). When Riverlanes first opened, it had 40 lanes. They added another 40 lanes in the 70s or 80s. When they added this high side, it was the only place in Tulsa with computer scoring. Old Brunswick computers with no bells or whistles. The low side was still paper scoring while the high side had computers. Did the bulk of my open bowling at Riverlanes in the 90s while dreaming of being a pro. Especially once Tiffany closed.
@@bowlerdave9347 thank you for commenting! That’s awesome! It’s cool to have someone watching that knows about all the old centers, my dad used to be a mechanic at Tiffany when I was little, they called me chow hound because I ate so much haha. I always thought it was cool that Tiffany had a basement! But rose bowl was always my favorite center. I was recently cleaning the desk in the shop the other day and found some free game passes from Yale bowl that a late and great mechanic Bruce hodge gave my dad. I appreciate your comment!!!! Have a wonderful day!
@@MellowMechanic87 I remember the name Bruce Hodge but I don't know why. Guess I heard it back in the day. I never knew Tiffany had a basement. That was where I got my first 300. Been dreaming about that place lately for some reason. When I was younger, my dad bowled Monday nights at Rose, Thursday night at Tiffany and the traveling league on Fridays. I did most of my youth leagues at Rose. Did one league at Sheridan one summer. Then as an adult I did Monday nights at Rose and Thursday nights at Sheridan. Did most of my practicing at Tiffany right before they closed because it was $6 an hour. Then went to Riverlanes 3-4 times a week. I never got to bowl at Yale, Crystal or Cedar but I ran around each on Friday nights while dad was bowling the traveling league. I did go to Cedar each year in the 90s to watch the qualifying and match play rounds during the LPBT Claremore Classic. Hope you have a wonderful day as well.
Do you know the viscosity of the lane oil?
How much is the pay is it good?
i love your videos and i love your center. I have been working on pinsetters since 1999. I wish I worked in a center that had 2 shops as well as that much room behind the machines. I look forward to more of your videos
Is this bowling alley still open
@@jeremyramberger5198 yes sir, I currently work there.
I enjoyed working on the 82/70. In fact, I loved coming to work because I knew that the 70s we had, would not give me any problems. We had 54 lanes and I worked with the head mechanic during the daytime. I learned a lot of things from him. If I had one call that I hated getting called back to me, it was a sweep interlock or table interlock. I have large fingers and I was afraid of getting shocked, so they made me a "hockey stick" to use, which was very seldom. I always did what I was told to do, unlike the night crew, who sat on their "laurels" every night and had their friends in the back, too. Most centers will not allow customers to see the machines. We did. Every weekend, I was always taking someone back to see them, or taking a group back there. Very well-behaved persons, I might add. I am now retired, but I do miss it. Thank you for posting your videos here. It brings back alot of memories and I am learning new things from watching them.
Thank you for sharing your memories of working in the bowling center! My least favorite thing is the interlocks also! We have a few chassis now that we don’t have to reach down into we can do it from the top, I’ll have to make a little video about it! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
If I was able to go back to any of the centers I worked at to do a video like this, they all have changed so much since I left.
I’m on the search for some that are running but haven’t changed much to do a video on! I love the old school centers! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
@@MellowMechanic87 Hey, us bowling employees stick together right?
every bowling center needs a transmission
Oh most definitely!!!! Haha thank you for watching and commenting!!!
Glad to see your back in action and glad to see a tour of the alley your work at hopefully maybe I can visit the alley you work at one day
That's cool, I'd love to see the back of my bowling center in person one day, maybe if I ask they'll show me.
Thank you for the comment! Most centers if not busy should let you take a look, if I’m not busy I’ll show the back to people just gotta be very careful haha thank you for watching!!!!!
It's great
I live in a small town with a six lane center with the same pin setters (8720’s). We help the owner out with running the place when he. Weds a day off. Kinda wish we had new scoring machines. We have the old analog system accuscore. But we love our small town alley. He has room for 8 lanes but doesn’t have the extra pin setters or scoring systems.
That’s pretty awesome! I want to find a center that isn’t completely updated to do a tour of! The new scoring system we have looks nice but it has a lot of faults!! Thank you for watching and for commenting!!!!

Hello MellowBowlingMechanic, your video has missing something wrong that's why your video doesn't rank on top search results.🥰
Well, not just anyone can do these things! It takes a lot of blood, sweat, and big balls 😂 keep up the good work!
That's great news, and keep the faith! I'll add you to my prayer list, AMEN!
A mechanic, magician, and a Rockstar, well, aren't we special 😊
I try my best! Lol
Oh, now I get it a clever way to get new connections to computers on lanes! Very smart!
I’m the wish version of Brendan Fraser
Don't worry, it'll grow back! 😊
So can I blame the pinsetters for my bad bowling lol 😊
